Steelers' Roman Wilson: Logs bulk of WR3 reps Wednesday
Wilson got the overwhelming majority of reps in three-receiver sets during Wednesday's practice, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
While DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman are entrenched atop the Steelers' WR depth chart, Wilson is looking to secure the WR3 job, with his main competition being second-round rookie Germie Bernard. DeFabo notes that in some instances Wednesday, the Steelers put Wilson and Bernard on the field together, with Bernard playing outside and Wilson in the slot. In any case, the player that emerges as the next option behind the top duo may not have a path to steady volume out of the gate this come Week 1, but that could change should either Metcalf or Pittman miss any time.

Steelers' Roman Wilson: Talked up by Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday he has high expectations for Wilson this season, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
"I expect him to start to make some splash plays," Rodgers said. "He did in the spring. I expect him to have a nice camp." Rodgers was "practically glowing" when talking about Wilson on Tuesday, according to Saunders. Wilson logged just 33 percent of the offensive snaps in his 13 regular-season appearances last season and was essentially running wind sprints, as he was targeted only 21 times across those games and caught 12 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns. The 2024 third-round pick has a real chance to win the WR3 job behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman, however, as Wilson's main competition will be second-round rookie Germie Bernard. New coach Mike McCarthy is also expected to use more three-wide sets and fewer TE-heavy packages than outgoing offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

Steelers' Roman Wilson: Pivotal camp ahead
Wilson will enter training camp with plenty to prove as he competes for a depth role in Pittsburgh's receiver room, Jack Markowski of SI.com reports.
Wilson showed momentum during the offseason program and should benefit from a second year working with Aaron Rodgers, as well as the new offensive scheme instituted by head coach Mike McCarthy. Still, with DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman locked into starting roles and rookie second-rounder Germie Bernard pushing for the No. 3 job, Wilson will need a strong camp to secure even a depth role.

Wilson secured 12 of 21 targets for 166 yards and two touchdowns over 13 regular-season appearances in 2025.
After missing most of his rookie season in 2024 due to injuries, Wilson had some encouraging performances in 2025, highlighted by a midseason stretch in which he had five performances with double-digit receiving yards in a span of six games. However, his role diminished down the stretch, and he was a healthy scratch in four of the team's last six regular-season matchups. Wilson could have some streaming appeal in 2026, but he'll likely have trouble carving out consistent fantasy relevance throughout the season.

The wide receiver is now a healthy scratch for the fourth time in five weeks, though he did play nine offensive snaps against the Browns in Week 17. Even with DK Metcalf out due to a suspension, Calvin Austin, Adam Thielen, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Scotty Miller and Ben Skowronek are ahead of Wilson on the depth chart.
