Ali carried the ball nine times for 28 yards and caught three of four targets for 18 yards in Friday's 41-3 preseason win over the Commanders.
The third-year running back got the start in the preseason finale with the Ravens resting their key personnel and led the team in touches on the night, although he didn't make much of an impact. Ali appears set to open the regular season as the third option in the backfield behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill, with his main competition being rookie fifth-round pick Adam Randall, who is still learning the nuances of the RB position after mainly playing wide receiver in college before making the switch on a full-time basis in his draft year.

Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Back at practice Monday
Ali (undisclosed) was cleared to participate in Monday's training camp practice, Sam Cohn of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Ali has been held out of each of the Ravens' first two preseason games while tending to an undisclosed injury. His return to the practice field Monday is a positive sign in his recovery and puts the 2024 fifth-rounder on track to play against the Commanders in Friday's preseason finale. Ali is slated to serve as Baltimore's primary returner on kickoffs while serving as the RB3 behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Dealing with injury
Ali has an undisclosed injury that forced him to miss the Ravens' preseason opener Saturday against the Eagles, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
The running back also had to sit for most of the practice week leading up to that contest, per Hensley. Ali recorded 763 kickoff-return yards in 2025, and if he can return soon enough, he should be in line to play a similar role this season. The fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft remains third on the running back depth chart behind Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.

Ali finished the year with seven carries for 24 yards along with nine catches for 68 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets. He also compiled 763 kickoff-return yards.
Ali was more involved in Year 2 than he was as a rookie, but he was still a ways away from making weekly impacts. Baltimore, of course, leans heavily on Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson for much of its rushing attack, so opportunities are inherently limited for depth pieces like Ali. Justice Hill's injury late in the season could have opened a door, but Keaton Mitchell absorbed the bulk of the snaps. Ali enters 2026 with a similar outlook -- established veterans stack the depth chart ahead of him. If Keaton Mitchell is re-signed, Ali will have several hurdles in his way of seeing consistent playing time.

Baltimore gave Ali the nod over Keaton Mitchell as the third active running back. Ali saw only one snap on offense, but he did impress on special teams, as he routinely set Baltimore up in good field position. With Derrick Henry and Justice Hill both healthy, it's difficult to project much work for a No.3 running back in Baltimore. It will be worth monitoring whether Baltimore gives Ali another go in Week 2 against Cleveland, or sees what it has with Mitchell in the kick returner/depth running back role.

Ali took nine carries for 36 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 30-3 preseason win over Washington.
The 2024 fifth-round pick solidified his argument for the No. 4 RB role, starting the final preseason game and hitting paydirt from nine yards out on the opening drive. D'Ernest Johnson also got snaps on the first drive and then scored a TD on the second series, but Ali remains the favorite to stick around for one of Baltimore's final few roster spots. Fellow RBs Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell were among the dozens of Ravens rested Saturday, with coach John Harbaugh mostly using the game to evaluate the bottom of his roster. Harbaugh said in mid-August that the Ravens intend to keep a fourth RB (presumably Ali) on their initial regular-season roster.
