  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Sees added snaps Sunday

Williams failed to haul in his lone target while logging 31 of 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-23 win over the Falcons. Fellow wideout Kayshon Boutte was limited to 18 snaps Sunday due to a hamstring injury that forced his early exit from the contest. As a result, Williams saw added playing time, but he ended up being targeted just once. According to Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site, head coach Mike Vrabel noted Monday that Boutte is unlikely to practice to begin Week 10 prep and could be at risk of missing next Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, in which case Williams would stand to benefit from more snaps once again.

  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Returns to practice Sunday

Williams, who's been out for a week with an undisclosed injury, returned to practice Sunday, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports. Williams took a hard hit to the head during the Patriots' preseason game versus Minnesota on Saturday, Aug. 16. While the nature of his injury still is unclear, the 22-year-old missed the subsequent week of practices and was held out of the preseason finale against the Giants. Williams was selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he is expected to slot into a starting role at some point during his rookie season. Therefore, it will be worth monitoring his injury status leading up to New England's regular-season opener against the Raiders on Sunday, Sept. 7. Otherwise, Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins would be in the mix to start Week 1.

  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Held out of Thursday's game

Williams (undisclosed) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants. Williams missed practice time this week due to an undisclosed issue, but he likely wouldn't have played in any case Thursday as the Patriots rested key players with an eye toward giving those competing for depth slotting the bulk of the snaps versus New York. Assuming he resumes practicing in short order, Williams is destined to secure a role in the Patriots offense out of the gate this season, but it may take some time before the 2025 third-rounder sees steady volume in a wideout corps that also includes Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins.

  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Not expected to play Thursday

Williams (undisclosed), who has missed the Patriots' last two practices, isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. The same applies to fellow WRs Efton Chism (foot/ankle), Kendrick Bourne (leg), Ja'Lynn Polk (arm/shoulder) and Javon Baker. Of the group, Williams' roster standing is the most secure, but it remains to be seen how much volume the 2025 third-rounder sees early on this season, with Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins also in the mix for targets.

  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Not practicing Monday

Coach Mike Vrabel said he doesn't anticipate Williams (undisclosed) will practice Monday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Williams took a hard hit to the head toward the end of the second quarter in Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings and was unable to return. He's played 45 offensive snaps this preseason, securing all three of his targets for 24 yards. The third-round rookie may not be a full-time wideout early on in 2025, as he's competing for snaps with Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins behind Stefon Diggs (knee) and slot man DeMario Douglas.

  • Patriots' Kyle Williams: Mixed results in camp so far

Williams has had an up and down training camp thus far, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports. Graff notes that while Williams has been part of some of the biggest plays in camp, including a 40-yard TD from QB Drake Maye on a go route earlier this week, the wideout has also logged more drops than any other Patriots receiver. Nevertheless, if the 2025 third-rounder can curb the drops as the summer continues, Graff believes that Williams could push for the team's No. 3 WR role. However, for now he's competing with Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne and Ja'Lynn Polk for slotting behind Stefon Diggs and DeMario Douglas.
