Burton's college problems of fitting in and going with the program seem to be plaguing him in the NFL as well. Because the talent is undeniable, we understand if you want to hold him in Dynasty leagues, but even there your patience may start to run thin. In redraft, he is not on the radar.

Burton missed some recent practices and didn't play in Cincinnati's second preseason game, dealing with an undisclosed injury. It turns out his knee was the problem, and he may have aggravated it Saturday afternoon. Either way, his presence on the field with second- and third-stringers Saturday isn't a good sign for Week 1 involvement on offense. Charlie Jones and/or Mitchell Tinsley may be ahead of Burton on the depth chart, in which case Burton's best chance at contributing would be returns on special teams.

After being selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Burton got limited run in his first pro campaign. He was inefficient in catching balls thrown his way, though he did show an ability to make big plays, as two of his four catches went for over 40 yards. Late in the campaign, Burton took over as the Bengals' primary kick returner and showed significant promise in that role, averaging 29.1 yards per return. Burton (6-foot, 196 pounds) is a former blue-chip recruit who transferred from Georgia to Alabama, displaying standout talent at both schools but also picking up his share of critics along the way. He developed a reputation for dubious judgement on the field and in the locker room both, and not as many former coaches went to bat for him as they normally would with a player of his abilities. With that said, Burton's fit at the pro level doesn't require much speculation. If he has his head in the game he has the talent to emerge as at least an average starter at some point, and for the Bengals he should be an immediate boost to the deep passing game. With 4.45-second 40-yard dash and impressive hands/tracking ability, Burton could hurt defenses that leave him in single coverage against slower corners.
