  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Makes 53-man roster

The Patriots informed Chism (foot/ankle) on Tuesday that he's made the initial 53-man roster, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports. Chism has successfully defied the odds after going undrafted out of Eastern Washington back in April, as he'll begin his NFL career on New England's active roster with a chance to contribute both as a depth wideout and on special teams. He missed the Patriots' preseason finale due to what appears to be a minor ankle or foot injury, which he sustained during the team's second preseason game against Minnesota. Chism will work to get fully healthy in time to face the Raiders in Week 1.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Misses Thursday's game

Chism (foot/ankle) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants. Chism missed practice time this week, but provided his injury issue doesn't linger, the rookie UDFA out of Eastern Washington appears to be in a solid spot in terms of making the Patriots' initial 53-man roster. Added context on that front will arrive no later than next week, when roster cuts/moves occur league-wide.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Not on track to play Thursday

Chism (foot/ankle), who has missed the Patriots' last two practices, isn't likely to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. For now, the Patriots wideout corps remains crowded, but Chism's strong training camp/preseason has put him in decent position to secure a spot on the team's initial 53-man roster, provided his injury issue doesn't linger. In his two preseason appearances, Chism has caught 12 passes for 121 yards and two TDs.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Not practicing Monday

Chism (undisclosed) won't practice Monday, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports. Per Kyed, Chism didn't get back into Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings after recording an impressive 12-yard TD en route to logging a 6-71-1 line on six targets over the course of his 25 snaps on offense. The UDFA's strong play this summer has seemingly put him in a good position to secure a spot on the Patriots' initial 53-man roster, provided his injury issue isn't something that lingers. Chism is in line to be evaluated before Tuesday's practice and Thursday's exhibition finale against the Giants.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Finds end zone Saturday

Chism caught all six of his targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 20-12 preseason win over the Vikings. The undrafted rookie out of Eastern Washington continued to be one of the stars of training camp and the preseason for the Patriots. Chism's score came late in the second quarter, as he took a short pass from Joshua Dobbs and fought his way across the goal line for a 12-yard TD. While the top of New England's depth chart at wideout seems set, Chism has put himself in strong contention for the final available spot, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Catches six passes Friday

Chism caught six of his eight targets for 50 yards and a 12-yard TD in Friday's 48-18 preseason win over the Commanders. The UDFA out of Eastern Washington also returned a punt for 11 yards in the contest. Chism faces plenty of competition for slotting in a crowded New England WR corps, but even if the 5-foot-10, 198-pounder doesn't land a spot on the team's initial roster, he'd be a prime practice squad candidate.

  • Patriots' Efton Chism: Making impression this spring

Chism made an impression with his pass catching throughout the Patriots' open spring practices, Mike Dussault of Patriots.com notes. Per Mike Reiss of ESPN, the three-year contract that Chism signed with New England as an undrafted free agent this offseason includes $234,000 in guaranteed base salary, with a $25,000 signing bonus. While the Eastern Washington product finds himself in a crowded wideout corps heading into training camp, the 5-foot-10, 198 pounder has made a good impression thus far and has a chance to secure a spot on the Patriots' 53-man roster as a slot option with a strong preseason.
