  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Unavailable due to ankle

Sanders (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots. Sanders has yet to make his season debut, having started the year on injured reserve. The third-year linebacker had his 21-day practice window opened this past Saturday. The 24-year-old was able to practice fully throughout the week, but will ultimately not be activated for Sunday's game. The Broncos currently have 10 active linebackers, and the availability within the unit is likely one of the reasons that Sanders will have to continue to wait for a shot to suit up.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Won't return for divisional round

Sanders (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's AFC divisional-round tilt against the Bills, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Sanders opened the season on injured reserve while recovering from an offseason procedure to repair a torn ligament in his foot. His 21-day practice window opened this past Saturday, and while he was able to log a full practice Thursday, he hasn't progressed enough in his recovery to be activated from injured reserve ahead of the divisional round. Sanders' next chance to make his season debut will be the AFC Championship Game if the Broncos triumph over the Bills on Saturday.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Practice window opens

Sanders (foot) was designated to return from the injured reserve list Saturday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Sanders, a 2023 third-round pick from Arkansas, was sidelined for the entire regular season due to a foot injury sustained in training camp. However, it now appears he could return for the Broncos' playoff run. If activated to the active roster prior to Denver's divisional-round matchup next weekend, Sanders will likely operate as one of the team's top reserve inside linebackers.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Return not imminent

Head coach Sean Payton said Wednesday that a return for Sanders (foot) "won't be soon," Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Sanders tore a ligament in his foot in late July, which led to him being placed on injured reserve at the start of the regular season. Should he play this season, he'll likely work in a rotational role at linebacker and as a contributor on special teams.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Suffers injury Saturday

Sanders left Saturday's practice with an undisclosed injury, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports. Sanders initially went to the trainers before heading to the locker room on a cart. The 2023 third-round pick suffered a torn Achilles in May of last year, so he played just four regular-season games and 17 defensive snaps. Sanders will compete for a reserve role in training camp behind Dre Greenlaw and Alex Singleton if he can shake off this injury.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Comes off PUP list

The Broncos activated Sanders (Achilles) from the reserve/PUP list Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports. Sanders was designated to return from the PUP list Nov. 6, and he has been a full practice participant over the past two weeks. His activation Tuesday indicates that the second-year linebacker has fully recovered from his Achilles surgery that he underwent in May. Sanders is on track to make his 2024 regular-season debut in Week 13 against the Browns on Monday, Dec. 2.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Will remain on PUP list

Sanders (Achilles) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Despite being a full practice participant all week, Sanders will remain on the reserve/PUP list. Given his progress, Sanders could very well make his 2024 regular-season debut in Week 12 against the Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 24.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Won't return for Week 10

Sanders (Achilles) was limited in practice Friday, but he has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Kansas City. Sanders opened the regular season on the Broncos' reserve/PUP list while working his way back from an Achilles procedure in May, but he has been designated to return from IR after his 21-day practice window opened Wednesday, per Aric DiLalla of the team's official site. Sanders was able to practice in a limited capacity all week, and while he won't play Sunday, he appears to be close to making his 2024 regular-season debut. Sanders played in all 17 regular-season games during his rookie campaign in 2023 and finished with 24 tackles (13 solo) and one fumble recovery.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Opens season on PUP list

Sanders (Achilles) was placed on the reserve/PUP list by the Broncos on Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official website reports. Sanders has been working his way back from Achilles surgery undergone in May, and he's not likely to play until late November at earliest. The linebacker could very well sit out the entire year, but the team's decision to avoid placing him on injured reserve suggests there's still hope for Sanders in 2024.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Goes to PUP list

Sanders (Achilles) was placed on the active/PUP list Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Sanders is still recovering from the Achilles surgery he underwent in late May, so the injury designation comes as no surprise. The linebacker faces an uphill battle to be available to play at all in 2024, though head coach Sean Payton has expressed some optimism in the past.

  • Broncos' Drew Sanders: Set to start

Sanders is expected to start at inside linebacker Sunday alongside Alex Singleton, Troy Renck of Denver7.com reports. With Josey Jewell (groin) sidelined, Sanders is the next-man-up for Denver. The rookie played only three defensive snaps in the Broncos' first two games before logging 44 (62 percent) in last week's 70-20 loss in Miami.
