  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Solid outing in loss

Turner logged four tackles (two solo) in Cincinnati's loss versus the Broncos on Monday. Turner had a solid outing despite the loss, and he's now racked up 10 tackles (six solo) and an interception across the first four games of the season. The 24-year-old will look to improve upon this performance during the team's Week 5 matchup versus the Lions.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Active for Week 3

Turner (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Turner logged limited sessions Thursday and Friday but was always expected to suit up in Week 3. The 2023 second-round pick will be the Bengals' top CB against Justin Jefferson and the Vikings, as Marco Wilson and DJ Ivey attempt to replace Cam Taylor-Britt (hamstring). Turner has four tackles (two solo) and an interception through two games this season.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Getting first-team reps

Turner (collarbone) was part of Cincinnati's projected first-team lineup during OTAs on Tuesday, WKRC Sports reports. Turner spent the last six games of the 2024 season on the sidelines healing from a broken collarbone, but he's now back on the field for offseason workouts. More promising yet for Turner is that he's drilling as a starter at corner opposite Cam Taylor-Britt. His primary competition for a starting job in 2025 will come from Dax Hill, Josh Newton and Jalen Davis.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Appears in 11 games in 2024

Turner (collarbone) finished the 2024 season with 29 tackles (24 solo) and eight pass breakups across 11 games with Cincinnati. The No. 60 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, Turner started six of the 11 games in which he appeared but missed the final six contests with a broken collarbone, which landed him on injured reserve. He took over as an every-down outside cornerback in Week 5 and held the position until his injury in Week 11. It's unclear what the Bengals' plans are at cornerback going into 2025, but this defense needs upgrades at all three levels after the team allowed the fourth-most passing touchdowns in the NFL, leading to the firing of DC Lou Anarumo.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Broken collarbone confirmed

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Tuesday that Turner sustained a fractured clavicle during Sunday's loss to the Chargers and will be placed on injured reserve, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports. Just as the Bengals had feared, Turner suffered a significant injury in the Week 11 loss, and there's a good chance he'll miss the remainder of the season as a result. The loss of Turner will likely open up a starting spot in the secondary for rookie fifth-rounder Josh Newton. Expect the Bengals to formally place Turner on IR later this week.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Likely out for season

Turner is feared to have sustained a fractured clavicle in Sunday's game against the Chargers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The 2023 second-rounder was settling into a starting role at cornerback, but now it looks like his second season is probably going to get cut short. If that ends up being the case, rookie fifth-rounder Josh Newton would figure to step up as a starter.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Questionable to return Sunday

Turner has a right shoulder injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chargers. The cornerback fell to the turf after breaking up a pass intended for Los Angeles wide receiver Quentin Johnston. Turner recorded a solo tackle and three total pass breakups before exiting. Josh Newton is his backup.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Likely starting moving forward

Turner is the top candidate to fill in for the injured Dax Hill (knee) on the Bengals' defense, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. The 2023 second-round pick filled in for Hill when he exited Cincinnati's 41-38 overtime loss to the Ravens in Week 5, and Turner is expected to remain on the Bengals' first-team defense with his teammate out for the remainder of the season. Turner has accumulated 63 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and defended nine passes across his first 23 NFL regular-season games. He'll aim to bolster a Cincinnati defense that currently ranks in the bottom 10 in the NFL in points allowed per game (29.0), yards per pass attempt (6.9) and yards per play (5.6).

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Competition for starting gig

Turner and Dax Hill are competing for the starting perimeter cornerback role opposite Cam Taylor-Britt, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Turner claimed a starting role with Cincinnati by Week 12 of his rookie season, but the 2023 second-round pick is now in a true competition with Hill, who lined up at safety last season. Conway reports that Hill could have an early lead in the competition as of mandatory minicamp, but it will be difficult to make much of offseason practices until full pads come on at training camp in late July.
