What Are The Packers' Biggest Questions?

Player Outlook
Kraft was on his way to a breakout Fantasy season and had the potential to challenge Trey McBride and Brock Bowers for the TE1 overall before a torn ACL ended his 2025 season. Kraft finished with six touchdowns scored in just seven full games, and he was TE2 in Fantasy scoring before the injury. He finished as a top-nine TE in scoring in all but three of his starts, and he was the TE1 in two of his games in 2025. His 2.33 yards per route run made him one of the most efficient pass catchers in the NFL, and it is an excellent sign for his 2026 projection. Where Kraft really separates himself is after the catch -- he averaged 8.8 YAC in 2025. His post-catch upside makes him a high-upside bet in 2026 Fantasy drafts despite returning from the torn ACL. Kraft is on track to participate in the preseason at some point. The burly YAC machine will carry some risk as a Round 6 pick coming off the injury, but his ceiling is as high as any tight end in the league.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Expects to be on snap count early in season

Kraft said Sunday that he expects the Packers to limit his reps "probably until halfway through the season," Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Kraft has been trending toward returning Week 1 following a season-ending torn ACL suffered during Week 9 of the 2025 campaign, and he also returned to 11-on-11 drills for the first time Sunday. The fourth-year tight end added that he's hoping not to be on a rep count for the regular-season opener, per Demovsky, so it'll be worth monitoring his status leading into that game versus the Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 13. Kraft played at least 88 percent of the Packers' offensive snaps in each of their first seven games before going down last year. He finished with 32 catches for 489 yards and six touchdowns over eight contests in 2025. Kraft also was asked whether he expects a new contract by Week 1, saying "that's the goal," according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Cleared for 11-on-11 drills

Head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters that Kraft (knee) will participate in 11-on-11 team drills during Sunday's training camp practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Kraft opened training camp on the active/PUP list but has slowly increased his workload over the course of the last couple of weeks. His clearance to work in team drills is another positive step in his recovery from a torn ACL that he sustained in Week 9 of the 2025 season. Kraft is unlikely to play in either of the Packers' last two preseason games but appears to be on track to suit up Week 1 against the Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 13.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Trending toward active status Week 1

Kraft (knee) appears on track to be available for the Packers' Week 1 matchup with the Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 13, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Kraft spent the first two days of training camp on the active/PUP list, but he's been active on the field for most practices since then, including Monday's session when he was seen running routes on air while catching passes from QB Jordan Love without a sleeve on his right knee. Said knee endured a torn ACL in Week 9 of last season, but considering Kraft's slow build-up to date in camp, Rapoport's report lines up with an appearance for the tight end in the regular-season opener. Another question surrounding Kraft is whether or not he and the Packers are able to agree to terms on a contract extension.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Runs routes in full pads

Kraft (knee) ran routes on air in full pads while catching passes from QB Jordan Love at Monday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. Most notably for Kraft, he wasn't wearing the sleeve he'd been wearing on his right knee from the first nearly two weeks of training camp. He suffered an ACL tear in that knee Week 9 of last season, and while he sat out Friday's Family Night practice, he was back on the field as of Monday and continues to increase his reps as a Week 1 matchup at Minnesota on Sunday, Sept. 13 draws closer. It doesn't appear likely Kraft will play during the preseason, and the question remains whether or not he and the Packers will agree to a contract extension.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Lands on PUP list

The Packers have placed Kraft (ACL) on the active/PUP list Monday ahead of training camp, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Kraft's placement on the PUP list is no surprise, as the expectation has been that the tight end would begin camp on said list despite his own stated belief of being on track for Week 1. Once Kraft is cleared for on-field activities, Green Bay will be able to activate him at any point in training camp or the preseason. Kraft said in late July that he expects to be a full-go for Week 1, and he remains a candidate for a potential extension with Green Bay before the start of the regular season. Head coach Matt LaFleur said back in May that the hope is for Kraft to get back on the practice field during the early stages of training camp.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: May start camp on PUP list

Kraft (ACL) is likely to begin the first practice of training camp on July 29 on the active/PUP list, though the tight end expects to be a full-go for Week 1, Jason Wilde of Channel 3000 reports. Kraft is still seemingly ahead of schedule in his rehab process, as Packers GM Brian Guteknust previously stated in May. Even if the tight end's recovery from a right ACL tear causes him to kick off training camp on the PUP list, it's possible he could be given the go-ahead to retake the practice field shortly thereafter. As Wilde reports, though, Kraft could desire a new extension before putting on the pads again. NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports that the Packers still hope to ink Kraft to a new long-term deal, as he's currently heading into the final year of his rookie contract. Green Bay has a history of exercising caution with player recoveries, especially from injuries such as ACL tears, but Kraft, Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur have all offered optimism about the No. 1 tight end's progress.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Could be ready for training camp

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that Kraft (ACL) could be back on the field by the start of, or during, training camp, Weston Hodkiewicz of the team's official site reports. GM Brian Gutekunst said in early May that Kraft is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a right ACL tear and is expected to be back in the starting lineup early during the 2026 regular season, but LaFleur's current prognostication is arguably even more optimistic. The 25-year-old tight end is working his way back from surgery undergone last November after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 9 of the 2025 campaign. Before going down, Kraft had firmly established himself as one of the focal points of Green Bay's passing attack. With Romeo Doubs now in New England and Dontayvion Wicks in Philadelphia, Kraft stands alongside Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden as one of Jordan Love's top pass-catching options heading into 2026. In contrast to Kraft, LaFleur said he expects Micah Parsons (ACL) to begin training camp on the PUP list, per Ryan Wood of USA Today.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Ahead of schedule in recovery

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Tuesday that Kraft (ACL) is "a little bit ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a right ACL tear and that both he and Micah Parsons (ACL) are expected to be "back early in the [regular] season," Andrew Bandstra of Channel 3000 News reports. Gutekunst previously labeled Kraft ahead of schedule in mid-January, and it appears the tight end's progress has continued on an encouraging track. He noted that Kraft is further along in his rehab than Parsons, which makes sense considering the timing of their respective ACL tears (early Nov. vs. mid-Dec.). Kraft, meanwhile, has stated that he's targeting a Week 1 return. He's entering his age-26 season and the final year of his deal with the Packers, though Gutekunst has confirmed talks regarding an extension are underway. After Green Bay allowed Romeo Doubs to sign elsewhere as a free agent (Patriots) and dealt Dontayvion Wicks in a trade (Eagles), Kraft is facing a clearer path to targets alongside returning wideouts Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden. In eight regular-season games prior to tearing his ACL in 2025, Kraft had emerged as Green Bay's leading receiver with 32 grabs for 489 yards and six scores on 44 targets.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Extension talks underway

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Wednesday that the team has already "been in contact" with Kraft (ACL) regarding a potential contract extension, Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site reports. Kraft said in mid-January that he's ahead of schedule in his recovery from a right ACL tear suffered in early November and that he expects to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 campaign. Across eight-regular season appearances prior to his knee injury, Kraft had emerged as Green Bay's leading receiver with a 32-489-6 line (44 targets), putting him on the trajectory not only for a career-best season, but also a high-end fantasy finish. The 25-year-old tight end currently is entering the final year of his rookie deal, but it appears the Packers may prioritize agreeing to terms on a long-term extension before then. Gutekunst noted that Kraft is "a really important part of this football team" and provides a positive impact "not only as a player but as a leader."

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Heads to IR

The Packers placed Kraft (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday. Kraft's move to IR was merely a formality after head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Monday that the third-year tight end sustained a season-ending ACL tear in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Panthers. Luke Musgrave will serve as the Packers' top pass-catching option at TE.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Out for season with ACL tear

Kraft is slated to miss the remainder of the season after tests on his right knee confirmed that he suffered an ACL tear during Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Panthers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Coming off a career-best performance in the Packers' Week 8 win over the Steelers in which he registered seven catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets, Kraft's breakthrough third season has now come to a screeching halt. The Packers haven't revealed whether the tight end sustained any additional ligament damage beyond the ACL tear, but more information should be known once he undergoes surgery in the coming days or weeks. With Kraft bound for injured reserve, the Packers are expected to turn to Luke Musgrave as their top pass-catching option at tight end for the remainder of the season, while blocking specialist John FitzPatrick could also be in line for extra snaps.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Knee injury 'does not look good'

Coach Matt LaFleur said after Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Panthers that Kraft's knee injury "does not look good," Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Kraft exited in the third quarter after his right knee was rolled up on by a Packers teammate during a 15-yard Josh Jacobs carry. The tight end initially was deemed questionable to return but was ruled out in the fourth quarter. LaFleur also told Demovsky that "it's going to be tough" to replace Kraft, but he specifically touched on fellow TE Luke Musgrave, saying he's "played a ton of football for us." Musgrave and John FitzPatrick are the current healthy TEs on Green Bay's active roster, and if Ian Rapoport of NFL Network's report that the team fears that Kraft suffered a torn ACL proves to be accurate, that duo will be tasked with filling the void for the rest of the campaign.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Not returning Sunday

Kraft (knee) won't return to Sunday's game against the Panthers. Kraft injured his right knee when he was rolled up on while blocking during a 15-yard run from Josh Jacobs in the third quarter. Kraft will finish Week 9 action with two catches (on three targets) for 20 yards. The severity of the issue isn't known, but John FitzPatrick and Luke Musgrave figure to take on larger roles if Kraft is forced to miss any time.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Injures knee Sunday

Kraft sustained a knee injury during Sunday's game against the Panthers. Kraft was rolled up on by a teammate while attempting to block during a Josh Jacobs 15-yard run early in the third quarter. Kraft needed assistance to reach the sideline before the Packers announced the nature of the health concern. He had two catches (on three targets) for 20 yards at the time he exited.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Explodes for two scores on SNF

Kraft hauled in seven of nine targets for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Sunday's 35-25 win over the Steelers. Kraft scored the Packers' first and final touchdowns in a thrilling comeback victory, fittingly resulting in a career night on National Tight Ends Day. The 24-year-old was already riding a hot streak after scoring in each of his previous two outings, and he managed to surpass the combined production from those two starts with Sunday's statistical explosion. Kraft bumped his season line up to 29-469-6 through seven games, making him a premier fantasy option for next Sunday's tilt against Carolina.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Starting Tight Ends

The Cardinals like to give up big games to tight ends, and hopefully Kraft will follow suit in Week 7. Arizona has allowed four tight ends to score at least 12.2 PPR points this season, including Juwan Johnson, Ja'Tavion Sanders, A.J. Barner and Tyler Warren. Kraft has scored at least 10.6 PPR points in three of his past four games, and he has top-five upside in this matchup on the road.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Scores third touchdown

Kraft recorded two catches on two targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-18 win over the Bengals. Kraft had a quiet day, with Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden dominating looks among the Green Bay pass catchers. He salvaged the low-volume performance with a pair of big plays, the most important of which was a 19-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. Kraft now has three touchdowns on the season while also recording at least three catches in three of his five games.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Five catches against Dallas

Kraft recorded five receptions on five targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 40-40 overtime tie against Dallas. Kraft was one of four Packers pass catchers to record at least 50 yards, and he finished third on the team in targets. His biggest impact came on Green Bay's opening possession, when he recorded two receptions for 22 yards and was tackled just short of the goal line. Kraft has at least four targets in all four games this season and has at least 50 receiving yards or a touchdown in three of four contests.

  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Another limited session

Kraft (knee/elbow) was a limited practice participant Thursday. Kraft tweaked his knee at practice last Thursday but was able to gut through it this past Sunday in Cleveland, logging 88 percent of the offensive snaps, running a route 67 percent of the time and turning four targets into three catches for 29 yards. So far during Week 4 prep, the third-year TE has operated with a cap on his reps and also has been donning a sleeve on his right leg. Speaking of last week's health scare, Kraft told Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com that his knee "got extended in a weird way" while blocking. Kraft will have one more chance to get back to a full practice this week, and Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not he has a designation ahead of Sunday's visit to the Cowboys.
... See More ... See Less
  • Packers' Tucker Kraft: Limited by pair of injuries

Kraft was limited at Wednesday's practice due to knee and elbow injuries. Kraft tweaked his left knee at practice last Thursday, but he was able to start this past Sunday's game in Cleveland and pace Packers tight ends in snap share (88 percent). His pass-catching prowess from the first two weeks of the season wasn't evident, though, as he hauled in three of four targets for 29 yards and no touchdowns. Kraft getting on-field work to begin Week 4 prep generally is a good sign that he'll be available Sunday at Dallas, but his status still bears watching as the week goes on to ensure he'll be available.
