Player Outlook
Douglas has shown flashes in two seasons with the Patriots, but he has yet to exceed 40 receiving yards per game and has caught three touchdowns in his career. Douglas is a late-round draft pick at best. If Stefon Diggs is ready for Week 1, Douglas might be best left for the waiver wire. The hope for Douglas -- and all of New England's pass catchers -- is that Drake Maye breaks out in his second season and Douglas would benefit from being in a better offense. He is a reliable, short-area slot wide receiver who caught 76% of his targets last season. However, the addition of Diggs and rookie Kyle Williams might be too much for Douglas to overcome.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Fails to catch only target Saturday

Douglas didn't catch his only target in Saturday's 20-12 preseason win over the Vikings. Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins got the start at wide receiver for the Patriots, but Douglas made a brief cameo on the team's first possession and couldn't connect with Drake Maye on a shot downfield. The 2023 sixth-round pick seems locked into a starting job opposite Stefon Diggs (knee) once the regular season begins, and if Maye takes the leap forward expected of him in his second NFL campaign, Douglas should be able to surpass the 66-621-3 line he posted on 87 targets over 17 games last season.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Displaying consistency in camp

Douglas has been the Patriots' most consistent receiver in training camp thus far, according to Paul Perillo of the team's official site. The third-year wideout logged 66 catches on 87 targets for 621 yards and three TDs in 17 regular-season games in 2024 and has been showing improvement as a route runner in camp. With Josh McDaniels having been brought back as the Patriots offensive coordinator ahead of the 2025 campaign, Douglas has an opportunity to make his mark in PPR formats, while working in an offensive system that tends to feature its top slot receiver. In addition to Douglas' strong showing, projected No. 1 wideout Stefon Diggs continues to look sharp as he bounces back from a knee injury, giving second-year quarterback Drake Maye a solid platform from which to grow as a passer.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Set to reprise role in slot

As training camp approaches, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site views Douglas as a lock to secure a role in the team's revamped wide receiver corps. When healthy, free agent addition Stefon Diggs (knee) is projected to emerge as the team's WR1, with Douglas set to reprise his slot role in the offense. Meanwhile, rookie third-rounder Kyle Williams and newcomer Mack Hollins are also likely see their share of snaps in 2025, with Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker and Efton Chism also in the mix for depth chart slotting. On the heels of a 2024 regular season in which he recorded 66 catches on 87 targets for 621 yards and three TDs in 17 games, Douglas should maintain enough volume in his third pro campaign to merit lineup consideration in deeper PPR formats, in particular if Drake Maye continues to make strides in his second year as New England's franchise QB.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Catches 66 passes this season

Douglas finished the 2024 regular season with 66 catches (on 87 targets) for 621 yards and three TDs in 17 games. Douglas, who also recorded three carries for 16 yards, ended up tied with tight end Hunter Henry for the team lead in catches during the Patriots' 4-13 season. Looking ahead, Douglas is poised to maintain his key role in the team's offense in 2025, and working with ascending young QB Drake Maye should provide the 2023 sixth-rounder with a decent weekly fantasy floor in PPR formats next season.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Finds end zone in loss

Douglas caught four passes for 46 yards and one touchdown on five targets in Saturday's 40-7 loss to the Chargers. Douglas' best catch was a 36-yard touchdown where Drake Maye found him in the end zone on a free penalty play. Douglas' other four targets produced only 10 yards, a reflection of the overall struggles facing the Patriots offense, but Douglas has made clear by this point that he's a quality wideout and one the Patriots would probably do well to feature more consistently, even if it means giving Douglas more snaps in two-wide sets. As long as the Patriots insist on giving Douglas snaps in only three-wide formations, there will be a hard cap on his fantasy upside, despite his apparent talents otherwise. Douglas and the Patriots take on the Bills in Week 18.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Four catches in loss

Douglas recorded four receptions on five targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Bills. Douglas played a complementary role in the loss, with both Kayshon Boutte and Hunter Henry enjoying more production and earning more targets. After seeing at least five targets in seven of New England's first 12 games, he's failed to hit that mark in three straight contests. Given his lack of explosive ability, that makes Douglas tough to trust down the stretch in matchups against the Chargers and Bills.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Cashes in short TD on Sunday

Douglas hauled in all three of his targets for 11 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-17 loss to Arizona. Douglas came out of New England's bye week in good health and rewarded deep-league managers with his second touchdown of the season. The sophomore starter has quietly provided value for those in PPR formats with a 55-508-2 receiving line through 14 games. With his ankle injury in the rearview mirror, Douglas remains serviceable to those in the aforementioned formats against the Bills next Sunday.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Active versus Colts

Douglas (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Colts. After being deemed a limited participant on all three of New England's practice reports this week, Douglas headed into the weekend listed as questionable. With his active status confirmed, the 2023 sixth-rounder -- who tops New England's WR corps in catches (48), receiving yards (477) and targets (66) -- will have an opportunity to remain a key target for QB Drake Maye, which puts the wideout on the Week 13 PPR radar. Over his last four contests, Douglas has combined for 20 catches (on 27 targets) for 206 yards.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Likely to play Sunday

Douglas (ankle) remains listed as questionable but is expected to play Sunday against the Colts, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Douglas was listed as a limited participant on all three of the Patriots' practice reports this week, but the team is apparently confident that he'll be able to play through the ankle issue Sunday. Official confirmation on Douglas' status will arrive when New England releases its inactive list around 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Since Drake Maye took over as the Patriots' starting quarterback beginning in Week 6, Douglas has produced a 30-324-1 receiving line on 42 targets in seven contests.

  • Patriots' Demario Douglas: Week 13 Waiver Priority List

Douglas had a solid game in Week 12 at Miami with five catches for 62 yards on seven targets, and he has the potential to be a weekly No. 3 receiver in PPR. Douglas now has six games this season with at least seven targets, and he scored at least 10.5 PPR points in all of them, including two outings with at least 14.8 PPR points. He's worth adding for at least 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Team-high yardage in loss

Douglas secured five of seven targets for 62 yards and rushed once for one yard in the Patriots' 34-15 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. Douglas finished with a co-team-high number of receptions while setting the pace in receiving yards for the Patriots on an unproductive afternoon for the offense overall. The second-year wideout has at least four catches in four consecutive games, and his yardage total Sunday was his highest since Week 6. Douglas' next opportunity to continue building rapport with rookie signal-caller Drake Maye comes in a Week 13 home matchup against the Colts.

  • Patriots' Demario Douglas: Sleeper WRs

Douglas had six catches for 59 yards on nine targets in Week 5 against Miami in the final start for Jacoby Brissett. I hope he gets nine targets against the Dolphins in the rematch, with Drake Maye now under center. Douglas has five games this season with at least seven targets, and he scored at least 10.5 PPR points in all of them, including two outings with at least 14.8 PPR points. Five receivers have scored at least 14 PPR points against the Dolphins in their past four games, and I like Douglas as a No. 3 PPR receiver in Week 12.

  • Patriots' Demario Douglas: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

Douglas unfortunately may just hover in the 9-10.5 PPR point range he's been in for the past three games, which gives him a safe floor, but no ceiling. He hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 6, which is his lone touchdown this year, and he's averaging just seven targets a week for the past three games. But I still believe in his talent, and I like his role with the Patriots as a go-to receiver for Drake Maye. In PPR, Douglas should be rostered in all leagues, and I would add him for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Patriots' Demario Douglas: Week 11 Waiver Priority List

I'm still confident that Douglas and Drake Maye are going to start connecting for big games on a consistent basis, like we saw in Week 6 against Houston when Douglas had six catches for 92 yards and a touchdown on nine targets. They've had a hard time connecting on the field since, and both have been banged up as well in the past four weeks. That said, Douglas has the best potential to help Fantasy managers of New England's receiving corps, and he's worth stashing on your bench for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Four grabs in Sunday's win

Douglas caught four of five targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 19-3 win over the Bears. Neither offense saw much success Sunday, but Douglas at least tied for the Patriots' lead in receptions with Kayshon Boutte, Douglas' 50 yards were his highest total since Week 6, and on the season he sports a modest 39-356-1 line on 53 targets through 10 games. The switch to rookie Drake Maye under center gives the New England passing attack more upside, but so far Douglas hasn't benefitted on a consistent basis. The slot receiver could make a bigger impact in Week 11 against the Rams.

  • Patriots' Demario Douglas: Stashes (WR Preview)

Douglas and Maye finally played another full game together and Douglas saw nine targets. The down side is that he only scored 10.5 PPR Fantasy points on those nine targets. I'm not ready to start him but I do want to make sure he's rostered in all of my PPR leagues.

  • Patriots' Demario Douglas: Week 10 Waiver Priority List

Douglas has played two complete games with Drake Maye, and Douglas has nine targets in each of those outings. He had six catches for 92 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against Houston and seven catches for 35 yards in Week 9 at Tennessee. Douglas can be a No. 3 PPR receiver when he and Maye are healthy, and Douglas is worth adding for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Seven catches in loss

Douglas recorded seven catches on nine targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss to the Titans. Douglas led the Patriots with nine targets and tied for the team lead with seven receptions. Drake Maye didn't push the ball down the field much, limiting Douglas' yardage potential, though he still managed his first catch of at least 20 yards since Week 6 and just his fourth such reception of the campaign. While his final line was unremarkable, Douglas' ability to command targets was notable after seeing only six combined across his two prior games.

  • Patriots' Demario Douglas: Week 9 Waiver Priority List

The last time Douglas and Drake Maye finished a game together that they started was Week 6 against Houston, and Douglas had six catches for 92 yards and a touchdown on nine targets. Since then, Douglas got sick in Week 7 at Jacksonville in London, and Maye suffered a concussion in Week 8 against the Jets. I don't mind stashing Douglas to see what he does with Maye under center, but most likely, Jacoby Brissett will start for the Patriots in Week 9 against the Titans. Douglas is worth adding for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Patriots' DeMario Douglas: Stays quiet with two catches

Douglas caught two of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 25-22 win over the Jets. Douglas finished sixth on the team in receiving yards while no Patriots player had more than 46 receiving yards or a touchdown through the air. The slot receiver will likely be catching passes from Jacoby Brissett in Week 9 against the Titans, as Drake Maye entered the concussion protocol in the first half of Sunday's win.
