  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Practicing with team

Thibodeaux (shoulder) practiced with the team Thursday, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports. Dunleavy previously reported that Thibodeaux was less likely to be traded by the Giants following the trade of Dexter Lawrence in April. Now, Thibodeaux appears back to full health after a shoulder injury forced him to miss the final seven games of the 2025 season. He's aiming for a bounce-back season, as he produced just 7.0 sacks over his last two seasons combined (22 games). There's plenty of talent to work with, however, as he generated 11.5 sacks during the 2023 campaign.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Trade reportedly less likely

Following the trade of fellow key defender Dexter Lawrence, Thibodeaux (shoulder) is less likely to be moved by the Giants, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Giants have fielded trade calls regarding Thibodeaux for the last few months, but the departure of Lawrence presumably lessens the team's incentive to consider dealing Thibodeaux, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old was limited to 10 regular-season games in 2025, but after finishing the campaign on IR due to a shoulder injury, Thibodeaux should be past the issue well before Week 1.

The Giants placed Thibodeaux (shoulder) on injured reserve Saturday. Thibodeaux will miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign due to a shoulder injury he initially sustained in Week 10. Thibodeaux finishes his fourth NFL season with 25 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two pass breakups over 10 appearances.

In 10 appearances this season, Thibodeaux has tallied 25 total tackles, including 2.5 sacks, and two passes defensed. While he remains sidelined in Week 16, expect rookie Abdul Carter to start opposite Brian Burns.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Ruled out for Week 15

Thibodeaux (shoulder) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Matt Citak of the Giants' official site reports. Thibodeaux hasn't suited up since Week 10 versus the Bears, and even coming out of New York's bye in Week 14, there's not yet any indication that he's close to retaking the field. As long as Thibodeaux remains sidelined, rookie first-round pick Abdul Carter will operate as one of the Giants' top pass rushers alongside Brian Burns.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Remains sidelined at practice

Thibodeaux (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Matt Citak of the Giants' official site reports. Thibodeaux's last game action took place in Week 10 against Chicago. He hasn't practiced since, and his continued absence following New York's Week 14 bye doesn't bode well for his chance of returning to action this Sunday against the Commanders. Still, the Giants have opted to not put Thibodeaux on IR to this point, suggesting that they believe he isn't going to remain out for a substantial amount of additional time.

Thibodeaux registered three tackles (two solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's Week 14 loss to the Saints. In addition to the sack, Thibodeaux had an additional quarterback hit and an additional tackle for loss. The sack came at a crucial time, as Thibodeaux brought down Saints QB Jake Haener on a second-down play with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, leading to a New Orleans punt to give New York a shot at a late comeback. Sunday's sack was Thibodeaux's first since Week 5, though it's important to note that he missed Weeks 6-10 due to a wrist injury.

Thibodeaux (wrist) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Thibodeaux's first practice since being designated to return from injured reserve was a limited session, which suggests he could be nearing a return to the field. Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters Wednesday that he's "optimistic" Thibodeaux will play in the Giants' Week 12 matchup against the Buccaneers, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Won't play Sunday

Thibodeaux (wrist) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Thibodeaux underwent wrist surgery Wednesday and could even be placed on injured reserve according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, so it's no surprise that Thibodeaux won't play in Sunday's contest. The 2022 first-round pick out of Oregon has accumulated 12 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, across the Giants' first five games this season. Expect Azeez Ojulari or Patrick Johnson to start opposite Brian Burns as part of the Giants' top pass-rushing duo in Thibodeaux's stead.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Week-to-week after wrist surgery

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Thibodeaux (wrist) underwent surgery Wednesday and is considered week-to-week, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. Thibodeaux seems likely to miss Sunday's game against the Bengals, if not longer, as he works his way back from the wrist procedure. The standout pass rusher has played above 70 percent of defensive snaps in all five of New York's games, and piling up 12 tackles (eight solo) and two sacks. Patrick Johnson and Azeez Ojulari will be candidates to handle increased roles at outside linebacker while Thibodeaux is on the mend.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Nabs sack Week 4

Thibodeaux recorded three tackles, including 1.0 sacks, in Thursday's Week 4 loss to Dallas. Thibodeaux's sack came late in the second quarter and stalled the Cowboys' attempt to put up more points before halftime. The third-year edge rusher has 1.5 sacks through four weeks, so he'll need to step up the pace in order to reach the 11.5 sacks he posted last year. Thibodeaux logged a season-high 82 percent of New York's defensive snaps in Thursday's loss.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Working in new defensive scheme

Thibodeaux and fellow edge rusher Brian Burns will be heavily depended upon to pressure the quarterback this season under new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, Matt Citak of the team's official site reports. Under since-ousted defensive coordinator Wink Martindale last year, the Giants blitzed 46.2 percent of the time, the second-highest rate in the league. Meanwhile, Bowen's Tennessee Titan defense blitzed on just 20.4 percent of defensive plays -- 24th in the NFL. Bowen's approach is likely to carry over to his work with New York, which means that Thibodeaux's and Burns' importance as pass rushers will be magnified. That could lead to Thibodeaux ascending to new heights after breaking out with 11.5 sacks in his second NFL campaign last year.

  • Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux: Shines with eight stops

Thibodeaux recorded eight tackles, including a half-sack, and forced a fumble against Green Bay in Monday's 24-22 victory. His biggest play came in the second quarter when he stalled a Green Bay drive that had reached New York territory by ripping the ball away from Jordan Love, causing a fumble that the Giants recovered. Thibodeaux was also part of a split sack of Love in the third period, giving him at least half a sack in three straight contests and pushing his total on the season to 11.5.
