• Jerry Jacobs: Let go with injury settlement

  Rotowire Aug 20, 2024

The Rams waived Jacobs (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Jacobs did not suit up for the Rams' preseason game against the Chargers on Saturday. He played in 15 regular-season games with the Lions in 2023, finishing the season with a career-high 55 tackles (49 solo), eight passes defended and three interceptions. Once healthy, Jacobs will look to catch on with a team in need of depth in the secondary.

• Rams' Jerry Jacobs: Signs, practices with Rams

  Rotowire Jul 27, 2024

The Rams officially signed Jacobs on Saturday, Nick Hamilton of SiriusXM reports. Jacobs' signing comes in the wake of Derion Kendrick's season-ending ACL tear and Darious Williams' hamstring strain. Jacobs practiced with the Rams on Saturday, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, so he appears to be clear of the hamstring injury that caused him to finish last year on injured reserve. If Williams is unable to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, Jacobs may need to step in to start.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Shifts to IR

  Rotowire Jan 13, 2024

Jacobs (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. The 26-year-old had already been ruled out for Detroit's wild-card affair due to a hamstring injury, but it now seems as if issue will hold him out for the remainder of the season. With Jacobs going on IR, Steven Gilmore and Khalil Dorsey could both see increased work in the Lions' secondary.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Won't play in wild-card round

  Rotowire Jan 12, 2024

Jacobs (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports. Jacobs logged back-to-back DNPs to end Detroit's week of practice, so it's no surprise that the 26-year-old has been ruled out for Sunday's affair. In Jacobs' absence, Steven Gilmore could see increased work as a rotational cornerback in the Lions' secondary.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Deemed FP for Tuesday's walk-through

  Rotowire Dec 26, 2023

Jacobs (hamstring) was estimated as a full participant in Tuesday's practice walk-through, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports. Jacobs missed Sunday's Week 16 win over Minnesota due to a hamstring issue, and he was unable to practice at all last week. However, the third-year cornerback's estimated full participation Tuesday suggests that he's shown significant improvement. Detroit plays Dallas on Saturday, and Jacobs will likely be able to return for that contest as long as he doesn't have any setbacks.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Won't play Week 16

  Rotowire Dec 22, 2023

Jacobs (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings. Jacobs sustained a hamstring injury during the Lions' Week 15 win over the Broncos, and he was unable to practice all week, so it's no surprise that he won't suit up Sunday. With Jacobs missing his second game of the season Week 16, expect Steven Gilmore to see increased snaps in Detroit's secondary.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Held out of practice Wednesday

  Rotowire Dec 20, 2023

Jacobs (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday. Jacobs exited in the second half of Saturday's game against Denver due to a hamstring injury and didn't return. The severity of the issue is unclear, but his status for Sunday's matchup against the Vikings is in doubt given his inability to practice Wednesday. Prior to his exit Saturday, it appeared Jacobs had lost his starting role, as all 13 of his snaps were on special teams. Khalil Dorsey started in Jacobs' place Saturday and performed well, so he is likely to continue working in that role regardless of Jacobs' status for Week 16.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Added to injury report

  Rotowire Oct 21, 2023

Jacobs is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens due to a knee injury. It is unclear when Jacobs picked up the knee issue, but his status for Week 7 is up in the air as a result. If he does not get the green light, Chase Lucas and Brian Branch would be prime candidates to fill in opposite Cameron Sutton at corner. Still, more clarity on Jacobs' status is unlikely to come until closer to kickoff.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Getting up to speed

  Rotowire May 12, 2022

Jacobs (knee) was on the field for an offseason workout May 10, according to the Lions' official site. Jacobs is bouncing back from a torn ACL he suffered last December. He'll be over seven months removed from surgery by the time training camp kicks off this summer, but it remains a strong possibility that he could miss games to start to the 2022 season. When healthy, Jacobs will compete for a rotational role at cornerback under Amani Oruwariye, Mike Hughes, Jeff Okudah (Achilles), and AJ Parker.

• Lions' Jerry Jacobs: Diagnosed with ACL injury

  Rotowire Dec 13, 2021

Jacobs announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he suffered an ACL injury to his knee in Sunday's loss to the Broncos. The Lions haven't elaborated on the extent of Jacobs' knee issue, but the fact that he termed his injury as "a minor setback for a major comeback" suggests he suffered a season-ending ACL tear. If that's the case, Jacobs will likely be sent in for surgery in the coming days. The undrafted rookie had emerged as a key piece in the Detroit secondary, logging 34 tackles, seven pass breakups and a forced fumble across 13 games.
