  • Adrian Martinez: Back with San Francisco

The 49ers signed Martinez to the practice squad Tuesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Martinez was cut from the 53-man roster over the weekend after Brock Purdy was cleared to return from his toe injury. Martinez will continue to provide organizational depth at quarterback behind Purdy and Mac Jones.

  • Adrian Martinez: Cut by San Francisco

The 49ers waived Martinez on Saturday. Martinez's services on the 49ers' active roster are no longer needed, as Mac Jones will revert to a backup role for Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to the return of Brock Purdy (toe). Martinez could be brought back by San Francisco on the practice squad, assuming he clears waivers.

  • 49ers' Adrian Martinez: Signed to Niners' active roster

The 49ers signed Martinez from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Thursday's game against the Rams. Martinez was elevated from the 49ers' practice squad to the active roster for Week 2 and 3 to serve as Mac Jones' backup in the absence of Brock Purdy (toe). Purdy returned for Week 4 against the Jaguars but has been ruled out for Thursday's game in Los Angeles, so Martinez will once again be the QB2 while Jones makes his third start of the regular season.

  • Adrian Martinez: Reverts to practice squad

Martinez reverted to San Francisco's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Martinez served as the 49ers' backup quarterback Sunday but didn't see the field despite Mac Jones aggravating a knee injury during the team's 16-15 win over the Cardinals. Brock Purdy (shoulder/toe) is expected to return to practice this week in a limited capacity and could make his return against the Jaguars in Week 4. Martinez could be elevated to the 49ers' active roster for a third consecutive week depending on the health of Purdy and Jones.

  • 49ers' Adrian Martinez: Elevated again

The 49ers elevated Martinez from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. Martinez served as the backup quarterback to Mac Jones in Week 2. His status is a bit more in question for Week 3 , as Brock Purdy (toe) is officially listed as questionable despite not being expected to start.

  • Adrian Martinez: Reverts to practice squad

Martinez reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction report. With Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) and Kurtis Rourke (knee) both unavailable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Martinez was elevated to the active roster to serve as the 49ers' backup quarterback behind Mac Jones. Purdy is not expected to play Week 3 against the Cardinals, so Martinez will likely be elevated to the active roster for a second straight week.

  • Adrian Martinez: Latches on with Niners

The 49ers signed Martinez to their practice squad Thursday. Martinez was apart of the Jets' final cuts this week and now latches on in San Francisco as organizational depth behind Brock Purdy. Martinez logged 102 offensive snaps this preseason and completed just 30 of 51 pass attempts for 352 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while adding three rushes for 26 yards.

  • Adrian Martinez: Cut loose by Jets

The Jets waived Martinez on Sunday. Martinez was competing for a spot as New York's No. 3 quarterback behind Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor but didn't make it through the team's roster cutdown. He could be a candidate to land on the Jets' practice squad, which is where he spent the entirety of the 2024 campaign.

  • Jets' Adrian Martinez: Second QB in after Fields

Martinez completed 12 of 21 passes for 114 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's 31-12 preseason loss to the Giants. It was a forgettable night for much of the Jets roster, but Martinez was notably the second quarterback into the game for the team after starter Justin Fields. Rookie Brady Cook came in after Martinez's third-quarter interception and proceeded to complete six of 11 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. The competition between Martinez and Cook has taken on greater importance following news that Tyrod Taylor (knee) will miss the remainder of the preseason after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. If Taylor isn't ready by Week 1, Martinez or Cook would begin the season as Fields' backup.

  • Jets' Adrian Martinez: Strong second half Saturday

Martinez completed 11 of 16 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for 13 yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers. Martinez played the entire second half and put forth a strong performance, including a 24-yard touchdown pass to Stone Smartt in the third quarter. Rookie Brady Cook notably came into the game earlier than Martinez, but Martinez had the stronger statistical showing. The battle for the third spot on the Jets' quarterback depth chart between Martinez and Cook will continue in the second preseason game Aug. 16 against the Giants.

  • Jets' Adrian Martinez: Elevated from practice squad

The Jets elevated Martinez from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Martinez will make the trip to London to serve as the third/emergency quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Rodgers had been dealing with knee swelling all week, but he doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's contest.

  • Adrian Martinez: Jettisoned by Jets

Martinez was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Martinez was signed by New York in July and played in all three of the team's preseason contests, completing 25 of 47 passes for 270 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while carrying six times for 51 yards. He never had much of a chance to play a major role to open the campaign with Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor serving as New York's top two options at quarterback, but Martinez could land a spot on the team's practice squad if he clears waivers.
