Player Outlook
McPherson's 2024 was injury-riddled and uninspiring. He missed more field goals in just 12 games than he had missed in any full season before. Still, he's the starting kicker for one of the best offenses in football, so we are optimistic for a bounceback. He ranks as a top-six kicker for all of our analysts and is worth a pick in the final two rounds of your Fantasy draft.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Boots pair of PATs in loss

McPherson knocked through both of his extra-point tries and did not log any field-goal attempts in the Bengals' 41-14 preseason loss to the Colts on Saturday afternoon. The fifth-year pro is coming off a 2024 downturn that saw him convert a career-low 72.7 percent of his field-goal attempts, but he seems poised for a bounce-back campaign if his preseason performance is any indication. McPherson saw time in all three of the Bengals' exhibitions and converted his three field-goal attempts and nine PATs over that span, and his association with a prolific Joe Burrow-led offense therefore makes the talented kicker's outlook bright heading into the 2025 season.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Going back to original technique

McPherson is reverting back to the original kicking technique that he employed in 2021-22 after switching the last two years, a change that drew mixed results, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. He hasn't yet missed a kick in camp. McPherson initially employed a gentle draw, but switched to a kick that in theory flew straighter, taking the wind out of the equation more. But the new technique robbed him of a little distance, and last season the control eluded him, too, leading to six missed kicks, including two critical misses in a loss to the Chargers.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: In line to miss time

McPherson is expected to miss a few weeks due to a groin injury, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. While Garafolo indicates that McPherson's injury is not season-ending, the kicker is on track to miss some time. With that in mind, the Bengals will sign Cade York to their practice squad and are expected to elevate him ahead of Monday's game against the Cowboys.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Kicker to Sit

McPherson has two games with more than five Fantasy points in his past seven outings, and this is a bad matchup. The Steelers are No. 3 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing kickers, and Greg Joseph in Week 8 is the lone kicker with more than nine Fantasy points against Pittsburgh this season. McPherson was also just 2-of-2 on field goals and 1-of-1 on PATs against the Steelers in two games last season.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Kicker to Sit

McPherson only has four games this season with more than six Fantasy points and just one since Week 4. He didn't attempt a field goal in Week 10 at Baltimore and now has five games this season with one field or less. The Chargers are No. 2 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing kickers, and McPherson is not worth trusting in most leagues in Week 11.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Misses 54-yard field-goal attempt

McPherson made one of two field-goal attempts and converted on both of his extra-point tries during Sunday's 37-17 loss to the Eagles. McPherson made a 27-yard chip shot early in the second quarter, but his 54-yard field-goal attempt later in the frame missed wide left. It was his fourth miss on a field-goal attempt this season, and three of the other misses have come over the Bengals' last four regular-season games. McPherson will look to get back on track against the Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 3.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Misses lone try at Cleveland

McPherson missed his only field-goal try and converted all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 21-14 win at Cleveland. A 50-yard try late in the fourth quarter would have extended the Bengals' lead to three scores, but McPherson pushed it wide right. His accuracy to start this season hasn't been totally up to par with the standard he's set for himself over the course of his career, but he should have a chance to make positive corrections as the year progresses if Cincinnati's offense continues to have success moving the ball.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Quiet in low-scoring affair

McPherson made his only field-goal attempt and converted both of his two extra-point tries during Sunday's 17-7 win at the Giants. Not much offense was generated by either team at MetLife in Week 6, but McPherson did what little was asked of him to help get the Bengals to their second win of the season. He'll hope to see more chances in Week 7 at Cleveland.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Misses in loss

McPherson made all four extra-point tries but missed his lone field-goal attempt in Sunday's 41-38 overtime loss to the Ravens. McPherson's only FGA came in overtime from 53 yards out; however, a dropped snap from holder Ryan Rehkow led to a bad hold and a wide-left miss. The field goal was the Flordia product's second miss on the season and first from over 50 yards.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Kicker to Start

McPherson had a big game in Week 2 at Kansas City with four field goals on four attempts, including one from 53 yards. I'm expecting the Bengals offense to have a big night against Washington, and McPherson should get plenty of scoring chances. He has the chance to be a top-five Fantasy kicker in Week 3.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Misses one in loss

McPherson made three extra-point tries but missed one of three field-goal attempts in Monday's 38-33 loss to the Commanders. McPherson missed his first FGA of the night when he sent a 48-yard try wide left in the second quarter. However, he was good from 28 and 31 yards out later in the game. The Florida product is now 7-for-8 on field-goal attempts through three games and 5-for-6 on PATs. Next up is a Week 4 matchup against the Panthers.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Misses key point-after try

McPherson made all four field-goal attempts but missed one of two extra-point tries in Sunday's 26-25 loss to the Chiefs. McPherson connected from 22, 33 and 48 yards out before hitting a 53-yard field goal to give the Bengals a 25-23 lead in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for the Florida product, he was wide right on a PAT following an Andrei Iosivas touchdown catch late in the third quarter, which ultimately ended up being the difference in the score.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Kicks field goal in loss

McPherson made a field goal and two extra-point attempts in Sunday's 25-17 loss to the Chiefs. McPherson's lone FGA came from 34 yards out on the Bengals' opening drive, which gave them a 3-0 lead. He chipped in two PATs in the second quarter, but other than the kickoff to open the second half, the Flordia product didn't take the field again, as Cincinnati was shut out the rest of the way. Next up for McPherson and the Bengals is a Week 18 divisional clash with the Browns.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Makes lone kick in Week 16 loss

McPherson made his only field-goal attempt and didn't try any extra points in Saturday's loss to Pittsburgh. The Bengals fell behind big early and trailed 24-0 at the half, so the team elected to go for a two-point conversion after scoring a touchdown on its opening drive of the third quarter. However, McPherson did get the opportunity to attempt a field goal in the closing seconds of the period with Cincinnati facing a 4th-and-15. The third-year kicker nailed the 35-yard attempt, giving him at least one made field goal in each of the team's 15 games this season.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Stays busy during victory

McPherson made both of his field-goal attempts and all four extra-point tries in Sunday's 34-14 win over the Colts. McPherson made both of his FGAs in the fourth quarter, connecting from 32 and 35 yards out to help seal the win for the Bengals. The third-year pro is now 21-for-26 on the season on field-goal tries, with all five misses coming from beyond 50 yards. Next for McPherson and the Bengals is a matchup with the Vikings in Week 15.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Quiet in low-scoring affair

McPherson converted his only field-goal attempt and his only extra-point try in Sunday's 16-10 loss versus the Steelers. On a day in which Cincinnati was only able to muster 222 yards of total offense, McPherson was predictably a non-factor for the most part. He knocked through a 47-yard field goal with just over two minutes remaining in the game to bring the Bengals within six points, but they couldn't recover his onside kick, and Pittsburgh was able to kneel the remainder of the game away. Cincinnati's offense projects as one of the worst in the league without starting quarterback Joe Burrow, so fantasy managers would probably be wise to look elsewhere for a kicker for the rest of the year.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Misses field goal Thursday

McPherson converted one of his two field-goal attempts and both of his two extra-point tries in Thursday's 34-20 loss at Baltimore. In an otherwise mistake-free game for McPherson, he was unable to send home a 53-yard attempt on the first play of the second quarter that would have cut the Ravens' lead to 7-6. He still hasn't missed from 49 yards or fewer in 2023, but another long miss in Week 11 sent his conversion rate on kicks of 50-plus yards down to 60 percent for the season. With Joe Burrow (wrist) set to miss the rest of the campaign, fantasy prospects for Cincinnati's entire offense and McPherson take a huge ding going into the home stretch.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Perfect in loss

McPherson made both of his field-goal tries and all three extra-point attempts in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Texans. McPherson made a game-tying 31-yard field goal with less than two minutes left in the game, but he never got an opportunity to get the Bengals the win from there. He also connected from 50 yards out in the third quarter, which helped close the gap on the Texans' 13-point lead at the time. McPherson may see fewer opportunities during a Week 11 Thursday night matchup against the typically tough Ravens defense.

  • Bengals' Evan McPherson: Struggling some from long range

McPherson converted one of his two field-goal attempts and all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 31-17 win at San Francisco. McPherson missed his first field-goal try of the day from 50 yards out in the middle of the second quarter, failing to help Cincinnati expand on a 14-7 lead. Later though, he partially made up for the missed chance by connecting on a 56-yarder early in the third quarter to extend the Bengals' lead to 17-10. In all, he has made just four of his seven field-goal attempts from 50-plus yards out in 2023, a far cry from the 87.5 percent conversion rate he managed from that range his first two years in the league. He's still been generally effective overall though, and he projects as a fine fantasy option in Week 9 when Cincinnati hosts Buffalo.
