Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Makes strong case for top job
Rotowire
Coleman carried the ball 11 times for 41 yards and a touchdown and caught four of five targets for 63 yards in Sunday's 28-24 win over Kansas City.
With RJ Harvey (knee) on the shelf, Coleman saw a season-high 15 touches compared to J.K. Dobbins' seven, and the rookie was instrumental in the Broncos' fourth-quarter comeback. After a Harrison Butker missed field goal gave Denver great field position, Coleman was a one-man show on a two-play drive, taking a short pass from Bo Nix and turning it into a 51-yard gain, before punching in a five-yard TD on the other side of the two-minute warning. Dobbins will still mix in on early downs, but Coleman may have just seized control of the backfield for the Broncos. He'll look to solidify his spot in Week 9 against a Panthers defense that's among the worst in the league against the run.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Sleepers (Start/Sit)
Rotowire
Coleman, who was on injured reserve due to an ankle injury for four games prior to Week 7, led Denver's running backs with nine carries for 54 yards and added two catches for 15 yards on two targets against Arizona. After the game, Sean Payton told reporters that they "got to get him (Coleman) more touches. Definitely." We'll see what happens with Coleman and J.K. Dobbins in Week 8 against Kansas City, but Coleman is worth using as a flex, especially with RJ Harvey (knee) out. This isn't an easy matchup since the Chiefs are No. 8 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, but four running backs have scored at least 14.5 PPR points against Kansas City this year. If Payton is true to his word then Coleman could be a nice surprise for Fantasy managers in Week 8.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Increased usage on tap?
Rotowire
Coleman said Friday that he'll be ready for a larger role if that's what the team needs in the absence of RJ Harvey, who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Kansas City due to a knee injury, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Coleman already appeared to make his move last week during a 30-16 win over Arizona, playing 50 percent of snaps on offense while leading the Broncos in carries (nine) and rushing yards (54). Meanwhile, Harvey (25 percent snap share, five touches) and J.K. Dobbins (21 percent snap share, six touches) both scored touchdowns despite losing a lot of playing time to Coleman in the rookie's first game back from injured reserve. There's no assurance Coleman's role will continue to grow, but Harvey's upcoming absence -- be it for one game or longer -- does give Coleman a better chance to consolidate rushing and receiving work in Denver's backfield.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Team-high nine carries in return
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) rushed nine times for 54 yards and caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 30-16 win over the Cardinals.
Coleman led the team in carries in his return from injured reserve and finished second behind Bo Nix (73) in rushing yards. J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey combined for just 29 rushing yards on nine rushing attempts, though Dobbins had a rushing touchdown and Harvey had a receiving touchdown. Coleman was notably the team's running back of choice as the Broncos ran out the clock in the fourth quarter, and head coach Sean Payton said after the game that the team has "got to get (Coleman) more touches," per Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site. Denver will likely continue to utilize all three running backs in Week 8 against the Chiefs, but this was an encouraging performance for Coleman in the rookie fourth-round pick's first action since Week 2.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Questionable for Sunday
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Arizona.
A full practice participant all week, Coleman appears ready to return just as Tyler Badie (thumb) is set to miss at least one game. If Coleman is activated from injured reserve before Sunday, his role could include some of the snaps in clear passing situations. J.K. Dobbins remains the favorite to start and lead the team in carries, but his status as the lead runner may be on thin ice, as he's averaging just 3.3 yards per carry.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Remains full participant
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Coleman has been full each of the first two days of the practice week but remains on injured reserve. He's eligible to be activated ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals. In an offense looking for a jolt, Coleman could immediately have a significant role out of the backfield when he returns. The rookie running back should be rostered in all fantasy formats.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Practices again Thursday
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) was at practice for a second straight day Thursday, Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports reports.
Coleman avoided any setbacks at Wednesday's practice, during which he was a full participant. The rookie fourth-round pick has a good chance of being activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals, though his standing in a Broncos backfield that also includes J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and Tyler Badie (thumb) is murky.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Practices without limits Wednesday
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice.
Coleman's full participation Wednesday after he was designated to return from injured reserve is an encouraging sign regarding his health ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals, though the rookie running back will still need to be added back to the active roster with a subsequent transaction in order to suit up Sunday. Barring any setbacks, Coleman appears poised to rejoin a crowded Broncos backfield that also includes J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and Tyler Badie (thumb).

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Cleared to practice Wednesday
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) was on the field for practice Wednesday after being designated for return from injured reserve, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
The transaction opens up a 21-day window wherein the Broncos can evaluate Coleman for a return from the 53-man roster. Though Coleman is eligible to play as soon as Sunday against the Cardinals, the rookie running back may need more than a week of practice time before the Broncos are ready to bring him back from IR. Prior to being deactivated due to an ankle sprain, Coleman logged 10 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown to go with three catches for 19 yards on three targets through Denver's first two games.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Lands on injured reserve
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) is being placed on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Coleman has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and was unable to practice all week. He'll now go on IR and will be required to miss at least four games, meaning the earliest he can return is Week 7 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Oct. 25. With Coleman sidelined, Tyler Badie could see an uptick in offensive snaps as the third option in the Broncos' backfield behind J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Present for practice
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) returned to practice Friday, Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports reports.
J.K. Dobbins and R.J. Harvey have also been banged up, both both upgraded to full practice participation Thursday and seem ready to play this Sunday against the Rams. Coleman's status is less clear, though he might not have much of a role anyway with both Dobbins and Harvey on track to play. With Harvey out last week and Dobbins exiting early, Coleman took 13 touches for 58 yards and a TD in the 20-13 win over Jacksonville. A repeat performance doesn't appear likely this weekl, but he's at least started building his case for role growth throughout the season.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Sits out another practice
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's injury report.
Coleman was present for Thursday's session, but the ankle injury he sustained Sunday prevented him from getting any work for the second time in as many days. Backfield mates J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey are in the clear for Week 3 after both practicing fully Thursday, and Coleman will likely need to get at least some work in Friday if he hopes to join them.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Back at practice Wednesday
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) was spotted on the field for the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
Coleman was sidelined for the Broncos' first practice of the week Wednesday due to an ankle sprain, but he looks poised to take a step forward in terms of activity a day later. He's one of three Denver running backs on the Week 3 injury report, though Coleman, J.K. Dobbins (hip) and RJ Harvey (hamstring) all appear set to practice in some fashion Thursday.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: DNP on Wednesday
Rotowire
Coleman (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Earlier Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Coleman was tending to an ankle sprain, which added insult to injury to a banged-up Denver backfield. In addition to Coleman, J.K. Dobbins (hip) and RJ Harvey (hamstring, inactive Week 2) were limited at Wednesday's session, leaving plenty of murkiness at the position ahead of Sunday's showdown with the Rams. Coleman likely will need to mix into drills Thursday and/or Friday to have a chance to suit up Week 3.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: On mend from ankle sprain
Rotowire
Coleman is tending to a sprained ankle, which he sustained in Sunday's 20-13 win over Jacksonville, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
With RJ Harvey (hamstring) sitting out the Week 2 win and with J.K. Dobbins (hamstring) missing the entire fourth quarter, Coleman took on an expanded role out of the backfield, finishing with 58 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 13 touches (10 carries, three receptions). He appears to have emerged from that game with a health concern of his own, making the practice activity of each of Denver's top three running backs worthy of monitoring leading up this coming Sunday's game versus the Rams. According to Schefter, Harvey is making good progress in his recovery, while Dobbins avoided a major setback and is expected to practice in some capacity this week.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Week 3 Waiver Priority List
Rotowire
We'll see what happens with J.K. Dobbins (hamstring) and RJ Harvey (hamstring) heading into Week 3 against the Rams, but Coleman would be a must-start Fantasy option if both were out. Harvey missed Week 2 against Jacksonville, and Dobbins was injured against the Jaguars. Coleman stepped up with 10 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown and three catches for 19 yards on three targets. It doesn't appear that Dobbins will be out for an extended period of time and could play against the Rams, but we don't know about Harvey. It's worth speculating on Coleman, given his upside, and he should be added in all leagues for at least 15 percent of your remaining FAAB.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Plays expanded role in win
Rotowire
Coleman rushed 10 times for 39 yards and a touchdown and brought in all three targets for 19 yards in the Broncos' 20-13 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
RJ Harvey (hamstring) was inactive and J.K. Dobbins exited the game with a hamstring injury of his own, opening the door for Coleman to enjoy an expanded role in his only his second NFL regular-season game. The rookie fourth-round pick also scored what turned out to be game-winning touchdown on a three-yard run just past the midway point of the fourth quarter, and he could be in line for a robust workload once again in a Week 3 interconference matchup against the Rams next Sunday night if either or both of Harvey and Dobbins are unavailable.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Four touches in preseason loss
Rotowire
Coleman turned three carries into nine yards and added a catch for minus-2 yards during the Broncos' 33-13 preseason loss to the Packers on Friday.
Coleman was the second Broncos running back in the game after RJ Harvey, with J.K. Dobbins observing Friday's exhibition contest from the sidelines. Coleman, a fourth-round selection of the Broncos in the 2026 NFL Draft, is pushing for a rotational role in the backfield with Dobbins and Harvey, though Coleman may see most of his playing time as a contributor on special teams. The Broncos will wrap up their preseason slate this Friday against the Vikings.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Pushing for role in Denver backfield
Rotowire
Coleman is trending toward being a real part of a Denver running back rotation that also includes J.K. Dobbins (undisclosed) and RJ Harvey, according to Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post.
Coleman, who logged 14 snaps en route to carrying four times for 24 yards in Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons, has drawn very positive reviews from coach Sean Payton, per Gabriel. On that topic, Payton noted that the 2026 fourth-rounder -- who is listed at 5-foot-8, 220 pounds -- has good balance and short-area quickness and is a "real good elusive runner for his size." As long as Dobbins and Harvey are healthy and available, steady volume may be hard to come by for Coleman, but the rookie back still has a chance to carve out a change-of-pace role early on, and perhaps more down the road if injuries hit Denver's backfield.
