  • Eagles' Tariq Castro-Fields: Absent from practice

Castro-Fields (heel) was unavailable for the Eagles' training camp practice Thursday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports. Castro-Fields is dealing with an apparent heel injury, and it'll force him to miss at least one practice. The Eagles will begin their preseason on the road Saturday against the Ravens, and it's currently unclear if the cornerback will be available for the contest.

  • Eagles' Tariq Castro-Fields: Heads to IR

Castro-Fields (hamstring) cleared waivers Wednesday and reverted to injured reserve, per the NFL's official media site. Castro-Fields appeared to pick up this injury during the second preseason game. The 2022 sixth-round pick out of Penn State has played just 12 regular-season games since entering the league, posting four tackles (three solo). He'll remain on injured reserve the rest of the season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.

  • Eagles' Tariq Castro-Fields: Not practicing

Castro-Fields (hamstring) did not practice Monday, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Castro-Fields was one of five Eagles not practicing Monday, following Saturday's preseason loss to Cleveland. The 2022 sixth-round pick has tallied one tackle and two pass deflections in the preseason while trying to crack the 53-man roster in a cornerback room led by Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. He appeared in two regular-season games for Carolina last season before being released in October, and any further missed time in training camp could damage his chances to make the team.

  • 49ers' Tariq Castro-Fields: Final pick of Round 6

The 49ers selected Castro-Fields in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 221st overall. Castro-Fields has prototypical size and speed, as he measured in at 6-foot-1, 197 pounds with a 4.38 40-yard dash and 37-inch vertical. A four-year starter at Penn State, Castro-Fields was comfortable playing press corner on the outside but struggled with his consistency. He embraces physicality and could carve out a special-teams role as he sharpens his cornerback play to fit the next level.
