Browns' Damarri Mathis: Placed on injured reserve
The Browns placed Mathis (undisclosed) on injured reserve Tuesday.
It's unclear whether Mathis' current issue is related to the torn ACL that he suffered prior to the 2025 regular season, when he played for the Panthers. Regardless, now that he's on the Browns' IR, Mathis will be required to miss the entire 2026 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Cleveland.

Browns' Damarri Mathis: Signs with Browns
Cleveland signed Mathis (knee) to a contract Tuesday.
Mathis missed the entire 2025 season due to an ACL tear suffered last September, but he's now presumably back to full health. The 2022 second-round pick will now work to carve out a reserve role in the Browns' secondary.

Panthers' Damarri Mathis: Tears ACL
Head coach Dave Canales told reporters Friday that Mathis tore his ACL and will undergo surgery, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
The 26-year-old defensive back sustained a non-contact injury during Carolina's practice Wednesday that was later confirmed to be a torn ACL. Mathis, who was claimed from the Broncos in late August, posted three total tackles and one pass defended across 75 defensive snaps in 2024.

Broncos' Damarri Mathis: Will play vs. New Orleans
Mathis (ankle) is active for Thursday night's game against the Saints, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Mathis was activated from injured reserve ahead of Thursday's game, and the 2022 fourth-round pick will indeed suit up for the contest. He'll bring some much-needed depth to the Broncos' secondary due to Patrick Surtain being sidelined with a concussion.

Broncos' Damarri Mathis: Activated ahead of TNF
The Broncos have activated Mathis (ankle) from injured reserve ahead of Thursday's matchup with the Saints, Aric DiLalla of the team's official website reports.
Mathis has not officially been cleared to play in Thursday's game, but his activation from IR is a positive sign regardless. With star cornerback Patrick Surtain (concussion) sidelined, Mathis' potential season debut would be quite timely.

Broncos' Damarri Mathis: Full estimation Monday
Mathis (ankle) was listed as a full participant on Monday's practice estimation.
Mathis has yet to see the field this season after sustaining an ankle injury in late August. However, the third-year cornerback was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, and Monday's full practice estimation suggests he's nearing a return to the field. Mathis could very well be activated to Denver's active roster in time for Thursday's matchup against the Saints, as the Broncos will likely be without star corner Patrick Surtain (concussion).

Broncos' Damarri Mathis: Practice window opens
Mathis (ankle) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday.
Mathis has missed the Broncos' first five games this season after sustaining an ankle injury during the team's preseason finale, but it appears he's nearing a return to the field. Denver will now have 21 days to activate Mathis to its active roster before he reverts to IR. Expect the third-year pro to serve as one of the Broncos' top reserve cornerbacks once he's fully past his ankle issue.
