The Commanders waived McGowan on Tuesday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
McGowan signed with the Commanders in May as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech, where he caught 37 passes for 467 yards and seven touchdowns during his final collegiate campaign. McCowan caught one of six targets for 27 yards during the team's first two exhibition games but didn't suit up for the preseason finale and now finds himself among a wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline.
