Tyre Phillips: Joins Giants' practice squad
The Giants signed Phillips to their practice squad Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Phillips finished the 2023 season with the Giants after appearing in 10 games for them, and now he's back in their facilities as Week 12 of 2024 approaches. Jermaine Eluemunor and Evan Neal are currently the Giants' starting left and right tackles, respectively, and it would likely take an injury for Phillips to be elevated to the active roster.

Phillips suffered a torn quad in the Giants' Week 17 loss to the Rams last season and has been rehabbing in the Dallas area this summer. Currently a free agent, Phillips has 27 career starts under his belt over the last four seasons with the G-Men and Ravens.

Phillips underwent the surgery in early January. His next step in recovery will be to resume running, which he's expected to be able to do in four to five months. Phillips is unlikely to be ready for the start of the 2024 season, though there has been nothing definite regarding his timeline.

Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports that team officials fear that Phillips sustained a torn quadriceps during Sunday's 26-25 loss to the Rams.
Phillips was carted off the field after aggravating what was initially reported as a knee injury. Schultz notes that Phillips -- who has started all nine games for the Giants since being signed off the Eagles' practice squad Oct. 20 -- will have an MRI on Monday to confirm the injury and that surgery is a possibility.
