Jones completed 19 of 24 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 34-24 win over the Giants. He added four rushing attempts for four yards and lost a fumble.
Jones connected on all 14 of his first-half pass attempts for 143 yards, including touchdown passes of five yards to Christian McCaffrey and 11 yards to Jauan Jennings, but the quarterback lost a fumble in the final minute before halftime for the lone blemish of an otherwise spotless half. His first pass of the second half landed incomplete as Jones' accuracy diminished significantly, but the 49ers maintained a double-digit lead the entire second half to improve to 6-3, including 5-2 in games started by Jones. Brock Purdy (toe) has been inching closer to returning, so Jones' run as the starter could come to a close in Week 10 against the Rams.

49ers' Mac Jones: Sleeper QBs
Rotowire
Jones will start in Week 9 with Brock Purdy (toe) out again, and I like Jones as a low-end starter in all leagues. He just scored 22 Fantasy points in Week 8 at Houston, and this is a much better matchup. The Giants have allowed at least 22.6 Fantasy points in three games in a row, with Jalen Hurts twice and Bo Nix, and they combined for seven passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns over that span. This could be the last start for Jones, and he should go out with a solid performance against the Giants.

49ers' Mac Jones: Getting another start
Rotowire
Jones will start Sunday's game at the Giants, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Brock Purdy (toe) is listed as questionable, but he'll only be the backup if he's declared active, per 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. Active or not, Purdy seems to be making progress and could return to the starting job as soon as Week 10 against the Rams.

49ers' Mac Jones: Full practice Wednesday
Rotowire
Jones (knees) practiced in full Wednesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jones sustained a knee contusion this past Sunday at Houston, per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com. Jones then was listed with both knees to begin Week 9 prep, but neither issue impacted his practice reps Wednesday. Meanwhile, No. 1 QB Brock Purdy remained limited due to his lingering turf toe injury, which came on the heels of Shanahan telling Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com on Monday that he didn't "think it's a long shot" for Purdy to play Sunday at the Giants. Purdy likely will need to log a full practice Thursday or Friday in order to be cleared for game action, so the 49ers' next two injury reports will be of keen interest to get a sense of who between Purdy and Jones will be under center this weekend.

49ers' Mac Jones: Adds/Streamers (QB Preview)
Rotowire
Mac Jones would actually be my favorite streamer this week if Brock Purdy was ruled out. But as of Tuesday that is still up in the air. Jones bounced back nicely in a very bad matchup to become only the second QB to score at least 20 Fantasy points against the Texans. Now he faces a depleted Giants secondary that has given up 96 Fantasy points to QBs over the past three weeks. If Jones is starting for the 49ers, he's a good option for your Fantasy team.

49ers' Mac Jones: Day-to-day due to knee contusion
Rotowire
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jones suffered a bruised knee during Sunday's 26-15 loss at Houston and is "day-to-day," David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
At the same time, Shanahan relayed to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com that he doesn't "think it's a long shot" for No. 1 QB Brock Purdy (toe) to return to action this coming Sunday at the Giants. As such, the signal-caller situation in San Francisco will be watched closely as the week goes on. In Week 8, Jones fell shy of 200 yards passing for a second straight game, but he tossed two touchdowns versus one interception and rushed twice for 23 yards. Undrafted rookie Adrian Martinez is third on the depth chart for the Niners should the unthinkable happen, and both Purdy and Jones are declared unavailable for Week 9.

49ers' Mac Jones: Struggles against Texans defense
Rotowire
Jones completed 19 of 32 passes for 193 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while adding two rushes for 23 yards in the 49ers' 26-15 loss to the Texans on Sunday. He also threw a two-point conversion pass.
Jones drew a fourth consecutive start for Brock Purdy (toe), but the stage of diminishing returns may be starting to manifest. The 2021 first-round pick struggled to help the offense achieve any kind of continuity for long stretches, and the 49ers were ultimately shut out in both the first and fourth quarters. Jones connected with tight ends George Kittle (17 yards) and Jake Tonges (two yards) for his pair of touchdowns, yet his interception at the Texans' one-yard line just before the two-minute warning essentially sealed San Francisco's loss. Purdy is reportedly getting close to a return after putting in six limited practice sessions over the last two weeks, but it remains to be seen who'll be under center in a favorable Week 9 road matchup against the Giants.

49ers' Mac Jones: QBs to Sit
Rotowire
Jones will start in Week 8 at Houston with Brock Purdy (toe) still injured, but Jones is only worth a look in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues. He's combined for just 16.4 Fantasy points in his past two outings against Tampa Bay and Atlanta, and he has no touchdowns and three interceptions over that span. The Texans are also No. 1 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and Baker Mayfield in Week 2 is the lone quarterback with more than 15.6 Fantasy points against Houston, including matchups with Matthew Stafford, Trevor Lawrence and Sam Darnold. It would be a surprise if Jones had a big Fantasy outing in this matchup.

49ers' Mac Jones: Getting another start for Purdy
Rotowire
Jones will start Sunday's game at Houston after coach Kyle Shanahan ruled out Brock Purdy (toe), Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Jones gets his sixth start in the past seven contests in place of Purdy, who is still bothered by a turf toe injury. Jones has averaged 280.8 yards per game on 67.0 percent passing while tossing six touchdowns versus four interceptions. Jones will have RB Christian McCaffrey, WRs Jauan Jennings and Kendrick Bourne and TE George Kittle as his primary targets for Week 8.

49ers' Mac Jones: Expected to make another start
Rotowire
With Brock Purdy (toe) unlikely to be ready to play Sunday against the Texans, Jones is expected to make another start at quarterback, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Jones has been starting since Week 2 and appears to be ready to make a sixth consecutive start, as Purdy continues to deal with his turf toe issue. Across his five starts, Jones has completed 67 percent of his passes at 6.9 yards per attempt with six touchdowns and four interceptions. He's done enough to help manage the 49ers to four wins across those five games, but Jones carries minimal fantasy value outside of two-quarterback formats.

49ers' Mac Jones: Gritty performance in win
Rotowire
Jones (knee/oblique) completed 17 of 26 pass attempts for 152 yards and an interception while recording five rush attempts for 11 yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Falcons.
Jones was asked to play the role of game manager Sunday, and he did just that, keeping drives alive for Christian McCaffrey to feast on Atlanta's defense for 200-plus yards and two touchdowns. The veteran backup threw an interception for the second week in a row and failed to record a touchdown in as many games. Jones has been a godsend for the 5-2 49ers, but the luster has worn off from a fantasy perspective following a hot start filling in for Brock Purdy (toe). The latter resumed practicing this week, so it wouldn't be shocking to see Jones resume his backup role against the Texans next Sunday.

49ers' Mac Jones: Sleeper QBs
Rotowire
The matchup against the Falcons won't be easy. Atlanta is No. 6 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and only Baker Mayfield in Week 1 and Marcus Mariota in Week 4 scored at least 20 Fantasy points against the Falcons, who limited Josh Allen to 19 Fantasy points in Week 6. But the 49ers are No. 2 in most pass attempts in the NFL, and Jones has scored at least 26.2 Fantasy points in two of four starts for Brock Purdy (toe). Jones gets George Kittle (hamstring) back this week, and I like Jones as a low-end starter in all leagues at home.

49ers' Mac Jones: Another spot start on tap
Rotowire
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Jones (knee/oblique) will start Sunday's game against the Falcons with Brock Purdy (toe) ruled out, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Purdy got back on the practice field this week as a limited participant, but his lingering turf toe injury will sideline him for a fifth time in the last six contests. The announcement lines Jones up for his fifth start of the campaign, after completing 113 of 168 passes (67.3 percent) for 1,252 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions in his first four nods. He'll have a tough task on his hands Sunday, though, as Atlanta's pass defense is the stingiest in the NFL to date (139.4 yards allowed per game).

49ers' Mac Jones: Logs full practice Thursday
Rotowire
Jones (knee/oblique) practiced in full Thursday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Jones followed up Wednesday's limited showing due to lingering knee and oblique injuries with all on-field work one day later. The same can't be said for No. 1 QB Brock Purdy, who remained limited due to his nagging turf toe issue. Purdy has missed four of the past five games as a result of the health concern, but his ability to handle some practice reps on back-to-back days implies that he's inching toward a return to action. Coach Kyle Shanahan may settle who will be the 49ers' starting quarterback for Week 7 when he speaks to the media Friday.

49ers' Mac Jones: Limited Wednesday
Rotowire
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jones (knee/oblique) will be limited at practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Jones will be joined on the practice field by No. 1 QB Brock Purdy (toe), though the latter will be more limited than the former, according to what Shanahan told Matt Barrows of The Athletic. It's unknown if that means Jones has better odds than Purdy to continue leading the 49ers offense Week 7, but Purdy at least has put himself in a position to see his first game action since Week 4. In four starts in place of Purdy this season, Jones has completed 113 of 168 passes (67.3 percent) for 1,252 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions, rushed 16 times for 23 yards and fumbled three times (one lost).

49ers' Mac Jones: Week 7 Waiver Priority List
Rotowire
We'll see if Brock Purdy (toe) can return in Week 7 against Atlanta, but if he's out again then Jones would be worth using as a low-end starter in all leagues. He struggled in Week 6 at Tampa Bay with just 11.2 Fantasy points thanks to two interceptions, but he still passed for 347 yards. The 49ers could be getting George Kittle (hamstring) and Ricky Pearsall (knee) back for this game, which would be ideal, even if Jauan Jennings (ribs) is out. Jones has now scored at least 26.2 Fantasy points in two of four starts this season, and he would be a low-end starter in deeper leagues in Week 7 if Purdy remains out. Jones is worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

49ers' Mac Jones: Throws two picks in losing effort
Rotowire
Jones (knee/oblique) completed 27 of 39 pass attempts for 347 yards and two interceptions while rushing five times for 13 yards in Sunday's 30-19 loss to the Buccaneers.
Jones toughed out a pair of injuries and another week of limited practices in order to start for a shorthanded 49ers squad Sunday. The veteran backup was unable to earn his fourth win in as many appearances with San Francisco, but he did produce a season-high 347 passing yards for fantasy managers. The Alabama product is averaging a whopping 313.0 yards per game with a 2:1 TD:INT in place of starter Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) this season. The latter's status is currently unclear for Week 7, but Jones has certainly played well enough in Purdy's stead to warrant fantasy consideration if he remains under center against the Falcons for Sunday Night Football.

49ers' Mac Jones: Active, starting again Sunday
Rotowire
Jones (knee/oblique) is active for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
During a week in which Jones practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday through Friday due to the oblique injury that he suffered Week 5 and a lingering PCL sprain, he didn't attempt many passes until Friday, at which point the 49ers deemed him questionable for Week 6 action. With No. 1 QB Brock Purdy (toe) out yet again, Jones will earn his fourth start of the season after completing 86 of 129 passes (66.7 percent) for 905 yards, six touchdowns and one interception in his first three opportunities to lead the 49ers offense. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported overnight Saturday that Purdy has "a chance" to return next Sunday night against the Falcons, so Jones' time as San Francisco's starting QB may come to a close after this Sunday's contest.

49ers' Mac Jones: Still looking likely to play Sunday
Rotowire
Jones (oblique/knee), who is officially questionable to suit up Sunday against the Buccaneers, is expected to play and start, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Though Jones has been nursing injuries to both his knee and oblique, the expectation for most of the week has been that he'll be able to take the field Sunday. That still appears to be the case, and if he does indeed play, Jones is slated to make his fourth start of the campaign, as Brock Purdy (toe) has been ruled out. Schefter notes that Purdy has a chance to return in Week 7 against Atlanta, so Jones could slide back into a backup role following this week's contest regardless of how he performs against the Buccaneers.

49ers' Mac Jones: Expected to start
Rotowire
Jones (knee) is expected to start Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner reports.
Jones is officially listed as questionable after being a limited practice participant all week. He was already playing through a PCL injury and is now set to play through an oblique injury as well, while fellow 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) has been ruled out for at least one more game.
