Saints' Bryce Lance: Catches three passes in Week 1
Lance caught three of four targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Lions in overtime.
With Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) on injured reserve and Chris Olave in and out of the game multiple times Sunday, Lance played 62 of 90 offensive snaps against Detroit. He ran 45 routes on Tyler Slough's 63 dropbacks and looks like the clear WR3 for New Orleans while Tyson recovers from a severe hamstring strain. However, Lance is deep down the list for opportunities and touches behind Olave, Juwan Johnson, Travis Etienne and Devaughn Vele, giving him minimal fantasy appeal outside of dynasty formats.

Saints' Bryce Lance: Outplayed by Brown again
Lance caught two of four targets for 28 yards in Friday's 27-24 preseason win over the Cowboys.
Lance was drafted in the fourth round out of North Dakota State, but he has been outperformed by sixth-round pick Barion Brown throughout training camp and the preseason. Brown upstaged Lance again Friday by scoring a seven-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Both rookie Day 3 picks have a chance to contribute out of the gate, as rookie first-round pick Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) is expected to miss about two months, leaving Lance, Brown and Devaughn Vele as the top options behind Chris Olave.

Saints' Bryce Lance: Tallies two catches in preseason debut
Lance caught both of his targets for 16 yards during the Saints' 34-0 preseason loss to the Rams on Saturday.
Lance missed the Saints' preseason opener against the Jaguars due to an undisclosed injury, but he was cleared to play against Los Angeles. Several Saints starters -- including wide receivers Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele and rookie first-rounder Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) -- were idle for Saturday's exhibition contest, so Lance joined Bub Means and Kevin Austin as the starters at wide receiver. Lance didn't get off to a great start with a holding penalty late in the first quarter, but he did haul in a nice 12-yard pass from Zach Wilson on the final play of the frame. Lance worked with the Saints' first-team offense earlier in the week during joint practice with the Cowboys, and the North Dakota State product could be the team's WR3 behind Olave and Vele for the first few games of the regular season, considering Tyson is expected to miss several weeks due to his hamstring injury. The Saints will wrap up the preseason this Friday against the Cowboys in Dallas.

Saints' Bryce Lance: Sees reps with starters Tuesday
Lance (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday and worked with the first-team offense in New Orleans' joint practice with Dallas, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
With Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) out several weeks and Devaughn Vele receiving a rest day Tuesday, the rookie Lance worked opposite Chris Olave as the Saints' WR2. While Vele is the favorite to open the regular season as the second wideout, Lance has a pretty clear path to early-season playing time while Tyson is sidelined. At 6-foot-3 and 204 pounds with 4.34 speed, Lance is a size-speed prospect who produced back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons at North Dakota State before being selected in the fourth round of the 2026 Draft by New Orleans.

Saints' Bryce Lance: Sits out preseason opener
Lance (undisclosed) got "banged up" in Thursday's practice and didn't play in New Orleans' preseason opener against Jacksonville on Saturday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
According to coach Kellen Moore, Lance was available to play in an emergency situation, so it doesn't sound like he's dealing with a serious injury. The rookie wideout is slated to jockey for positioning in the Saints' WR pecking order, and he could see his role increase in importance in the scenario that fellow rookie wideout Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) needs to miss time early in the regular season.

Saints' Bryce Lance: Headed to New Orleans
The Saints selected Lance in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 136th overall.
Lance (6-foot-3, 204 pounds) boasts adequate size to complement his explosive athletic trades (4.34 40-yard dash), and he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his two seasons as a starter at North Dakota State (five years total). He showed especially well on deep routes in 2025, when he logged a career-best 21.5 yards per catch across 13 games as a fifth-year senior. To compete for more than a rotational role at the NFL level, Lance will need to significantly expand his route tree, but in New Orleans' crowded wide receiver room there may not be much pressure to develop into more than a situational playmaker. All of Devaughn Vele (shoulder), Mason Tipton (groin), Bub Means (lower leg), Kevin Austin, Trey Palmer (ankle), Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder), Ronnie Bell and Samori Toure represent competition for Lance to earn wide receiver reps behind Chris Olave (illness) and No. 8 overall pick Jordyn Tyson.
