Pressure Mounting on Josh Allen To Reach and Win a Super Bowl

Player Outlook
Coleman scored 25.2 PPR points in Week 1 last year, then averaged 6.4 PPR points per game from Weeks 2 through 18, solidifying his reputation as a disappointing Fantasy receiver. There's no reason to believe the former second-round pick will see an uptick in targets or stats, especially with veteran D.J. Moore joining the Bills and likely working in the same places Coleman worked in 2025. Until Coleman surprises us with some consistent target volume, Fantasy managers should be able to move past him.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Suffers sprained foot/toe in preseason

Coleman has been diagnosed with a sprained right foot/toe, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Coleman was a spectator at the start of Tuesday's practice, wearing a low walking boot on his right foot. The issue likely stems from Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers, when he limped off the field during the Bills' third possession. At the moment, a number of Buffalo wide receivers are tending to injuries, including DJ Moore (lower body), Coleman, rookie fourth-round pick Skyler Bell (lower body) and Tyrell Shavers (knee, active/PUP). Coleman's own health concern may impact his status for Saturday's exhibition at Cleveland.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Sporting walking boot on right foot

Coleman was spotted with a walking boot on his right foot Tuesday after suffering an injury during Saturday's preseason win over Carolina, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports. Coleman started the preseason game and caught a touchdown pass from Josh Allen on the second drive, only to then stay in with the backups and almost immediately suffer an injury. It's unclear at this point if Coleman is in serious danger of missing Week 1. He looked to be on track for the No. 3 receiver job behind DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir, but an extended absence could open the door for Joshua Palmer or fourth-round rookie Skyler Bell (lower body) to claim that job instead.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Listed as starter on unofficial depth chart

Coleman is listed as a starter on Buffalo's first depth chart of the preseason, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. The Bills list 12 starters, including three WRs, with the others unsurprisingly being DJ Moore and and Khalil Shakir. While it isn't a bad sign to be listed as a starter on the unofficial depth chart, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News believes Joshua Palmer has the upper hand on Coleman in a competition for the No. 3 receiver spot. Palmer reportedly shined Tuesday in one of the final practices before Buffalo's preseason opener Saturday against Carolina.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Has Joe Brady's support

Bills head coach Joe Brady said Tuesday that he advocated for Coleman this offseason and expects him to "be a part of our offense" in 2026, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. "I made sure when I got the job, [Coleman] knew he was going to be here and be a part of our offense," said Brady. It's safe to assume Coleman's presence in Buffalo wasn't a sticking point in negotiations when Brady was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach. Coleman turned 23 on May 17, making him younger than many rookies in the incoming class, but he frankly hasn't shown much on the field to hint at living up to his draft capital (33rd overall in 2024). Bills GM Brandon Beane said in April that he refuted trade offers and now wants to "hit the reset button" on Coleman, who notoriously had a rocky relationship with former head coach Sean McDermott. While Brady called plays for most of those games in which Coleman failed to make an impact, Brady sounds open to letting the 23-year-old compete for a top-three job at wide receiver again. If not Coleman, the Bills have fourth-round pick Skyler Bell and sixth-year pro Joshua Palmer (ankle) as the top candidates for WR snaps behind newcomer DJ Moore and slot specialist Khalil Shakir.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Garners support from front office

Bills GM Brandon Beane said Monday that the team has "hit the reset button" with Coleman and "thinks his best year is yet to come" during the 2026 season, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Beane said more than one team approached the Bills about Coleman's availability via trade, but Buffalo "shut those down," according to the general manager. "Our intention is for Keon to be here," Beane continued. Coleman was the subject of criticism following the Bills' early dismissal from the playoffs and subsequent firing of coach Sean McDermott, but it sounds like Buffalo is sticking by the soon-to-be 23-year-old wideout. The first pick of the second round in the 2024 Draft, Coleman has appeared in 26 regular-season games to date, amassing 67 catches for 960 yards and eight touchdowns. He's made 18 starts and figures to push Joshua Palmer (ankle) for a role in three-wide sets alongside Khalil Shakir and trade pickup DJ Moore this coming season.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Ends Year 2 with one catch

Coleman secured one of three targets for 10 yards in the Bills' 33-30 overtime divisional-round loss to the Broncos on Saturday. The 2024 second-round pick played over 40 percent of offensive snaps for a second playoff game in a row, handling a slightly increased role due to Joshua Palmer (ankle), Tyrell Shavers (ACL) and Gabe Davis (ACL) all having been placed on IR. Nonetheless, he was unable to capitalize on the added opportunities. After exploding for an 8-112-1 receiving line versus the Ravens in Week 1, Coleman never logged another game with over 50 receiving yards, finishing the regular season with just 38 catches for 404 yards and four touchdowns on 59 targets across 13 appearances. He was a healthy scratch on four occasions and will need to regain his team's trust this offseason to have any chance of handling a starting role in 2026.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: One snag in wild-card victory

Coleman caught his only target for 36 yards in Sunday's 27-24 wild-card victory against the Jaguars. Coleman was expected to see an uptick in workload in the wild-card round with Joshua Palmer (ankle) sidelined, but that didn't materialize. The wide receiver did make the most of his only opportunity, though, notching a 36-yard catch-and-run in the second quarter. Coleman will attempt to have a larger impact on Buffalo's performance in the AFC divisional round next weekend.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Larger role incoming?

Coleman is expected to have an expanded offensive role while Joshua Palmer (ankle) is sidelined during Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Jaguars, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. The 22-year-old wideout was a healthy scratch in four of the Bills' final eight regular-season games this year, but he's expected to take on an expanded offensive role Sunday due to Palmer being ruled out. Coleman, a 2024 second-round pick from Florida State, has caught 38 of 59 targets for 404 yards and four touchdowns across 13 appearances in 2025. Even so, Coleman is expected to play behind Khalil Shakir, Brandin Cooks and Tyrell Shavers during the wild-card round.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Inactive Sunday

Coleman is inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns. As is fellow WR Gabe Davis. As a result, Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Tyrell Shavers, Brandin Cooks and Mecole Hardman are Buffalo's available wide receivers in Week 16.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Scores in return to lineup

Coleman secured two of three targets for nine yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-7 win over the Steelers. After being a healthy scratch in Buffalo's last two contests due to disciplinary reasons, Coleman made a triumphant return to the lineup by catching the only touchdown pass for either side in Sunday's win. It was a low-volume passing day overall, with no Bills player recording more than three receptions or 33 yards. Coleman's three targets finished in a tie for fourth among his teammates, making it tough to gauge the wideout's role moving forward. Now that he is out of head coach Sean McDermott's doghouse, Coleman can at least be viewed as a deep-league option in Week 14 against the Bengals.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Expected to play Week 13

Coleman is expected to be active for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Coleman was a surprise inactive for the Bills' Week 11 win over the Buccaneers after missing a team meeting during the week, and that absence was extended into Week 12, when he remained a healthy inactive for the team's loss to the Texans. The second-year wideout is trending toward making a return Sunday, as the Bills will be without Curtis Samuel (elbow) and potentially Joshua Palmer (ankle) as well. Coleman has been held to three catches or less in seven of nine appearances thus far, and even with Elijah Moore being waived Wednesday, it's unclear what the former's snap count on offense will look like moving forward, especially with veterans Brandin Cooks and Gabe Davis now being part of the receiver room.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Inactive versus Houston

Coleman is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Texans. Coleman was also inactive for this past Sunday's win over the Buccaneers after being late to a team meeting, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. In the 2024 second-rounder's continued absence, Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Tyrell Shavers, Gabe Davis and Elijah Moore are slated to handle Buffalo's Week 12 wideout duties, with Coleman's next chance to rejoin the mix arriving Nov. 30 against the Steelers.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Expected to be inactive Thursday

Coleman is expected to be a healthy scratch Thursday night against the Texans, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN reports. Coleman was inactive for Buffalo's win over Tampa Bay in Week 11 after being late to a team meeting on the Friday prior to the contest. Assuming he's among the Bills' inactives for Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Tyrell Shavers, Gabe Davis and Elijah Moore will handle the team's WR duties versus Houston.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Inactive Sunday

Coleman is inactive for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Coleman is being made inactive Sunday because he missed a team meeting Friday. With Coleman -- who is second on the Bills with 49 targets through nine games -- a scratch Sunday, Joshua Palmer, Gabe Davis, Tyrell Shavers, Curtis Samuel and Mecole Hardman are candidates to see added opportunities along with No. 1 wideout Khalil Shakir. Meanwhile, top tight end Dalton Kincaid (hamstring) is also inactive, so Palmer will have a chance to claim a share of the targets that would normally go to Coleman and/or Kincaid in his first appearance since Week 6.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Expected to be healthy scratch

The Bills are expected to make Coleman a healthy inactive for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz. Buffalo's decision to elevate Gabe Davis from the practice squad and sign Mecole Hardman to the 53-man roster Saturday were indicators that the team was planning on shaking up its receiver personnel for Week 11, and Coleman looks like he'll be one of the odd men out. According to Schultz, Coleman's impending demotion isn't based on his performance, though the second-year wideout's underwhelming production in recent weeks -- as well as the return of Joshua Palmer from a three-game absence -- probably didn't help his case for retaining a regular role on offense. Since a standout Week 1 outing in which he recorded an 8-112-1 receiving line on 11 targets in a win over the Ravens, Coleman has averaged 3.0 catches, 27.3 yards and 4.8 targets over the Bills' subsequent eight contests.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Gets into end zone Sunday

Coleman secured three of eight targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' 30-13 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. Coleman was far from efficient, but he did finish second in receiving yards and targets behind Khalil Shakir and recorded his third touchdown of the season on a 35-yard catch early in the fourth quarter. Coleman's receiving yardage tally was his highest since Week 1, but his production remains modest overall, and he's posted three catches or less in seven of the last eight games. Coleman next takes aim at the Buccaneers secondary in a Week 11 home matchup.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Underwhelms again in Week 9

Coleman caught both of his targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 28-21 win over the Chiefs. The second-year wideout from Florida State has struggled over his last three games, catching eight of 12 targets for just 58 yards despite leading the Bills' wide-receiver room in snaps played (138 snaps) during that span. Even so, Coleman has had a solid season overall, recording 284 yards and two touchdowns on 29 catches. He's likely to remain the Bills' No. 1 wideout and will look to get back on track heading into the Week 10 matchup against the Dolphins.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Quiet performance coming out of bye

Coleman secured three of four targets for 30 yards in the Bills' 40-9 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Coleman finished a distant second to Khalil Shakir in receptions, receiving yards and targets, turning in his sixth straight sub-50-yard effort following his 112-yard tally against the Ravens in Week 1. The second-year wideout is averaging just 9.9 yards per reception and has taken just three of his 27 catches for 20-plus yards, a sharp contrast to the outstanding 19.2 yards per grab he averaged as a rookie in the 2024 regular season. Coleman will aim to make a bigger impact in a Week 9 home showdown against the Chiefs next Sunday afternoon.

  • Bills' Keon Coleman: WRs to Sit

I wouldn't have high expectations for Coleman coming out of Buffalo's bye in Week 7 since he has a tough matchup at Carolina in Week 8. The Panthers are No. 3 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers, and Jaycee Horn will make things tough on Coleman in this matchup. He did score a touchdown in Week 5 against New England, but Coleman has scored 7.5 PPR points or less in four of his past five games heading into this matchup on the road.
... See More ... See Less
  • Bills' Keon Coleman: Benched in disciplinary move

Bills head coach Sean McDermott revealed Monday that Coleman didn't play in the first series of Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Patriots due to a disciplinary matter, Alec White of the team's official site reports. As a result of missing the first possession, Coleman played just 42 of the Bills' 68 offensive snaps on the night, with his 62 percent share representing his lowest mark since he logged 51 percent of snaps in Week 2, when Buffalo rested several key players late in a 20-point win over the Jets. McDermott didn't go into much detail about Coleman's benching beyond noting that the staff is "looking for more consistency" from the second-year wideout. For his part, Coleman seemed to respond well to the disciplinary decision, as he finished the Week 5 loss with four catches for 23 yards on seven targets, including a two-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Look for Coleman's playing time to tick back up a bit in Week 6 against the Falcons, though quarterback Josh Allen's tendency to spread the ball around to Buffalo's pass catchers renders Coleman a volatile option in weekly fantasy lineups.
