Top Troy Franklin News

  • Broncos' Troy Franklin: One catch in preseason opener

Franklin caught one of two targets for 23 yards in Friday's 27-7 preseason win over the Falcons.

Franklin's lone reception came on the final play of the first quarter on a pass from Jarrett Stidham, who started at QB while Bo Nix rested. Franklin is competing for the third spot on the wide-receiver depth chart with 2025 third-round pick Pat Bryant and 2023 second-round pick Marvin Mims (undisclosed). Jaylen Waddle (leg) and Courtland Sutton are locked in as starters. Franklin had 709 receiving yards in the 2025 regular season, which was second most on the team behind Sutton's 1,017.

  • Broncos' Troy Franklin: On field at minicamp

Franklin (hamstring) is participating in practice Wednesday at mandatory minicamp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Franklin missed Denver's loss to New England in the AFC Championship Game due to a hamstring injury, but he now appears back to full health. The 2024 fourth-round pick totaled just 263 receiving yards as a rookie but took a sizeable step forward in 2025, with a 65-709-6 receiving line (on 104 targets) across 17 regular-season appearances. The Broncos traded for Jaylen Waddle earlier in the offseason, providing another alpha receiver atop the depth chart alongside Courtland Sutton, so Franklin faces increased competition for targets entering Year 3. If he can take a step forward in his development and build increased chemistry with QB Bo Nix (ankle), though, Franklin could well be the favorite for the No. 3 receiver gig over Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims.

  • Broncos' Troy Franklin: Takes leap in sophomore campaign

Franklin (hamstring) ended the 2025 regular season with 65 receptions (on 104 targets) for 709 yards and six touchdowns, adding five rushes for 12 yards across 17 games. He also lost one fumble.

Franklin became a much bigger part of the Broncos offense in his second season, and his continued development and existing chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix led to more usage in Denver's passing attack in 2025. Before suffering a hamstring injury in the divisional-round win over the Bills this postseason, the 23-year-old wideout was one of Nix's most reliable targets behind No. 1 receiver Courtland Sutton. Of all Broncos pass catchers, Franklin finished second behind Sutton in catches, targets, receiving yards and touchdowns. The Oregon product finished third on the team with 282 yards after contact, behind running back RJ Harvey (360) and tight end Evan Engram (302). Under contract through the 2027 season, Franklin should remain a key piece of an improving Broncos offense for the foreseeable future.

  • Broncos' Troy Franklin: Not suiting up for AFC Championship

Franklin (hamstring) is inactive Sunday for the Broncos' AFC Championship Game against the Patriots, Aric DiLalla of Denver's official site reports.

Franklin was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was deemed questionable heading into Sunday, but the wideout will ultimately be forced to the sideline for the first time all season while he recovers from the hamstring injury he sustained in the divisional-round win over the Bills. With Franklin sitting out, the Broncos should have more reps open at receiver for Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims and Lil'Jordan Humphrey behind No. 1 wideout Courtland Sutton.
