Vikings' Eric Johnson: Signs deal with Minnesota
The Vikings signed Johnson on Wednesday, Lindsey Young of the team's official site reports.
The details of the contract are unknown at this point, but Johnson will be linking up with his third team in as many years. He played a depth role on the interior of Indianapolis' defensive line in 2025, logging 131 defensive snaps over 12 games. He joins rookie first-rounder Caleb Banks (foot) and rookie third-rounder Domonique Orange as recent acquisitions meant to beef up Minnesota's defensive front.

Colts' Eric Johnson: Limited role in season opener
Johnson had one total tackle in Sunday's win over Miami. He played on seven of the defense's 47 snaps.
Johnson enters the season with a limited reserve role on the defensive line. The 2022 fifth-round draft pick returned to the Colts after playing for New England in 2024.

Eric Johnson: Let go by Patriots
The Patriots released Johnson on Wednesday.
Johnson joined the Patriots prior to the start of last season and ended up recording 17 tackles (two solo) across 11 games played. The 26-year-old can contribute on both defense and special teams and will now look for a new opportunity elsewhere.

Patriots' Eric Johnson: Sees more snaps late in 2024
Johnson played in 11 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with 17 tackles (two solo).
Johnson signed with the Patriots in late August after failing to make the Colts' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. The 2022 fifth-round pick mostly served in a rotational role at defensive end behind Daniel Ekuale, Keion White and Christian Barmore (illness). However, Johnson did see more defensive snaps over the final four games of the regular season, and over that span he accumulated 11 tackles (one solo). Johnson has one more year left on his contract with the Patriots and will look to earn a bigger role with New England's first-team defense for the 2025 campaign.

Colts' Eric Johnson: Manages full practice Wednesday
Johnson (ankle) was a full participant at practice Wednesday.
After sitting out of Sunday's loss versus New Orleans, Johnson is trending toward suiting up in Week 9. Once he's healthy enough to play again, he figures to step back into a rotational role on Indianapolis' defensive line.

Colts' Eric Johnson: No go for Week 8
Johnson (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's matchup with the Saints.
Johnson was able to work up to being a full participant at practice this week, but the ankle injury he suffered in Week 7 against Cleveland will now sideline him for at least one contest. In his absence, Adetomiwa Adebawore will be among those who see an increase in workload on the defensive line.

Colts' Eric Johnson: Questionable Sunday
Johnson (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints.
Johnson was seen wearing a walking boot and using crutches after the Colts' Week 7 loss to the Browns, but he seems to be trending in the right direction to play this Sunday. The 25-year-old defensive lineman out of Missouri State was able to participate in full during Friday's practice after recording consecutive DNPs on Wednesday and Thursday. If Johnson is unable to go this Sunday, Adetomiwa Adebawore is expected to see an increased workload as a rotational lineman on the Colts' defense.

Colts' Eric Johnson: Injures ankle
Johnson (ankle) was seen wearing a walking boot and using crutches following Sunday's game against the Browns, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Johnson saw his most action of the season before suffering the injury. He logged 31 plays (43 percent) to go along with seven (23 percent) on special teams. It remains to be seen what his recovery timeline looks like or if he will be forced to miss any games. Adetomiwa Adebawore would be in line for increased snaps as a depth option on the Colts' interior defensive line if Johnson is indeed sidelined.

Colts' Eric Johnson: Part of DT rotation
Johnson had two tackles while playing 18 snaps on defense in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.
Johnson will be a reserve but part of the rotation on the interior defensive line for the Colts. He had three tackles in 14 games last year in limited playing time, so his role on the defense is increasing.
