  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Estimated as full practice Monday

Burrow (toe) was listed as a full participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports. All signs continue to point to Burrow returning to the lineup Thursday night against the Ravens. Coach Zac Taylor said earlier in the day Monday that he anticipates Burrow being under center against Baltimore, and Burrow himself posted on social media, indicating he's playing Week 13. It will be Burrow's first action since Week 2, when he suffered a turf toe injury that required surgery.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Not playing Sunday

Burrow (toe) won't be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots and has been downgraded from questionable to out for the contest, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Joe Flacco will start against New England as a result. After undergoing surgery Sept. 21 to address a Grade 3 turf toe injury, Burrow was expected to face a three-month recovery, but he's now turned in two straight weeks of practice since being designated for return from IR on Nov. 10. Assuming Burrow continues to make good progress during the Bengals' practice sessions during the upcoming week, he should be ready to return to the lineup for a Thanksgiving Day game in Baltimore on Nov. 27.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Week 12 status TBD

Burrow (toe) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Coach Zac Taylor noted that at this stage the Bengals have yet to determine their Week 12 starter at QB. In any case, in order for Burrow to have a chance to face New England on Sunday, he would have to be activated from IR by Saturday afternoon. If Burrow isn't ready to return to the lineup, however, Joe Flacco (right shoulder) would be in line to get the nod versus the Patriots, assuming he's available after being limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Status up in air for Week 12

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was unwilling to make a firm commitment Thursday when asked whether Burrow (toe) will play Sunday versus the Patriots, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. "I'm not there yet," Taylor said. Burrow was listed as a full participant at practice Wednesday and took part in 11-on-11 drills. Rapoport relays that Burrow's activity level Thursday will be crucial in determining his availability for Sunday. If Burrow is able to log two straight full sessions without any soreness or setbacks, it will be a strong sign that the star quarterback's recovery from Sept. 19 surgery to address a Grade 3 sprain of the big toe on his left foot has gone smoothly enough for him to return to game action. Cincinnati's coaching staff has explicitly refrained from ruling Burrow out for Sunday, but it sounds as though more information on his chances of returning may not arrive until after the team's final practice of the week Friday.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Progressing to 11-on-11 next week

Burrow (toe) will advance to taking part in 11-on-11 practices in Week 12 with the aim of eventually returning to action for the Bengals' Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Ravens on Nov. 27, Jay Glazer reported on "Fox NFL Sunday." The Bengals had extra reps available for Burrow upon his return to practice in Week 11, as incumbent starter Joe Flacco once again had his practice participation managed while he continues to play through a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. Though Burrow is aiming to return to action Week 13, his availability for that Thanksgiving game could hinge on whether the Bengals have any playoff life at that point in the schedule. The 3-6 Bengals are playing in Pittsburgh against the division-leading Steelers on Sunday, then host the Patriots in Week 12.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Practicing Wednesday

Burrow (toe) is participating in the early portion of Wednesday's unpadded practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Burrow threw passes in sweatpants and a helmet two days after the Bengals designated him for a return from injured reserve. The team said he'll practice in a limited capacity, with Burrow noting that he'd like to return for a Thanksgiving Day game at Baltimore on Nov. 27.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: May be eyeing Thanksgiving return

Burrow (toe) won't play Sunday against the Steelers after the Bengals designated him for return from injured reserve Monday, but the quarterback acknowledged that he's hopeful to begin available for Cincinnati's Thanksgiving Day game against the Ravens on Nov. 27, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. "We'll see how these next couple weeks go," Burrow said, when asked about a potential return date. "There's a lot that goes into it. There's a lot of variables that you have to consider." One of those variables will be the Bengals' record as he works his way back from surgery to address a Grade 3 sprain of the big toe on his left foot, a procedure he underwent Sept. 19. In any case, it looks like veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco -- who is managing a shoulder issue of his own -- will draw at least two more starts for the 3-6 Bengals. In his return to practice Monday in a limited capacity, Burrow didn't participate in any 11-on-11 team drills, but he threw some passes to receivers while not facing any defenders.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Undergoes toe procedure Friday

Coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Burrow underwent toe surgery Friday, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Per Baby, Taylor noted that the procedure to address the QB's Grade 3 turf toe injury went well, but at this stage the Bengals don't have a timeline for Burrow's return. Previous reports have suggested that Burrow's recovery period is expected to be in the three-month range, an estimate that leaves the door open for a possible late-season return for Cincinnati's franchise signal-caller. In Burrow's absence, Jake Browning will fill in as Cincinnati's starting QB, with Brett Rypien set to serve as his backup and Mike White and Sean Clifford currently on the team's practice squad.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Could return late in season

Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday that he hasn't shut the door on Burrow (toe) returning this season, ESPN.com's Ben Baby reports. Multiple reports have suggested a recovery timeline of around three months once Burrow undergoes surgery to address his toe injury. If accurate, that would make him unlikely to play until the very end of the regular season, if at all. Taylor, however, said he's ruling Burrow out only for the next four weeks -- the required minimum for the QB's stint on injured reserve. Jake Browning will take over as Cincinnati's starting QB in the meantime.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Set for surgery

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Monday that Burrow (toe) will require surgery, though he declined to provide details on an expected recovery timeline for the star quarterback, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic and Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Burrow reportedly suffered a turf toe injury during Sunday's win over the Jaguars and is facing a minimum recovery timetable of three months if he undergoes surgery, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, which could allow him to return in mid-December. The team hasn't yet confirmed either the severity of Burrow's injury or the possibility of him potentially returning this season, according to Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News. Jake Browning will take over under center as long as Burrow is sidelined, priming him to start on the road against Minnesota on Sunday, and the Bengals seem like strong candidates to pursue additional depth at the quarterback position.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Needs toe surgery, per report

Burrow will reportedly need toe surgery, which would sideline him for a minimum of three months, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Confirmation is still pending from the Bengals, but it looks like Burrow will miss extended time, which sets the stage for Jake Browning to handle the team's QB duties into December. Brett Rypien is currently on Cincinnati's practice squad, but the team could look elsewhere for signal-caller depth to back up Browning, per Schefter.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Seen with walking boot after game

Burrow, who injured his toe during Sunday's 31-27 win over the Jaguars, was seen afterward with a walking boot on his left foot and using crutches as he exited the Bengals' locker room, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. While coach Zac Taylor told Baby that he didn't have an immediate update on Burrow, given the quarterback was unable to return after his second-quarter exit and the description of how he was getting around after the game, Burrow's Week 3 status is cloudy. If Burrow ends up missing next Sunday's game against the Vikings, or time beyond that, Jake Browning -- who threw for 241 yards with two TDs and three picks versus the Jaguars -- would be in line to start in his place.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Won't return to Sunday's game

Burrow (toe) won't return to Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Per Ben Baby of ESPN.com, Burrow sustained his toe injury when he was sacked with 8:36 left in the second quarter of Sunday's contest. The quarterback, who walked off the field with the assistance of trainers, subsequently underwent an MRI, per Joe Danneman of FOX19 before being ruled out. Burrow's status now will need to be closely monitored ahead of next weekend's tilt against the Vikings, with Jake Browning next in line for the Bengals' QB snaps, and Brett Rypien currently a member of the team's practice squad.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Injures toe Sunday

Burrow was forced out of Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a left toe injury. Following Burrow's exit from the contest, Jake Browning took over at QB for the Bengals. The Bengals subsequently announced that Burrow's return to the game is questionable.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Exits Sunday's game

Burrow headed to the locker room during Sunday's game against the Jaguars after sustaining an unspecified injury, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Prior to his exit from the contest, Burrow -- who walked off the field with the assistance of trainers, per Baby -- completed seven of his 13 pass attempts for 76 yards and a TD. In Burrow's absence, Jake Browning is in at QB for the Bengals.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Only 113 yards against Browns

Burrow completed 14 of 23 passes for 113 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions and rushed twice for three yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Browns. Burrow and the Bengals had the ball for only 24:11 and ran just 49 offensive plays. On top of the limited volume, Burrow managed only 5.0 yards per attempt, with his longest completion going for just 20 yards. He did manage to throw a one-yard touchdown to Noah Fant in an otherwise disappointing performance. Burrow should be in for a resurgent showing in Week 2 against Jacksonville.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Sitting out preseason finale

Burrow and other starters aren't scheduled to play in Saturday's preseason game against Indianapolis, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Burrow played in the first two preseason game, leading Cincinnati's offense to four touchdowns (including three TD passes) on five drives. He'll play at Cleveland in Week 1, mostly surrounded by the same supporting cast as last season, plus TE Noah Fant and two new guards (Dylan Fairchild, Lucas Patrick) that are competing for starting jobs. The Bengals appear shootout-prone again, with minimal offseason upgrades on defense and star DE Trey Hendrickson (contract) missing all of training camp.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Leads two TD drives

Burrow completed nine of 14 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 31-17 preseason win over Washington, leading the Bengals to 14 points on three drives. Burrow curiously continued playing (and took a couple of extra hits) after Ja'Marr Chase, Chase Brown and other starters had been removed. The Bengals have scored touchdowns on four of Burrow's five drives this preseason, looking ready for a Week 1 AFC North clash at Cleveland.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: In line for 2-3 drives again

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Saturday he plans for Burrow and the starters to play a similar amount of snaps during Monday's preseason game against the Commanders as they did during last week's exhibition opener against Philadelphia, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports. Burrow and company played two drives during Cincinnati's preseason opener against the Eagles, both of which the star quarterback punched in, completing nine of 10 pass attempts for 123 yards and two touchdowns. He'll get another chance to log exhibition reps alongside star wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on Monday, though with Mike Gesicki (hamstring) still not ready to go, per Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer, recent signee Noah Fant will be in line to start at tight end in his preseason debut. Taylor appears to be following through on his stated intention to allot the Bengals' starters more preseason snaps than ever before, so Burrow could see increased action during the team's preseason finale on Saturday, Aug. 23 against Indianapolis.

  • Bengals' Joe Burrow: Enjoying healthy offseason

Burrow said "I feel great" at practice Wednesday after playing with a ligament injury in his right wrist throughout the 2024 campaign, adding that "this is the best I've felt in the offseason," Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports. This time last offseason, Burrow was recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist and working to be cleared for full contact. That wrist most noticeably hampered him early in 2024, but even by Cincinnati's regular-season finale Burrow was still listed on the injury report due to both wrist and knee issues. "Just like with any ligament injury, it's going to take a while to come back," Burrow said, but he acknowledged that "it's better this time of the year than it was last time at the same time." Despite battling those lingering injuries, Burrow managed a resurgent 2024 season to the tune of a 71 percent completion rate (460 of 652 attempts), 4,918 passing yards and a 43:9 TD:INT -- career-high marks across the board. In addition to his physical wellness, Burrow will have the benefit of an offseason without any of his major playmakers on offense holding out. With all of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and TE Mike Gesicki having been inked to multi-year extensions, the Bengals offense boasts an amount of long-term stability it lacked this time last year.
