Player Outlook
Diggs signed with the Patriots this offseason, and he should be the No. 1 receiver in New England as long as he's 100 percent healthy coming off last year's torn ACL in Houston. Diggs is worth drafting with a mid-round pick in all leagues as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver, and he could emerge as a must-start option as the season goes on. Last year with the Texans, Diggs was off to a great start when he averaged 15.2 PPR points per game in eight outings. But he suffered the season-ending knee injury in Week 8, and he opted to sign with the Patriots this year instead of returning to the Texans. In New England, Diggs should be the top target for second-year quarterback Drake Maye, but Diggs will face competition from Kyle Williams, DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne and Ja'Lynn Polk. None of those guys have Diggs' resume or ability to be an elite Fantasy option -- at least for now -- but we have to make sure Diggs is ready for Week 1. He was practicing without a knee brace in May, so he appears on the right track for training camp. He'll be 32 in November, and his best days are behind him. But if he's healthy and given his expected role with the Patriots, Diggs should be a great value pick in most leagues this year.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Doesn't see preseason action

Diggs (knee) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants. Diggs, who continues to bounce back from a torn ACL that he suffered last October, has been a regular practice participant since avoiding the active/PUP list to begin training camp, but the veteran wideout didn't see any action in either of the Patriots' three exhibition contests this month. While the signs continue to point toward Diggs being able to make a mark early on this season, until or unless the team confirms his Week 1 availability, his status will be worth monitoring ahead of New England's Sept. 7 opener against the Raiders.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Ahead of schedule in recovery

Patriots EVP of player personnel Eliot Wolf said Monday that Diggs (knee) is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a torn ACL, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports. Diggs has been a consistent participant in practice throughout training camp, but the Patriots haven't allowed him to suit up for either of the team's first two preseason games. However, everything out of New England this summer has been positive regarding Diggs' recovery from the knee injury he sustained in Week 8 last season. He avoided the active/PUP list to begin camp, and there's been no indication thus far that Diggs won't be available for Week 1 against the Raiders in a little less than three weeks.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Not available Saturday

Diggs (knee) wasn't in uniform for Saturday's preseason contest against the Vikings, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports. Diggs also sat out the Patriots' preseason opener against the Commanders, which means that Aug. 21 against the Giants will be the wideout's last chance to log game reps ahead of the regular season. Diggs, who is bouncing back from a torn ACL that he suffered last October, avoided the PUP list to begin training camp and has "been out here almost every day," coach Mike Vrabel noted Thursday. However, unless Diggs sees action versus New York next week, or the Patriots elect to confirm his availability for the team's opener, Diggs' status will remain worth monitoring.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: DNP was coach's decision

On Monday, coach Mike Vrabel didn't offer any specifics on why Diggs (knee) sat out Friday's preseason opener against the Commanders, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports. In a game in which the Patriots played the bulk of their healthy starters, Diggs was present on the sideline but didn't suit up during warmups or on the bench. When asked if Diggs' inactivity Friday was health-related, Vrabel limited his response to "coach's decision." The veteran wideout, who is bouncing back from a torn ACL that he suffered last October, has been a full practice participant for most of the summer, though he did miss the first half of Wednesday's joint practice with Washington for unspecified reasons. On the topic of Diggs' recovery, wide receivers coach Todd Downing noted Monday, "I think where he's at in his process right now is where we want him to be," while adding, "I think he'll stay on the trajectory we expect him to be on." Though the signs continue to point toward Diggs being able to contribute early on this season, until he takes game reps, or the Patriots otherwise confirm his Week 1 status, nothing can be taken for granted.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Not in line to play Friday

Diggs (knee) wasn't spotted in uniform during warmups ahead of Friday's preseason opener against the Commanders, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald and Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site report. The same applies to fellow WR Kendrick Bourne, who is managing a lower leg injury. While Diggs has reportedly looked sharp in training camp practices, he is bouncing back from an ACL tear he suffered Week 8 of last season, so it's not surprising that the Patriots are erring on the side of caution here. The veteran wideout's next chance to see game action will arrive Aug. 16 against the Vikings.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Having impressive camp

Through the Patriots' first eight practices in training camp, Evan Lazar of the team's official site notes that Diggs (knee) "is a cut above at the receiver position due to his separation quickness, efficient movements and ability to win at the catch point with magnet hands." Diggs is bouncing back from an ACL tear he suffered Week 8 of last season, but with no reported limitations in training camp and plenty of positive reviews on his on-field performance, the arrow is pointing up with regard to his chances of making an impact out of the gate this season. It remains to be seen what the team's plans are for the wideout in terms of his participation (or lack thereof) during the Patriots' upcoming preseason slate, but if Diggs is cleared for game action in that span, any lingering concerns that fantasy observers might still have at this point about the soundness of his knee should be erased.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Training camp practice goes well

Coach Mike Vrabel reported no physical restrictions for Diggs (knee) during Wednesday's opening training camp practice, Paul Perillo of the Patriots' official site reports. In reference to the fact that Diggs is bouncing back from an ACL tear he suffered Week 8 of last season, Vrabel noted, "I know that everybody heals differently, especially from that type of injury. But I would say that I think it's just a testament to how hard he worked," while adding that the wideout's progress will be monitored throughout training camp. Considering the timing and nature of his injury, Diggs' practice reps figure to be managed this summer, but the fact that he appears to be working without limitations at this stage bodes well for his chances of making an impact in the Patriots offense out of the gate this season.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Looks good on Day 1 of camp

Diggs (knee) had the first catch of training camp from QB Drake Maye on Wednesday, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports. It remains to be seen if Diggs will have limitations once the Patriots ramp up the intensity of practices and do contact work. For now, he seems to be ahead of the typical timeline for his injury, avoiding the PUP list at the start of training camp less than nine months after suffering an ACL tear. Diggs' participation in the first camp practice puts him on track to play Week 1 for his new team.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Cleared for practice

Diggs (knee) is cleared to practice Wednesday for the start of training camp, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports. Coming back from an ACL tear suffered in Week 8 of last season, Diggs wasn't added to New England's PUP list ahead of camp. He was a limited participant in spring practices and may also have some limitations for the start of camp, but it's still a good sign that the team thinks he's ready to practice so soon. Diggs signed a three-year, $69 million contract in March, with just $16.6 million guaranteed at signing and minimal commitment beyond 2025.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Attends voluntary practice

Diggs (ACL) is present for voluntary OTAs on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Diggs' attendance at voluntary OTAs has been hit-or-miss, and he was notably absent last Wednesday when head coach Mike Vrabel was made to address a controversial video of the veteran wide receiver posted to social media, per Mike Reiss of ESPN. Vrabel said he had spoken with Diggs and stressed a desire for the 31-year-old, who inked a three-year, $69 million deal in March to position himself as the No. 1 wide receiver for second-year quarterback Drake Maye, "to make great decisions on and off the field." Diggs is again practicing without a brace on his surgically repaired right knee Monday, per Reiss, a sign that his recovery from a torn ACL suffered on Oct. 27 is continuing on good track.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Practicing without knee brace

Diggs (ACL) participated in on-field work in uniform and without a brace on his right knee at Day 3 of OTAs on Thursday, Taylor Kyles of CLNSMedia.com reports. The Patriots' photo release of OTAs reveals Diggs looking healthy and without any apparent hindrances related to his right knee, in which he suffered a torn right ACL on Oct. 27. While the 31-year-old wideout likely still has some hurdles to overcome in his rehab before being cleared for contact, his ability to get in some on-field work at voluntary OTAs lends further optimism to the notion he'll be a full-go for Week 1. Since signing Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal in free agency, New England added a speedy vertical threat to the wide receiver room in the form of third-round pick Kyle Williams, plus a capable pass catcher in the backfield in second-rounder TreVeyon Henderson. Those additions don't represent huge threats to Diggs' position as the clear top target for second-year quarterback Drake Maye, health permitting, but Henderson and Williams are explosive options that this offense had otherwise been lacking in that regard with incumbent wideouts DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, Mack Hollins, Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder) and Javon Baker.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Could be ready for Week 1

Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site relays via Adam Schefter of ESPN that there's reportedly optimism Diggs, who is bouncing back from a torn right ACL in his right knee that he suffered Oct. 27, could be ready for Week 1 of the coming season. Given the timing of his injury, Diggs being available for the Patriots' regular-season opener is far from a lock, but Mike Reiss of ESPN recently noted that league sources described the wideout as ahead of schedule in his recovery and already running at full speed while in the process of gaining increased comfort in terms of cutting and changing direction. In any case, added context with regard to Diggs' progress will arrive once he retakes the field in the coming months, and once he's deemed fit for game action, the 31-year-old will be counted on to establish himself as a high-volume target for second-year QB Drake Maye. It's possible that the Patriots aren't done adding to their WR corps, but for now DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, Mack Hollins, Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker are on hand to compete for slotting behind Diggs, who New England signed to a reported three-year, $69 million deal (with $26 million guaranteed) on Tuesday.

  • Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Headed to New England

Diggs (knee) and the Patriots agreed to a three-year, $69 million contract Tuesday that includes $26 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The wide receiver caught 47 of 64 targets for 496 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding eight yards and a score on the ground, over eight regular-season games with Houston in 2024 before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 8 against the Colts. Once he moves past the injury, Diggs will have a clear path to heavy target volume as the top option for Drake Maye in the Patriots' passing game.

  • Stefon Diggs: Visiting New England

Diggs (knee) is visiting with the Patriots, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports. The free-agent wideout is unlikely to re-sign with the Texans in light of their trade for Christian Kirk, but New England looks like a similarly good option for fantasy production, offering budding franchise quarterback Drake Maye in combination with one of the weakest WR rooms in the league. It isn't clear Diggs would be able to help at the outset of the season, considering he's 31 years old and rehabbing the ACL tear he suffered in late October. He presumably had surgery at some point in November, giving him about a 10-month gap between the ACL repair and Week 1 of 2025. It's been done before, but typically by players in their 20s, not 31-year-olds that had already shown major signs of decline pre-injury.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: May move on to greener pastures

Texans GM Nick Caserio suggested he's open to re-signing Diggs (knee), but Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle thinks it's unlikely to happen unless the wideout accepts less money than he could get from other teams. Be it in Houston or elsewhere, there's no question Diggs will have to settle for less than he's accustomed to earning, as he's 31 years old and suffered an ACL tear in late October. He's set to become a free agent while still rehabbing the knee injury, with no assurance of being ready for Week 1 of 2025. The Texans figure to be in the market for high-end WR talent even if they ultimately re-sign Diggs, having lost Tank Dell to a multi-ligament knee tear in late December. Although he's six years younger than Diggs, there's not much reason for optimism about Dell being a significant contributor in 2025. The Texans do at least have Nico Collins, who emerged as one of the league's bonafide No. 1 receivers the past two seasons.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Goes on IR, done for season

The Texans placed Diggs (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday. Houston quickly moved Diggs off the 53-man roster after an MRI confirmed that the standout receiver had suffered a torn ACL in his right knee late in the third quarter of Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts. The Texans will look to get by with Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods and John Metchie at wide receiver in their Week 9 matchup with the Jets on Thursday, but Nico Collins (hamstring) could come off IR in Week 10 and offset the loss of Diggs. The soon-to-be 31-year-old Diggs will head into free agency this offseason rehabbing from a major injury after producing a 47-496-3 line on 64 targets over his eight games with Houston.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Estimated as DNP Monday

Diggs (knee) was listed as a non-participant in Monday's estimated practice, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Coach DeMeco Ryans has yet to give any updates on his star wideout after Diggs went down with a non-contact knee injury in Sunday's eventual win over the Colts. The Texans now have a quick Week 9 turnaround with a Thursday night game against the Jets up next. Nico Collins (IR, hamstring) isn't eligible to return until Week 10, so the Texans could be down to Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, John Metchie and Robert Woods at wide receiver versus New York.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Suffers non-contact knee injury

Diggs suffered a non-contact right knee injury in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts, and head coach DeMeco Ryans said after the game that the wide receiver is still being evaluated and will undergo an MRI, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports. Diggs' knee injury could have a wide range of recovery timelines, but the non-contact nature of the injury points to the possibility of the wideout having sustained a torn ACL, which would be season-ending. An update on Diggs' status should surface in the coming days as additional tests are performed on the injury.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Injures knee Sunday

Diggs was forced out of Sunday's game against the Colts with a knee injury. Per DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com, Diggs walked off on his own power before heading to the locker room, but this is a situation to monitor nonetheless. In Diggs' absence, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods and John Metchie are left to handle Houston's WR duties versus Indianapolis.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Modest output as Stroud struggles

Diggs caught five of seven targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Packers. Diggs had just three receiving yards in the first half and was only marginally better in the second half as C.J. Stroud threw for only 86 yards in the game. The veteran wide receiver's modest contributions included a two-yard catch on third-and-1 to extend a fourth-quarter drive that culminated in Ka'imi Fairbairn's go-ahead 35-yard field goal with 1:44 remaining, but the Packers responded with a game-winning Brandon McManus field goal as time expired to drop the Texans to 5-2. Houston's passing game has a nice opportunity to bounce back at home in Week 8 against a leaky Colts defense that Diggs burned for two touchdowns back in Week 1.
