  • Chris Hogan: Placed on reserve/retired list

The Saints placed Hogan on the reserve/retired list Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Hogan only recorded four catches for 41 yards and one touchdown through the first five games of the season. After five straight years -- split between Buffalo and New England -- registering over 400 yards receiving, the 33-year-old wideout has only recorded a total of 226 receiving yards over the past three seasons. Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Ty Montgomery will likely see increased snaps with Hogan seemingly ready to move on from the NFL after previously flirting with retirement earlier this offseason.

  • Saints' Chris Hogan: Blanked by Washington

Hogan was targeted once but did not catch a pass during Sunday's 33-22 win over Washington.

Hogan logged his fewest offensive snaps (eight) of the season with Kenny Stills becoming a larger part of the offense, but his snap count could bounce back after the Saints' Week 6 bye if Michael Thomas (ankle) and Tre'Quan Smith (hamstring) aren't ready to return and Deonte Harris (hamstring) needs to miss time as well.

  • Saints' Chris Hogan: Bottled up by Patriots

Hogan was targeted once but did not record a catch during Sunday's 28-13 win over New England.

Hogan finished fourth in snaps behind Marquez Callaway, Kenny Stills and Deonte Harris. While Hogan should remain a part of the rotation even with Stills quickly moving up the depth chart, he probably won't ever see enough playing to be anything more than a low-ceiling, touchdown-dependent fantasy option even before Michael Thomas (ankle) and Tre'Quan Smith (hamstring) are back in the mix.

  • Saints' Chris Hogan: Three targets against Saints

Hogan secured one of three targets for 16 yards during Sunday's 26-7 loss to Carolina.

Hogan drew the start in this one opposite Ty Montgomery, but the 30-year-old ultimately finished fourth in offensive snaps among Saints receivers behind Marquez Callaway, Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Deonte Harris, plus tight ends Adam Trautman and Juwan Johnson. While Hogan should remain in the rotation at receiver all season, it seems unlikely that he'll manage fantasy relevance at any point, especially once Tre'Quan Smith (hamstring) and Michael Thomas (ankle) return to the fold.

  • Saints' Chris Hogan: Catches touchdown

Hogan caught his only target for a 10-yard touchdown during Sunday's 38-3 win over Green Bay.

Hogan found an opening in the end zone in the third quarter, but he otherwise didn't make much noise. However, no other Saints wide receiver saw more than two targets in a game where Jameis Winston attempted only 20 passes, so it's hard to read too much into Sunday's stat lines. The main takeaway is that the New Orleans offense seems to be in good hands with Winston at the helm.

  • Saints' Chris Hogan: Rejoining New Orleans

Hogan is re-signing with the Saints on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The Saints didn't want to guarantee Hogan's contract, but they apparently saw enough this summer to give him a spot on the 53-man roster. Like many other veterans, he'll rejoin the team for Week 1 after being released on cutdown Tuesday last week. While Hogan figures to start off in a backup role, the state of the Saints' depth chart could allow him to get some snaps on offense Week 1 against the Packers.

  • Chris Hogan: Cut by New Orleans

Hogan was released by the Saints on Tuesday.

While Hogan is off the team for now, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network mentioned the Saints will try to bring the receiver back later in the week after rosters settle. In the meantime, New Orleans will roll forward with Lil'Jordan Humphrey rounding out the depth chart under Michael Thomas (ankle), Tre'Quan Smith (undisclosed), Marquez Callaway, Deonte Harris and Ty Montgomery.

  • Saints' Chris Hogan: Inking deal with Saints

Hogan will sign a contract with the Saints, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Hogan worked out for the Saints on Monday and apparently will land a gig in New Orleans thanks to the showing. He played in just five games for the Jets last season, racking up 14 catches for 118 yards on 26 targets. He should bolster a Saints receiving corps that likely will be down star wideout Michael Thomas (ankle) in the early going.
