Chris Harris: Hangs up his cleats
Harris announced Tuesday that he is retiring from the NFL, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
Harris, 34, was out of the league last season after spending 2022 in New Orleans. He spent the first nine years of his career with the Broncos, earning four Pro Bowl nominations and one first-team All-Pro selection. Harris played 172 career games, making 145 starts, and recorded 22 interceptions, seven forced fumbles, six sacks, four fumble recoveries and four touchdowns.

Saints' Chris Harris: Earns promotion to 53-man roster
New Orleans signed Harris from its practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game versus Las Vegas.
The Saints had already used their three allowed standard elevations on Harris, and they saw it as necessary to sign him to the active roster for good so he could play Week 8. With Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) out and Paulson Adebo (knee) listed as questionable, Harris may once again be in line for a significant role against Davante Adams (illness) and the Raiders.

Chris Harris: Back on practice squad
The Saints sent Harris back to their practice squad Friday.
New Orleans elevated Harris to the active roster prior to Thursday's loss to Arizona, and he played 62 of 66 defensive snaps, finishing with six tackles and a forced fumble. Marshon Lattimore (abdomen), Paulson Adebo (knee) and Bradley Roby (ankle) are all dealing with injuries, so Harris may be needed again next Sunday when the Saints take on Las Vegas.

The Saints elevated Harris from the practice squad ahead of Thursday's game against the Cardinals.
Harris will suit up for his third consecutive game with New Orleans, as he logged eight tackles and a pass defended over 56 defensive snaps in last week's loss to Cincinnati. The 33-year-old stepped in at strong safety in the Saints' banged-up secondary against the Bengals, as Marcus Maye slid over to a nickel role with cornerback Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) sidelined. Harris should see a similarly prominent role with Lattimore out and Paulson Adebo (knee) questionable heading into Thursday's tilt against Arizona.

Harris played a prominent role in New Orleans' banged-up secondary after being elevated from the practice squad for the second week in a row Sunday, recording eight tackles over 56 defensive snaps. The 33-year-old started at safety alongside Tyrann Mathieu, as Marcus Maye moved to nickel back with starting cornerback Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) sidelined against the Bengals. The Saints will likely exercise Harris' final practice-squad elevation if Lattimore remains sidelined for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.

The veteran slot corner will be up with the Saints for the second week in a row after playing five snaps on defense in last Sunday's win over Seattle. New Orleans signed Harris to its practice squad Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
It's not immediately clear why the Saints saw fit to bring Harris aboard, seeing as Bradley Roby, Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo are all healthy at corner for them. The former All-Pro could still have some quality slot reps left in the tank if he's elevated though.
