  • Twins' John Klein: Sent to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Klein to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

The right-hander was called up Saturday by Minnesota and will return to St. Paul after firing two scoreless frames against Pittsburgh. Across his two stints in the majors this year, Klein has given up two earned runs with 2:4 K:BB in three appearances (4.1 innings).

  • Twins' John Klein: Back in majors

The Twins recalled Klein from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.

Klein has conceded two earned runs in just 2.1 innings with the Twins this season, but since being optioned to Triple-A on May 7, he's posted a 3.65 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with a 16:5 K:BB across 12.1 innings. Now back with the big club, he'll presumably work in a multi-inning role out of the bullpen, replacing Simeon Woods Richardson, who was DFA'd in a corresponding move.

  • Twins' John Klein: Returning to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Klein to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The move comes in order to make room for Yoendrys Gomez, who was acquired by the Twins from the Rays on Wednesday. Klein made one appearance up with the big club Saturday, in which he tossed a perfect inning against the Blue Jays.

  • Twins' John Klein: Recalled from Triple-A

The Twins recalled Klein from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Klein has made seven appearances (six starts) at St. Paul this season, posting a 7.48 ERA and 1.32 WHIP alongside a 24:6 K:BB through 21.2 innings. Although his numbers aren't exactly impressive, the Twins will call upon him to fill the open spot in their bullpen left by Cole Sands' (forearm) move to the injured list Saturday.

  • Twins' John Klein: Moves to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Klein to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Klein was one of nine players sent out of big-league camp in the Twins' latest round of roster cuts. Minnesota added the 23-year-old righty to the 40-man roster this offseason after he accrued a 3.98 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 128:37 K:BB across 106.1 innings between St. Paul and Double-A Wichita in 2025. Klein made 15 of his 31 appearances out of the bullpen last season, but he's been building up as a starter during spring training and is expected to handle a full-time role in the St. Paul rotation in 2026.

  • Twins' John Klein: Working as starter

Klein will be built up as a starter this spring, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.

Klein was used as a starter and reliever in the minors last season with a strong 10.8 K/9 which could make him a candidate for the major-league bullpen at some point. He had a good season at Double-A Wichita with a 3.12 ERA and 95:24 K:BB in 80.2 innings, but he struggled when called up to Triple-A with a 6.66 ERA and 33:13 K:BB in 25.2 innings.
