Royals' Bobby Witt: Diagnosed with Grade 1 MCL sprain
Witt has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his right knee following an MRI, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Witt had to exit Thursday's game versus the Cardinals when his knee twisted awkwardly on a sliding stop at shortstop, and he is not in the lineup Friday. Royals manager Matt Quatraro referred to the diagnosis as a "best-case scenario," adding that the club will see how Witt is feeling Sunday following the team off day Saturday before determining next steps. That suggests Witt has a chance to avoid the 10-day injured list.

Royals' Bobby Witt: Held out of Friday's lineup
WItt (knee) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.
Witt departed Thursday's game against the Cardinals with an apparent knee issue after his right leg twisted under him on a sliding attempt at shortstop, and he'll sit for at least one game. A rare team day off Saturday will provide the All-Star shortstop two straight days of rest heading into Sunday's series finale.

Royals' Bobby Witt: Exits early with knee issue
Witt exited Thursday's contest against the Cardinals in the fourth inning due to an apparent right knee injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Witt torqued his right knee/leg while attempting to make a sliding stop at shortstop in the top of the fourth inning, and he ultimately exited the game before his next at-bat in the bottom of the frame. Witt will finish his night having gone 2-for-2 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Tyler Tolbert has replaced him in the lineup.

Witt went 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Nationals.
The star shortstop stayed ahead of Nasim Nunez in the other dugout to keep hold of the major-league steals lead with 27. Witt has three multi-hit effort in the last four games, and through 15 contests in June he's slashing .305/.414/.373 with four doubles, zero homers, three RBI, 10 runs and 10 stolen bases in 11 attempts.

Witt's activity on the bases continued Sunday, as he recorded his ninth steal of the month and third multi-steal effort of the campaign to boost his season total to 26 stolen bases. The star shortstop is currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 9-for-22 (.409) with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored. It's unclear when the injury cropped up, but Witt was taken out of the game in the seventh inning and was replaced by Michael Massey. Witt went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts prior to his exit, and he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury. Witt (undisclosed) was removed from Sunday's game against the Twins, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Witt was removed from the game in the seventh inning with the Royals holding a 5-1 lead. It's not clear why he was pulled, but the Royals should have an update on the superstar shortstop during or shortly after Sunday's game. Michael Massey is in the game at second base, with Maikel Garcia and Nick Loftin shifting to shortstop and third base, respectively.

Royals' Bobby Witt: Tallies 20th steal in win

Witt wasn't a major factor with the bat in Kansas City's win, though he was able to swipe his 20th base of the season, making him one of four players in MLB to reach the mark this year. The shortstop has been particularly active on the bases of late, tallying five steals across the past four contests. It's been a stellar season for the young star, who's slashing .283/.356/.467 with 26 extra-base hits (nine home runs), 26 RBI, 31 runs and an MLB-best 3.7 fWAR among position players through 62 games.

Royals' Bobby Witt: Launches eighth homer Monday
Witt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Yankees.
Witt briefly gave Kansas City the lead in the eighth inning, crushing a 432-foot solo homer off Jake Bird in one of the game's biggest moments. The superstar shortstop was scorching hot during the first two weeks of May, batting .400 with a .886 slugging percentage over a nine-game stretch, though he has cooled off recently by hitting .250 across his last 10 contests. Even with the slowdown, Witt continues to produce at an elite level, slashing .294/.360/.481 with eight homers, 14 doubles, 24 RBI, 26 runs scored and 16 stolen bases across 239 plate appearances.

Witt went 1-for-3 with two walks and a two-run home run during the Royals' 6-5 loss to the White Sox on Wednesday.
The Royals were down 6-3 heading into the ninth inning, but Witt made the White Sox fans nervous after smacking a two-run homer off Seranthony Dominguez.
