Red Sox's Jedixson Paez: Dealing with hip soreness
Paez will not pitch for Double-A Portland on Saturday due to right hip soreness, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
It's unclear when Paez sustained the injury, but the Red Sox should have an update on a recovery timeline for the 22-year-old pitching prospect once he undergoes more tests on his right hip. He was roughed up in his last outing in Double-A this past Sunday, when he allowed three runs on four hits while striking out two across three innings.

Red Sox's Jedixson Paez: Returned to Red Sox
Paez cleared waivers Saturday and was returned to the Red Sox, Chris Henrique of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.
The White Sox selected Paez during the Rule 5 Draft over the winter, but after making the Opening Day roster, he was designated for assignment by the club after giving up six earned runs on four hits and three walks in just three innings over three appearances. The 22-year-old had never pitched an inning above the High-A level before debuting for Chicago, but now that he's being returned to his original organization, the Red Sox will have him report to Double-A Portland, per Christopher Smith of MassLive.com.

White Sox's Jedixson Paez: DFA'd by Chicago
The White Sox designated Paez for assignment Wednesday.
Chicago will replace Paez on the 40-man roster and in the bullpen with right-hander Lucas Sims, who was called up from Triple-A Charlotte. Since Paez was a Rule 5 Draft selection over the winter, the White Sox will have to offer him back to the Red Sox if he goes unclaimed off waivers. The 22-year-old righty made relief appearances in three of the White Sox's first five games, allowing six earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two batters over three innings.

White Sox's Jedixson Paez: Claims roster spot
Paez will be included on the White Sox's Opening Day roster, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.
Paez joined the White Sox via the Rule 5 Draft, and although he posted a 6.35 ERA in the Cactus League and has never pitched an inning above High-A, he will break camp with the big club. The 22-year-old right-hander has worked primarily as a starter in the minors but will most likely take on a long-relief role with the South Siders. He will need to remain on the active roster all season or else be offered back to the Red Sox.

White Sox's Jedixson Paez: Snagged by South Siders
The White Sox selected Paez with the second pick in the Rule 5 Draft on Wednesday.
A skinny 6-foot-1 righty from the Red Sox's farm system, Paez only logged 19.1 innings at Double-A in 2025 due to a calf injury. Long known for his stingy control, Paez's walk rates have been below four percent at ever stop since the start of the 2023 season. He lacks impact stuff, but if the White Sox can coax a bit more velocity out of his 91-92 mph fastball, Paez could make it as a back-end starter. He'll likely work as a low-leverage reliever for as long as he sticks on Chicago's active roster in 2026.
