Mariners' Andres Munoz: Secures one-out save
Munoz earned the save in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Rangers, striking out the only batter he faced in the ninth inning.
Munoz was summoned in the ninth after Cole Wilcox allowed two runs and loaded the bases, and he struck out Brandon Nimmo on four pitches to quickly slam the door. The 27-year-old surrendered five runs in a non-save situation Wednesday, but he's now kept opponents off the board in six of eight appearances this season. Overall, Munoz owns a 9.00 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB across seven innings but has converted both of his save opportunities in the early going.

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Secures first save
Munoz walked two and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Friday's 9-6 win over the Astros.
Munoz hadn't gotten a save chance before Friday, mostly due to the Mariners' underwhelming performance early in the season. He was a little shaky, throwing just 12 of 25 pitches for strikes, but he got the job done. Munoz has allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings this season, scattering three hits and two walks while racking up eight strikeouts. If the Mariners get on track, the save chances should follow for the 27-year-old, who converted 38 of his 45 save opportunities in the 2025 regular season while adding a dominant 1.73 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 62.1 innings.

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Picks up win over Halos
Munoz (1-0) picked up the win Friday against the Angels, striking out three across a scoreless and hitless inning.
With the game knotted at 0-0 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Munoz came on for Seattle and promptly struck out Oswald Peraza, Zach Neto and Mike Trout on 19 pitches. The Mariners plated three runs in the top of the 10th inning, and Gabe Speier came on to close it out for Seattle, securing the win for Munoz. Through three appearances, Munoz has a 6.00 ERA and 6:0 K:BB across three innings. He's still looking for his first save.

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Club option for 2026 exercised
The Mariners exercised Munoz's $6 million option for 2026, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Munoz saved 38 regular-season games while posting a 1.73 ERA and 83:28 K:BB over 62.1 innings, so the Mariners made the easy decision to retain him at a bargain rate in 2026. The club also has an $8 million option for 2027 and $10 million option for 2028 on Munoz. The hard-throwing reliever should be one of the best closers in baseball again next season.

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Notches save in Game 1 of ALCS
Munoz pitched a perfect ninth inning on his way to a save in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the ALCS.
Munoz was called upon to protect the team's two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth, throwing seven of his eight pitches for strikes while setting down the side in order. The right-hander has now pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing two walks and no hits while striking out five batters and notching two saves over five appearances this postseason.

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Nabs save in Game 2
Munoz retired the side in order in the ninth inning against the Tigers on Sunday to earn the save in Game 2 of the American League Division Series. He struck out one batter.
After the M's took the lead in the bottom of the eighth, Munoz nailed down the win -- the organization's first home playoff win since 2001. Munoz took a loss to the Dodgers during the final weekend of the regular season, ending a streak of nine consecutive scoreless appearances, but he's bounced back in a big way with three perfect innings so far in the ALDS, and he now has his first career postseason save. The 26-year-old right-hander has emerged as one of the game's top closers, posting a 1.73 ERA and 1.03 WHIP to go along with a career-high 38 saves during the regular season.

The Seattle flamethrower worked around a leadoff runner to pocket the 77th save of his six-year career. Munoz has now completed eight consecutive scoreless outings, over which he's produced a 0.63 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB across eight innings. Overall, the 26-year-old has been one of the league's best relievers this season, producing a 1.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 81:26 K:BB in 60.1 innings while converting 37 of 44 save opportunities.
