Red Sox's Brett Harris: Shipped to Boston
The Red Sox acquired Harris from the Athletics on Tuesday in exchange for right-hander Ben Hansen, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
The Athletics removed Harris from their 40-man roster last weekend, despite the fact that he slashed .336/.441/.537 with five home runs over 178 plate appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas. The Red Sox were willing to make room on their roster for Harris, who could have a chance to contribute in the big leagues at some point in the near future while the club has contended with multiple injuries in the infield. He'll report to Triple-A Worcester to begin his time in his new organization, however.

Athletics' Brett Harris: DFA'd by Athletics
The A's designated Harris for assignment on Saturday.
Harris, who has been with Triple-A Las Vegas since May 12, has now lost his place on the 40-man roster. The 28-year-old recorded just six plate appearances for the big-league club this season, but with Las Vegas, he slashed .336/.441/.537 with five homers and 34 RBI in 178 plate appearances. The Athletics designated Harris in order to make roster room for their new acquisition, Hayden Juenger.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Joining big club
The A's recalled Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old will get his first chance in the big leagues this season as Max Muncy (hand) lands on the injured list. Harris had a .274/.349/.342 slash line in 32 MLB games last season and isn't likely to fill a significant role while up with the Athletics.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Bound for Las Vegas
The Athletics optioned Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.
Harris spent part of the offseason recovering from thumb surgery, but he returned to full health for the start of spring training. The 27-year-old probably needed a big showing in Cactus League play to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster, and his .584 OPS over 26 plate appearances ultimately didn't cut it. Harris is likely to handle an everyday role in the corner infield at Las Vegas.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Undergoes thumb surgery
Harris underwent left thumb surgery Tuesday, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.
It's not clear exactly when Harris hurt his thumb, nor is it known the specific type of procedure he had. Harris is expected to be ready to go for the beginning of spring training, and assuming that happens he'll enter camp with a chance to win a starting job in the Athletics' infield. The 27-year-old slashed .274/.349/.342 with zero home runs over 84 plate appearances during his time with the big club in 2025.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Sitting down Saturday
Harris isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.
After having his four-game hitting streak snapped Friday, Harris will retreat to the dugout to begin the Athletics' penultimate regular-season contest. Darell Hernaiz will slide over to third base as a result, clearing second for Max Schuemann.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Losing out on playing time
Harris is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Harris is on the bench for the third time in four matchups against a right-handed starting pitcher. With the Athletics bringing Max Muncy back from the injured list Saturday, Harris doesn't look as though he'll have a path to an everyday role in the final week of the season.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Out of Friday's lineup
Harris is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Pittsburgh.
After starting three straight games at third base earlier this week, Harris has now been held out of the lineup in back-to-back contests. Darell Hernaiz will play the hot corner and Zack Gelof will handle second base in Friday's series opener. Harris and Gelof could continue to form a quasi-platoon down the stretch, though it will be difficult to know ahead of time which of the two of them is going to start since they both bat from the right side of the plate.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Making third straight start
Harris will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Harris will be included in the starting nine for the third contest in a row after going 5-for-7 with a double over his previous two games. The Athletics appear set to give Harris another look as their everyday third baseman, allowing Darell Hernaiz to shift over to second base in place of the slumping Zack Gelof, who will hit the bench for the third game in a row after striking out at a 36.4 percent clip since the beginning of September.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Losing out on playing time
Harris is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Harris had been seeing fairly steady playing time at third base following his call-up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Aug. 15, but he appears to have faded into a reserve role in the wake of fellow infielder Zack Gelof getting a promotion last Monday. With Gelof starting at second base in all seven of the Athletics' games since his call-up, Darell Hernaiz has shifted over to third base on a more frequent basis.

Harris will miss a second consecutive start since going 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored during Wednesday's game against Detroit. Darell Hernaiz will get the nod at third base instead and bat eighth.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Getting breather
Harris is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.
Harris will take a seat Saturday for the first time since being called up Aug. 15, opening a start for Luis Urias at third base. Harris has gone 5-for-24 (.208) with four runs scored and three RBI since the promotion.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Claiming third straight start
Harris will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Angels.
After going 2-for-6 with two walks, two runs and an RBI in the first two contests of the series, Harris will remain in the lineup for a third straight game since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas. So long as he continues to deliver productive at-bats, Harris will likely hold down the fort at third base until Max Muncy (hand) is cleared to return from the injured list.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Brought up to bigs
The Athletics recalled Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Harris will make his 2025 MLB debut if he gets into a game, as he's spent the entire season at Triple-A. The 27-year-old has slashed .282/.369/.500 with 12 home runs and seven stolen bases across 252 plate appearances for Las Vegas. He'll take Gio Urshela's spot on the active roster and should have an opportunity for regular playing time while Max Muncy (hand) is sidelined.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Returns from IL
Harris (undisclosed) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Saturday in his return to the Triple-A Las Vegas lineup after being activated from the 7-day injured list Friday.
Harris had been out of action at Las Vegas for nearly two months before making his return from the shelf. The 26-year-old third baseman is slashing .382/.462/.636 with three home runs and three stolen bases in 65 plate appearances at Las Vegas for the season and could merit consideration for a promotion to the Athletics if he can maintain a good run of health.

Athletics' Brett Harris: On shelf at Triple-A
Triple-A Las Vegas placed Harris on its 7-day injured list April 18 due to an unspecified injury.
Harris opened the season on the Athletics' 10-day injured list due to an oblique strain, but he was activated April 3 and optioned to Triple-A. Before succumbing to another injury, Harris was sizzling at the plate for Las Vegas, slashing .373/.459/.627 with three home runs and three stolen bases across 61 plate appearances.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Athletics reinstated Harris (oblique) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Harris landed on the injured list ahead of the season due to a strained left oblique that's been bothering him since the start of March. He began playing in rehab games at Las Vegas on Sunday, going 3-for-9 with two RBI and two stolen bases, and he'll officially remain in the minors now that he's fully healthy.

Athletics' Brett Harris: Begins rehab assignment
Harris (oblique) opened a rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base while playing seven innings at third base in a 9-4 loss to Reno.
Harris didn't play in any Cactus League games after Feb. 26 due to a left oblique strain that resulted in him opening the season on the 10-day injured list, but after he was recently able to take part in some simulated games at Athletics camp in Arizona, he was given the green light to head out on a rehab assignment. The 26-year-old may need only a few games at Triple-A to prove his health, but since he doesn't appear to have a path to a spot on Athletics' active roster at the moment, Harris could be optioned to Las Vegas once he's reinstated from the IL.
