Rasmussen (16-5) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, allowing one run on one hit and three walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out 11.
With the 6-1 victory, the Rays clinched the AL East crown and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Rasmussen took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but a leadoff double by Heliot Ramos led to New York's only run of the game. The quality start was the right-hander's 18th of the season, while the 11 Ks represented his third outing of the season in double digits, and first since Aug. 1. It was another strong outing from Rasmussen, who's given up just five runs over 31 innings in his last five starts. The right-hander's ERA is down to 2.72 across 29 starts (165.1 innings) this season with a 0.93 WHIP and 163:29 K:BB. Rasmussen currently lines up to face the Yankees on the road his next time out.

Rasmussen kept San Diego off the board outside of the fourth inning, when Xander Bogaerts delivered a two-run single. It marked the right-hander's first start without a win since July 9, snapping a streak of seven consecutive victories. He's been excellent throughout August, posting a 2.57 ERA with a 37:8 K:BB across 35 innings. Rasmussen is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Rangers.
