The nine Ks were a season high for the right-hander, who racked up 31 called or swinging strikes among his 99 pitches (69 total strikes). Baz has reeled off three straight quality starts, his first ones in a Baltimore uniform, and over that stretch he's delivered a 2.25 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB over 20 innings as he shows signs of turning his season around. The right-hander delivered his second straight quality start on 94 pitches (57 strikes), and Baz left the mound in line for his second win of the season, but the Baltimore bullpen couldn't close things out. Baz is still struggling to find the strike zone, however, and he's issued at least three free passes in four straight outings. The 26-year-old right-hander struggled across the board in a tough matchup Monday. Baz gave up a season-high five earned runs, issued a season-worst five free passes and matched his lowest output in strikeouts of the campaign. Although Baz has tossed at least five frames in each of his first seven starts, he'll bring a rocky 4.99 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 33:16 K:BB over 39.2 innings into his next scheduled outing against the Athletics.

While Baz put together his longest outing of 2026 and fanned a season-high six, it was still a shaky performance overall. The right-hander has now walked multiple batters in three consecutive starts, and he's given up at least six hits three times through four appearances. Baz will be trying to steady the ship the next time he takes the hill in Kansas City, where he'll carry a lackluster 4.91 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB across his first 22 frames.
