Athletics' Jeffrey Springs: Confirmed to start Friday
Springs (hip) is listed as the Athletics' probable starting pitcher for Friday's game against the Tigers in Sacramento.
The left-hander exited his previous start Sunday in Minnesota midway through the second inning due to right discomfort, but he was apparently able to navigate his between-starts throwing program without issue and will return to the hill on four days' rest. Returning to the bump at hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park, Springs won't be a recommended lineup option in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. He hasn't delivered a quality start since May 17 and has gone 0-6 with an 8.82 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in his subsequent 11 outings.

Athletics' Jeffrey Springs: Preparing to make next start
Springs (hip) is expected to be available the next time his turn in the rotation comes up Friday versus the Tigers in Sacramento, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Springs made an early exit in Sunday's 11-8 loss to the Twins due to right hip discomfort. Fortunately for the veteran southpaw, an MRI on his hip came back clean, so assuming he can make it through his upcoming bullpen session without issue, he should be free of restrictions Friday. Over his 11 home starts this season, Springs has pitched to a 6.79 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 54.1 innings.

Springs was removed in the second inning of Sunday's 11-8 loss to the Twins due to right hip discomfort, MLB.com reports.
Springs dropped to 3-11 on the season and was charged with five runs allowed (four earned) on four hits and one walk over 1.1 innings in his start before exiting the contest. The Athletics will likely evaluate Springs further over the next day or two before deciding if he's available to make his next turn through the rotation, which would tentatively fall Friday versus the Tigers in Sacramento. Luis Morales tossed 4.2 innings of long relief Sunday and would be a logical choice to enter the rotation if Springs needs to miss a start.

It was a solid outing overall for Springs, who held San Francisco to one run through his first five innings before giving up two runs in the sixth.
