Bregman went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, a walk, four RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Red Sox.
Bregman was perfect at the plate, going deep in the first and third innings for his third multi-homer game of the second half. After struggling out of the gate, the veteran third baseman posted a 1.010 OPS with 19 home runs and 52 RBI over 61 games since the All-Star break. Overall, he slashed .265/.355/.464 with 28 long balls, 93 RBI, 92 runs scored and three steals across 702 plate appearances and will look to stay hot as the Cubs enter the postseason.

Bregman sustained multiple facial fractures and a swollen left eye after being struck by a ball while in the on-deck circle during Sunday's game against the Reds. He did not require surgery, however, and the 32-year-old has made a rapid recovery to return to the Cubs' lineup as he gets ramped back up ahead of the postseason.

Cubs' Alex Bregman: Resumes hitting
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Thursday that Bregman (face) resumed hitting Wednesday and it "went well," per Patrick Mooney of The Athletic.
Bregman suffered multiple facial fractures and a swollen left eye after being struck by a ball while in the on-deck circle last week. He took swings off the Trajekt machine Wednesday and is "feeling good in terms of the hitting part," according to Counsell, who added that the third baseman "needs to get the swelling down" in his left cheek before being cleared to play in games. The Cubs aren't ruling Bregman out for a return this weekend in Boston, but he will continue to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

Cubs' Alex Bregman: Will avoid IL stint
Manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that the Cubs will not place Bregman (face) on the injured list, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Bregman suffered multiple facial fractures after getting struck by a foul ball while in the on-deck circle Sunday. Though it remains unknown how far away he is from returning, the Cubs say that they are taking a day-by-day approach with the veteran third baseman and haven't ruled him out of returning before the end of the regular season. In the meantime, Pedro Ramirez is expected to receive the bulk of starts at third base.

Cubs' Alex Bregman: Suffers multiple facial fractures
Bregman has been diagnosed with multiple facial fractures after being struck on the left side of the face with a foul ball while on the on-deck circle during Sunday's game versus the Reds, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The injury will end Bregman's regular season, but he does not need surgery and is hopeful of returning at some point during the postseason. When exactly that return might happen is unclear, but more could be known later this week after the Cubs see how the third baseman progresses. Bregman overcame a slow start to finish with a .262/.352/.452 batting line and 26 home runs over 153 games in his first season with the Cubs. With Bregman out, the Cubs could turn to Pedro Ramirez at third base.

Cubs' Alex Bregman: Struck by foul ball
Bregman was removed from Sunday's game against the Reds after being struck in the face by a foul ball while in the on-deck circle, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
A check swing by Michael Busch resulted in an unusual trajectory for the foul ball, and Bregman had minimal time to protect himself. The veteran third baseman immediately headed to the clubhouse and was replaced by a pinch hitter. According to Montemurro, Bregman had a laceration, a bloody nose and a swollen cheek. He was sent to the hospital to be evaluated further.

The veteran third baseman extended his hitting streak to eight games and continued a torrid stretch of baseball that dates back farther. Since the beginning of August, Bregman is slashing .308/.372/.662 with 13 home runs and 34 RBI across 32 games. With the hot stretch, Bregman now has his fifth career season with at least 20 homers and 80 RBI, and his first such campaign since he was with the Astros in 2023.
