Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Back in action Friday
Swanson (glute) will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Friday's game versus the Diamondbacks.
Swanson didn't start the Cubs' last game Wednesday due to a left glute cramp, but he's ready to go for Friday's series opener. The 32-year-old is hitting only .214 in his first 30 games this season, but the counting stats have been there with six home runs, 23 RBI, 23 runs and two stolen bases.

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Taking seat for series finale
Swanson (glute) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.
Swanson was lifted prior to the bottom of the second inning in Tuesday's 8-3 win after experiencing a left glute cramp. The Cubs haven't indicated that Swanson is dealing with anything more significant than the cramp, so he's presumably just getting some extra rest Wednesday as a matter of precaution. Chicago is off Thursday, so Swanson will get two full days to recover before likely returning to the lineup Friday versus the Diamondbacks.

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Exits with cramps
Swanson was removed from Tuesday's game against the Padres with a left glute cramp, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Swanson hit a two-RBI double and stole a base in the second inning but was replaced on defense to begin the bottom half of the frame. The Cubs may decide to sit him down Wednesday as a precaution, which would give Matt Shaw or Nicky Lopez a start in the infield.

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Starts, completes comeback effort
Swanson went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a triple, a hit-by-pitch, four total RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 6-4 win over the Dodgers.
Swanson started the Cubs' comeback effort with a two-run triple in the seventh inning. He added a two-run homer in the ninth to put his team ahead for the first time in the game, and Corbin Martin was able to make that lead stand. Swanson is 5-for-17 with three extra-base hits and nine RBI over his last five games. For the season, the shortstop is batting .209 with an .802 OPS, six homers, 21 RBI, 22 runs scored, a double, a triple and a steal over 26 contests.

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Blasts fifth homer Monday
Swanson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 5-1 win over the Phillies.
Swanson took advantage of a sinker left over the middle by Aaron Nola, blasting it over the center-field wall to extend the Cubs' lead in the second inning. It marked the shortstop's fifth homer of the season, and he owns a respectable .733 OPS despite a .192 batting average through 22 games. A career .250 hitter, improvement in the batting average department would help boost Swanson's overall fantasy value.

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Goes deep again Wednesday
Swanson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Wednesday's 11-2 win over the Phillies.
Swanson appears to be heating up, as he now has three home runs across his last four games. The shortstop's batting average is still sitting at just .200, but his recent surge suggests that figure will continue to climb. Swanson has also yet to sit out a game this season, and his consistent playing time should offer him plenty of opportunities to keep racking up counting stats while he's locked in at the plate.

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Homers in loss
Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 13-7 loss to the Phillies.
Swanson was a bright spot for the Cubs in a tough loss, as he connected for his third home run of the season in the fourth inning. All of the shortstop's long balls have come in the last eight games, including one in each of his last two contests. Swanson is starting to get his bat going after a sluggish start to the year, and he could be back on track to reach the 20-homer plateau for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
