Dylan Strome C | WAS
Capitals' Dylan Strome: Records two points against Philly
Strome banked an even-strength goal, a power-play assist and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 5-2 exhibition win over the Flyers.
Strome set up Aliaksei Protas' power-play marker midway through the first period before scoring the game-winner late in the second. The 29-year-old Strome had just 58 points last season after supplying at least 65 in each of the previous three years, but he should be capable of getting back over the 60-point mark in 2026-27 since the Capitals brought in two skilled forwards in Alex Tuch and Jordan Kyrou.

Joseph Woll G | PHI
Flyers' Joseph Woll: Allows three goals in exhibition game
Woll conceded three goals on 19 shots in Monday's 5-2 preseason loss to the Capitals.
Woll will probably play in one more game before the start of the regular season -- the Flyers' preseason schedule wraps up Saturday against the Capitals. The Missouri native is set to work as the No. 2 option behind Dan Vladar this season, but it could be a closer split than most would expect to keep both netminders fresh.

Cameron Hughes C | DAL
Stars' Cameron Hughes: Injured early in Monday's exhibition matchup
Hughes suffered an upper-body injury after being hit on his first shift of Monday's 2-1 preseason win over the Blues, Robert Tiffin of NHL.com reports.
Head coach Glen Gulutzan said postgame that Hughes will be further evaluated Tuesday. The 29-year-old forward should be considered day-to-day ahead of the Stars' next preseason game, which is at home Wednesday versus the Wild.
-
Charlie Lindgren G | WAS
Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Stops 12 shots Monday
Lindgren made 12 saves on 14 shots during Monday's 5-2 preseason win over the Flyers.
Lindgren was replaced by Clay Stevenson midway through this game. The 32-year-old Lindgren is the clear-cut backup to No. 1 goaltender Logan Thompson, but Lindgren should be a decent option when he's in net for fantasy managers on what is expected to be a strong and revamped Washington club.

Bryan Rust RW | PIT
Penguins' Bryan Rust: In peak form in preseason opener
Rust generated a power-play goal on four shots, two primary assists and a plus-3 rating in Monday's 4-1 exhibition win over the Sabres.
Rust played at a high level in the Penguins' preseason opener, and he looked shifty as well, dangling through the Sabres' defense and dropping a pass to Connor Dewar for the game's opening marker. The 34-year-old Rust produced exactly 65 points across the last two regular seasons, and he should be able to provide a similar level of production this year if Monday's performance is any indication of how he is feeling heading into 2026-27.

Bobby Brink RW | MIN
Wild's Bobby Brink: Bags two goals in OT loss
Brink recorded two goals and placed three shots on net in Monday's 4-3 overtime preseason loss to Chicago.
Brink started Monday's game off with a bang, as he found the back of the net just 15 seconds into regulation before he later tallied the game-tying goal in the third period. The 25-year-old winger appears to be settling into his new home nicely ahead of his first full season with Minnesota. He compiled 15 goals, 30 points, 104 shots on net, 80 hits and 39 blocked shots across 68 regular-season games between the Flyers and Wild. Brink dealt with an upper-body issue down the stretch of last season, but if he can stay healthy, he's primed for middle-six minutes in a strong Minnesota offense. He has a solid chance to return to the 40-point threshold in the 2026-27 campaign.

Alex Lyon G | BUF
Sabres' Alex Lyon: Surrenders three goals in preseason action
Lyon allowed three goals on 19 shots in Monday's 4-1 preseason loss to the Penguins. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Lyon allowed two goals at even strength and one on the power play in the Sabres' preseason opener. The veteran netminder wasn't at his best in this game, specifically on the game's opening goal, which was scored by Connor Dewar. Lyon will almost certainly see more action during Buffalo's preseason schedule, which concludes at home Saturday against Pittsburgh.
-
Spencer Knight G | CHI
Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Allows three goals in OT win
Knight turned aside 19 shots on 22 tries in Monday's 4-3 overtime preseason win over Minnesota.
Knight made his preseason debut Monday, where he ran into trouble in the third period before shoring up his defenses down the stretch in the OT win. The 25-year-old netminder is coming off an up-and-down campaign, where he posted a 19-25-11 record, a 2.82 GAA, a .902 save percentage and three shutouts across 55 regular-season appearances. Considering it was his first full season as a starter and Chicago invested in its defensive core by bringing in Bowen Byram, Knight could see his numbers rise during the 2026-27 campaign.
-
Calvin Pickard G | MIN
Wild's Calvin Pickard: Yields four goals in OT loss
Pickard made 16 of 20 saves in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Blackhawks.
Pickard allowed one goal in each of the first three periods before he allowed the OT winner to Chicago's Bowen Byram just under 30 seconds into the extra stanza. The 34-year-old netminder has played each of Minnesota's last two preseason outings, where he has a combined stat line of 30 saves on 36 total attempts. Despite Monday's struggles, the veteran netminder is expected to play a role for Minnesota early in the season with Filip Gustavsson (hip) expected to miss roughly one month.

Bowen Byram D | CHI
Blackhawks' Bowen Byram: Hat trick hero in debut
Byram scored three goals, including the OT winner, placed five shots on net and recorded two hits in Monday's 4-3 overtime preseason win against the Wild.
In his first official appearance since signing a six-year, $75 million contract with Chicago, Byram found favor with his new fanbase by scoring a hat trick. He found the back of the net in the second and third periods before placing the puck five hole past Minnesota's Calvin Pickard in overtime to secure the exhibition win. The 25-year-old blueliner is coming off a career year in 2025-26, where he posted 11 goals, 42 points, 109 shots on net, 50 hits and 93 blocked shots across 82 regular-season games. If Monday's showing was any indication of what's to come for the rising star, Byram may have found his new home in Chicago, where he'll likely lead the team's blueline at even strength and on the power play.
