  • Lukas Dostal G | ANA

Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Slated to start Wednesday

Dostal is expected to start at home in Wednesday's preseason game against the Kings, per Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune.

Dostal had a 30-20-4 record, 3.10 GAA and .888 save percentage over 56 regular-season outings in 2025-26. He also posted a 4-6 record, 2.18 GAA and .922 save percentage across 10 outings in the 2026 playoffs. Dostal is expected to open the campaign as Anaheim's starter, while Ville Husso is likely to serve as his understudy.

  • Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Deemed week-to-week

Samuelsson is considered week-to-week due to his lower-body injury, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports Wednesday.

Given his timeline, Samuelsson seems unlikely to be ready to go for Opening Night against the Blue Jackets on Oct. 1. With the blueliner unavailable, Owen Power could see an uptick in power-play opportunities, while Ryan Johnson and Zach Metsa could be in the mix for a spot on the 23-man roster.

  • Josh Norris C | BUF

Sabres' Josh Norris: Tallies goal in victory

Norris scored a goal on two shots while recording a blocked shot and two PIM during Tuesday's 5-1 preseason win over the Blue Jackets.

Norris didn't appear in Monday's preseason opener against the Penguins but made an impact in the second half of the back-to-back set. The 27-year-old is coming off an injury-plagued 2025-26 campaign, recording 13 goals, 21 assists, 28 PIM, 27 blocked shots and 24 hits in 44 regular-season appearances. He should continue to play a prominent role if he can remain healthy this season.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Perfect in preseason start

Luukkonen turned aside all 13 shots he faced during Tuesday's 5-1 preseason win over the Blue Jackets.

Luukkonen made his first start of the 2026-27 preseason Tuesday and played two periods. Colten Ellis entered the game in the third period. Luukkonen will battle Alex Lyon for playing time this campaign, and Ellis could be in the mix. Across 35 regular-season appearances with Buffalo last year, Luukkonen went 22-9-3 with a 2.51 GAA and a .909 save percentage.

  • Sharks' Ethan Cardwell: Placed on waivers

Cardwell has been put on waivers by San Jose on Wednesday.

Cardwell had seven goals, 15 points and 17 PIM in 24 regular-season appearances with AHL San Jose in 2025-26. He also had a goal in seven regular-season appearances with the Sharks last campaign. Cardwell is expected to start the upcoming campaign in the minors, but he will likely get some work in the NHL in 2026-27.

  • Tye Felhaber LW | COL

Sharks' Tye Felhaber: Placed on waivers

Felhaber was placed on waivers Wednesday for the purpose of reassignment to AHL San Jose.

Felhaber signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks in July and is set to begin the 2026-27 campaign in the minors. He had 15 goals and 31 points in 63 regular-season appearances with AHL Colorado in 2025-26. He will likely spend most of his time in the minors again this year.

  • Cam Talbot G | CLB

Blue Jackets' Cam Talbot: Allows three goals in preseason defeat

Talbot turned aside 23 of 26 shots during Tuesday's 5-1 preseason loss to Buffalo.

Talbot made his preseason debut Tuesday and played the first two periods before being replaced by Evan Gardner. Talbot was perfect during the first frame but allowed three goals in the second period and didn't get much offensive support. Talbot is also slated to defend the home crease against the Penguins in Thursday's preseason matchup and will likely serve as Jet Greaves' backup to begin the regular season since Elvis Merzlikins (shoulder) doesn't have a timetable to return.

  • Dan Vladar G | PHI

Flyers' Dan Vladar: Listed as day-to-day

Vladar is day-to-day because of an upper-body injury, Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Wednesday.

Vladar left Tuesday's preseason game due to the injury. While that's obviously less than ideal, his status isn't nearly as bleak as it could have been. "I think we dodged a bullet," head coach Rick Tocchet said. Vladar is set to be the Flyers' No. 1 goaltender this campaign, while Joseph Woll is penciled in to serve as his understudy.

  • Mason Lohrei D | BOS

Bruins' Mason Lohrei: Undergoing additional testing

Lohrei continues to be evaluated for an undisclosed injury suffered during practice Wednesday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.

Lohrei had a chance to start the 2026-27 campaign with the No. 1 power-play unit due to Charlie McAvoy's six-game suspension. However, Lohrei's role could be impacted if this injury lingers into the regular season. In 73 regular-season games last year, the 25-year-old blueliner notched seven goals and 19 assists, failing to reach the 30-point mark.

  • Bruins' Matthew Poitras: Is day-to-day

Poitras is day-to-day due to a lower-body injury, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports Wednesday.

Poitras sustained the injury during Tuesday's practice, and he missed Wednesday's morning skate. The 22-year-old had 13 goals, 44 points and 48 PIM in 69 regular-season appearances with AHL Providence in 2025-26. He also had a goal in three regular-season outings with Boston last year. Poitras is likely to spend the majority of the upcoming campaign in the minors.
