Tristan Broz C | PIT
Penguins' Tristan Broz: Named to non-roster injured reserve
Broz (lower body) was designated for non-roster, injured reserve Monday.
Broz made his NHL debut last season, logging one game for Pittsburgh in which he notched two shots in 11:30 of ice time. The 23-year-old winger seemed to be trying to force his way into the Penguins' Opening Night roster, but this injury will likely mean he has to start the 2026-27 season in the minors once he is given the all-clear.

Andrei Kuzmenko LW | PIT
Penguins' Andrei Kuzmenko: Moved to non-roster list
Kuzmenko (personal) was deemed a non-roster player by the Penguins on Monday.
Kuzmenko played in 52 regular-season games for the Kings last year in which he notched 13 goals and 12 assists, including 13 power-play points. Once the 30-year-old winger rejoins the team, he should be in the mix for a middle-six role with the Penguins.

Bryan Rust RW | PIT
Penguins' Bryan Rust: Hits injured reserve
Rust (upper body) was placed on injured reserve by Pittsburgh on Monday and is considered week-to-week according to Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site.
Rust won't be ready for the start of the season with his shift to injured reserve. Given his timeline, fantasy players should anticipate that Rust will be unavailable for at least the opening two games of the year. Without the veteran winger in the lineup, Filip Hallander and Ville Koivunen are both expected to get looks on the third line.

Clay Stevenson G | WPG
Jets' Clay Stevenson: Claimed off waivers
Winnipeg claimed Stevenson off waivers from Washington on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Stevenson appeared in five regular-season games for the Capitals over the past two years, posting a 3-2-0 record and allowing 13 goals on 139 shots. As a member of the Jets, Stevenson could compete for playing time with Stuart Skinner this campaign, as Connor Hellebuyck (suspension) is seemingly out of the picture.

Canucks' Jake DeBrusk: Being evaluated
DeBrusk (lower body) missed Monday's practice and is being evaluated, Canucks play-by-play announcer Brendan Batchelor reports.
DeBrusk is expected to travel with his teammates ahead of Tuesday's season opener against Edmonton. He produced 23 goals on 219 shots on net and 42 points, including 24 on the power play, in 81 regular-season appearances for Vancouver in 2025-26.

Thatcher Demko G | VAN
Canucks' Thatcher Demko: Hopes to return by Christmas
Co-president of hockey operations Henrik Sedin said Monday that he hopes Demko (hip) will be ready to return before Christmas, Kevin Woodley of NHL.com reports.
Demko missed the second half of the 2025-26 season after undergoing hip surgery in January, and he was officially placed on injured reserve last week. He doesn't yet have a clear timetable for when he'll be back in action, but Sedin said that Demko is "taking steps every day" in his recovery process. While Demko is sidelined, Kevin Lankinen and Leevi Merilainen should compete for starts in the Canucks' crease.

Ben Hutton D | OTT
Ben Hutton: Cut loose from PTO
Hutton will be released from his professional tryout agreement with Ottawa on Monday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Hutton compiled six goals, 15 points, 71 shots on net, 55 blocked shots, 28 hits and 19 PIM in 55 appearances for Vegas during the 2025-26 regular season. The window is tighter now, but Hutton still has time to find another team before the 2026-27 campaign begins.

Pavel Mintyukov D | ANA
Ducks' Pavel Mintyukov: Returns to practice Monday
Mintyukov (illness) returned to practice Monday, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.
Mintyukov was sidelined for Saturday's preseason finale against the Kings due to an illness, but he appears to be back to full health a few days later. The 22-year-old will have several days to work with the Ducks in practice and should be available for their Opening Night matchup against the Golden Knights on Friday.

Tristan Jarry G | EDM
Oilers' Tristan Jarry: In goal Tuesday
Jarry will get the starting nod for Tuesday's home clash with Vancouver, Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Jarry went 9-6-2 with a career-worst 3.86 GAA in his 19 regular-season appearances with the Oilers following his trade from Pittsburgh. While it seems the backstop is going to get the first crack at the starting gig with Frederik Andersen (undisclosed) on the shelf, Devon Levi will be waiting in the wings to take over if Jarry stumbles.
