Sam Montembeault G | MON
Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Sustains undisclosed injury
Montembeault sustained an undisclosed injury during Wednesday's practice, per Canadiens beat reporter Priyanta Emrith.
Montembeault left the skate as a result of the injury. There wasn't an immediate update, but he is being evaluated. If Montembeault isn't an option for Thursday's home game against Nashville, then the Canadiens will need to call up a goaltender. Jakub Dobes might get the start regardless of Montembeault's availability, but Dobes chances of getting the assignment naturally increase if Montembeault is injured.

Andrei Svechnikov RW | CAR
Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Deposits empty-netter
Svechnikov scored an empty-net goal on three shots and added four hits in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Canadiens.
Montreal stayed in the mix throughout the game, but Svechnikov's empty-netter put the game out of reach. This was his first goal of the season. The power winger has four points, including two on the power play, and he's added 15 shots on net, 15 hits and two blocked shots from a top-line role.

Filip Forsberg LW | NSH
Predators' Filip Forsberg: Supplies two helpers
Forsberg registered two assists and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.
Forsberg helped out on both of Nils Hoglander's tallies in the contest. The two wingers are playing on a line with Matthew Wood at center to begin the campaign. Forsberg has come up empty on five shots so far, but he has three assists and four hits over three contests. The 32-year-old winger has typically averaged more than three shots per game in his career, so expect his volume -- and success -- to increase as the season progresses.

Jack Roslovic C | TOR
Maple Leafs' Jack Roslovic: Pair of points in win
Roslovic scored a goal on four shots and added an assist in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Predators.
Roslovic has seen top-line usage at even strength at times this season. He's already picked up three points, 10 shots on net, three hits and a plus-2 rating over four contests. In the right situation, Roslovic can be an effective complementary scorer, and it appears that's exactly what he's getting in Toronto. He's worth a look in fantasy formats that focus on offense.

John Tavares C | TOR
Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Nets first goal of campaign
Tavares scored a goal on six shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Predators.
Tavares helped spark the Maple Leafs' offense with a second-period tally to answer the game's first three goals from Nashville. This was Tavares' first goal of the season, along with two assists, 14 shots on net, four blocked shots, four PIM and a minus-2 rating. The 36-year-old center continues to fill a second-line role and a spot on the first power-play unit. He's reached the 70-point mark in four of the last five years and could do so again in 2026-27 as long as his usage is steady.
-
Jesper Boqvist C | NJ
Devils' Jesper Boqvist: Scores in season debut
Boqvist scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Mammoth.
Boqvist sat out the first two games as a healthy scratch before bumping Stefan Noesen from the lineup Tuesday. Boqvist's goal came in 9:49 of ice time. The 27-year-old forward likely doesn't have a path to much more than bottom-six usage, and he could get replaced in the lineup once Connor Brown (lower body) is healthy.
-
Lawson Crouse LW | UTA
Mammoth's Lawson Crouse: Pots game-winner Tuesday
Crouse scored a goal, logged two PIM and added two hits in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Devils.
Crouse's goal in the final minute of the second period stood as the game-winner. The physical winger has filled a third-line role so far, earning two points, nine shots, 12 hits and a plus-2 rating over four contests. Crouse hasn't gotten onto a power-play unit yet, but in 2025-26, he earned 41 of his 44 regular-season points at even strength, so he can still be effective even if his special-teams usage is limited.

Logan O'Connor RW | COL
Avalanche's Logan O'Connor: Might be available for Thursday
O'Connor (lower body) won't play Wednesday in Winnipeg, but he might be an option Thursday in Calgary, per Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette.
O'Connor is set to miss his third straight game Wednesday due to the injury. He'll likely serve in a bottom-six capacity once he's available, but the 30-year-old might also spend some time as a healthy scratch. O'Connor had two assists in 13 regular-season outings with the Avalanche in 2025-26.
-
Spencer Stastney D | PIT
Penguins' Spencer Stastney: Traded to Pittsburgh
Stastney was traded to the Penguins from the Oilers on Wednesday in exchange for Filip Hallander.
Stastney split time between Nashville and Edmonton during the 2025-26 campaign, recording two goals, eight assists, 63 blocked shots, 20 PIM and 13 hits while averaging 15:30 of ice time. He signed a one-year, $1.575 million contract with the Oilers during the offseason but didn't appear in any of the team's first three regular-season games. He'll now have the opportunity to attempt to carve out a role with the Penguins.

Joel Kiviranta LW | DAL
Stars' Joel Kiviranta: Set to miss next two games
Kiviranta (lower body) will miss Dallas' upcoming two-game road trip, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports Wednesday.
Dallas will play in Buffalo on Thursday and Pittsburgh on Saturday without Kiviranta. However, the hope is that he's ready to go after the road trip, per Robert Tiffin of NHL.com, so Kiviranta might still be an option for Tuesday's home game against Colorado. The 30-year-old has a goal in two appearances with the Stars in 2025-26. Colin Blackwell will likely draw back into the lineup due to Kiviranta's absence.
