Igor Shesterkin G | NYR
Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Four wins in last five games
Shesterkin made 29 saves in a 7-3 win over the Capitals on Tuesday.
The game was tight until the second half of the third period when Shesterkin's teammates scored five unanswered goals, starting at the 8:10 mark, to seal the win. He's 4-1-0 in his last five starts, but he's done it with an .887 save percentage, including two four-goal games.

John Gibson G | DET
Red Wings' John Gibson: Dominant December continues
Gibson made 19 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over Dallas on Tuesday.
Two of the goals came on the power play. December has been Gibson's month. He's 8-0-0 with two shutouts and a .927 save percentage. Gibson's overall stat line remains average (3.01 GAA and .891 save percentage), so there might be a manager or two who haven't noticed he's gotten hot. You might be able to get him relatively cheap.

Casey DeSmith G | DAL
Stars' Casey DeSmith: Done in by Dylan Larkin's exploits
DeSmith made 21 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit.
DeSmith was leading until 15:57 of the third when Dylan Larkin beat him, and then Larkin scored again 34 seconds into the overtime frame. The four goals were the most DeSmith has allowed since his first game of the season (Oct. 16; five goals). That's also the last time he lost in regulation -- he's 9-0-4 in 13 starts since, and his 2.33 GAA and .915 save percentage overall continue to shine. DeSmith is one of the NHL's best backups.

Joey Daccord G | SEA
Kraken's Joey Daccord: In goal Tuesday
Daccord will protect the road goal versus the Kings on Tuesday, Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period reports.
Daccord will take the second half of a back-to-back after Philipp Grubauer won a 3-1 game over the Ducks on Monday. Daccord has allowed nine goals on 129 shots while going 2-2-0 over his last four games. The Kings are also playing their second game in as many days, so this could be a sloppy game despite both teams having solid defensive structures.
-
Pheonix Copley G | CLB
Kings' Pheonix Copley: Will start Tuesday
Copley will protect the home goal versus the Kraken on Tuesday, John Hoven of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio reports.
Copley will make his first NHL appearance of 2025-26 as the Kings play in the second half of a back-to-back. The 33-year-old will get a fairly easy assignment -- the Kraken have scored 14 goals over their last six contests and played Monday as well, earning a 3-1 win over the Ducks.
-
Stuart Skinner G | WPG
Penguins' Stuart Skinner: Still struggling in new home
Skinner made 25 saves in a 6-3 loss to Toronto on Tuesday.
The game was closer than the score suggests -- Skinner allowed just four goals, with the final two markers being empty-net markers. Still, his time in Pennsylvania has been worse than his tenure in Alberta. Skinner is 0-3-0 with a 4.18 GAA and an .831 save percentage in three starts in black and gold. Bench him until his game rounds into form.

Vitek Vanecek G | NYI
Mammoth's Vitek Vanecek: Getting surprise start
Vanecek will guard the road goal versus the Avalanche on Tuesday.
Karel Vejmelka (upper body) was originally expected to start, but Vanecek will instead get the nod. Vanecek hasn't won since Oct. 26 versus the Jets, going 0-6-1 with a 3.43 GAA and an .855 save percentage over his last seven contests. It'll be a tall task to shake off that skid against the NHL's top team.

Karel Vejmelka G | UTA
Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Not starting after all
Vejmelka (upper body) won't play Tuesday versus the Avalanche.
Vejmelka was previously slated to start the contest, but the injury will prevent him from doing so. Vitek Vanecek will instead get the nod in goal for this contest. Vejmelka will have nearly a week to heal up before the Mammoth's schedule resumes Monday at home versus the Predators.
-
Joseph Woll G | PHI
Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Gets win behind struggling squad
Woll made 29 saves in a 6-3 win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
Woll made some big saves Tuesday, but he was also shaky in moments and couldn't seem to find the puck during scrambles. He's in a tough spot behind a struggling squad, but Woll has still managed a 2-1-0 record and a .910 save percentage in three games since his return from injury.

Juuse Saros G | NSH
Predators' Juuse Saros: Starting in Minnesota
Saros will guard the road goal against the Wild on Tuesday.
Saros is coming off a 19-save effort in Saturday's 5-3 win over Toronto. He has a 13-11-3 record this season with a 2.95 GAA and an .897 save percentage through 27 appearances. Minnesota is tied for 15th in the league with 3.03 goals per game this year.
