Cam Talbot G | CLB
Blue Jackets' Cam Talbot: Barely tested in relief
Talbot stopped two of three shots in relief Tuesday in a 6-2 loss to Toronto.
The Leafs overwhelmed Jet Greaves early, and then barely engaged Talbot -- those three shots came in close to a half game's work (27:57). The Blue Jackets sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with few signs of life right now. Both Talbot and Greaves are headed for a winter of discontent.

Philipp Grubauer G | SEA
Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Wins in shootout
Grubauer stopped 22 of 25 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Red Wings.
This could have been a much less dramatic performance -- Grubauer kept the Red Wings off the board for the first two periods. A three-goal collapse in the third sent it to overtime, but Grubauer stopped three of four attempts in the shootout to seal the win. He's allowed nine goals on 86 shots while starting three of the Kraken's last four games (no back-to-backs). Head coach Lane Lambert remains as unpredictable as ever with his goalie usage, so it's unclear if Grubauer will get a chance to build off this win when the Kraken host the Mammoth on Thursday.

Jet Greaves G | CLB
Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Pulled in middle of storm of Leafs
Greaves allowed five goals on 19 shots in 32:03 Tuesday before being replaced by Cam Talbot in a 6-2 loss to Toronto.
The Leafs came in waves early and there was little Greaves could do with his team on their heels. He's had a rough start to the season. In five starts, he's 2-3-0 with a 3.34 GAA, .883 save percentage and one shutout, and he has three games where he's allowed four or more goals. Ugh. The Blue Jackets sit last in the Eastern Conference with a 3-5-0 record -- yes, they're worse than the slow-starting Flyers. And they're tied with Chicago with the fourth-worst record in the NHL. Greaves is good, but this could be a long season.

Anthony Stolarz G | TOR
Maple Leafs' Anthony Stolarz: Gets third win of season
Stolarz made 35 saves in a 6-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Stolarz is 3-1-0 in four starts with a 2.99 GAA and .897 save percentage this season. That save percentage is slightly better than the current league average (.892), and his GAA is a hair worse than average (2.91). In a projected 30 starts this season, Stolarz will be as good as anyone you can have in the blue paint and maybe even better once the team in front of him figures things out. The Leafs have been a mixed bag so far, so Stolarz's numbers could even improve with time.

Jake Allen G | NJ
Devils' Jake Allen: Game not in doubt until it was
Allen made 31 saves in a 4-3 win over Colorado on Tuesday. It was his second straight start.
It was a big, yet bizarre night for Allen. He was honored prior to the game for playing in 500 NHL games. And he was especially sharp in the third period when he made 13 saves. The game never really felt in doubt until it did, when the Avs suddenly poured kerosene onto the fire in the last four minutes of the game and potted two goals to make it seem close. Allen went toe-to-toe with the Avs stars and emerged victorious. He's 4-2-0 with three wins in his last four starts. But he has also allowed four or more goals in half of his six starts. And Allen's 3.15 GAA and .883 save percentage both sit below the current NHL averages (2.91 GAA and .892 save percentage). It's still early, but he put in an above average performance last season. We're watching this closely.

Scott Wedgewood G | COL
Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Allows three goals in loss
Wedgewood made 37 saves in a 4-3 loss to the Devils on Tuesday.
He allowed three goals. Wedgewood was pulled for an extra attacker around the three-quarter mark of the third before the Devils popped in the eventual winner. His teammates roared back with two quick goals in the last three-plus minutes to make the score look closer than the game actually was. Wedgewood looked sharp, especially with the heavy volume of shots. But he's still clearly the backup with Mackenzie Blackwood getting the majority of starts. Wedgewood remains a decent option in dailies when he does slot into the paint -- he has a 1-1-1 record with a 2.65 GAA and sharp .912 save percentage.

Jacob Markstrom G | FLA
Panthers' Jacob Markstrom: Officially shifts to IR
Markstrom was placed on injured reserve by the Panthers on Tuesday, per the NHL Media Site.
The Panthers announced Tuesday morning that Markstrom was set to miss the next 10-14 days, with his placement on IR later confirming his upcoming absence. The 36-year-old backstop has compiled a 3-1-1 record, a 2.21 GAA and an .897 save percentage across six outings to open the new season. Upon his return, which is projected to happen in early November, Markstrom is set to be a strong fantasy option behind a solid defensive unit.

Alex Nedeljkovic G | SJ
Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Starting in Montreal
Nedeljkovic will defend the road net against Montreal on Tuesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Nedeljkovic will get the second half of San Jose's back-to-back after Yaroslav Askarov played in Monday's 3-1 loss to Toronto. The 30-year-old Nedeljkovic has made 80 saves on 87 shots during his 2-0-1 start to the 2026-27 campaign. Montreal (4-3-1) is tied for 13th in the league this season with 3.13 goals per game.

Pyotr Kochetkov G | CAR
Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Poised to start Tuesday
Kochetkov is expected to guard the road goal against Vancouver on Tuesday, according to Walt Ruff and Peter Dewar of the Hurricanes' official site.
Kochetkov has stopped 93 of 102 shots during his five-game winning streak to begin the 2026-27 campaign. Vancouver (2-7-1) is tied for 17th in the league with 3.00 goals per game this season.

Jesper Wallstedt G | MIN
Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Slated to face Oilers
Wallstedt is expected to guard the road crease in Tuesday's clash against the Oilers, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.
Wallstedt is on a roll entering Tuesday's contest, as he earned his fourth consecutive win in Sunday's clash against the Blue Jackets. Overall, the 23-year-old backstop has been elite with a 6-1-1 record, a 1.99 GAA and a .921 save percentage across eight appearances. With Filip Gustavsson (hip) not expected to be back in the mix until late November, Wallstedt remains one of the top goalies in fantasy for the time being. He'll face a tough test Tuesday against Edmonton, but he should be started with confidence given his recent success.
