  • Bruins' Casey Mittelstadt: Two-point day helps carry team

Mittelstadt had a goal and assist in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Hurricanes.

Mittelstadt took a cross-crease pass from Charlie McAvoy, who had joined the rush, and he tapped the puck past Frederik Andersen to put the Bruins up 1-0 early in the third. The assist came when Mittelstadt lifted the puck out of the defensive zone, allowing Viktor Arvidsson to skate into it on a partial breakaway. The points were Mittelstadt's first in four games, although he now has eight (four goals, four assists) in 13 appearances this season. He has two high 50-point regular seasons under his belt, with 59 in 2022-23 and 57 in 2023-24, but he has struggled to make a significant offensive impact since then.

  • Maple Leafs' Steven Lorentz: Unavailable Saturday

Lorentz (upper body) isn't expected to play in Saturday's clash against Philadelphia, per David Alter of The Hockey News.

Lorentz has four assists in eight appearances with Toronto in 2025-26. Calle Jarnkrok is expected to draw back into the lineup due to Lorentz's absence. The 29-year-old Lorentz's next opportunity to play will come Monday against Pittsburgh.

  • Flyers' Sean Couturier: Out of lineup Saturday

Couturier (upper body) won't play versus the Maple Leafs on Saturday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Couturier will miss a game due to the injury he sustained Thursday versus the Predators. The 32-year-old's issue is not considered severe, so it's possible he'll be ready to go Sunday versus the Flames. Jacob Gaucher is checking into the Flyers' lineup Saturday.

  • Blues' Robert Thomas: Out again Saturday

Thomas (upper body) won't play Saturday versus the Blue Jackets, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Thomas will be out for a fourth straight game, though he has reportedly made progress in his recovery. His next chance to play is Monday versus the Oilers.

  • Dylan Strome C | WAS

Capitals' Dylan Strome: Slated to play

Strome (lower body) is expected to play Saturday versus the Sabres, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.

Strome was labeled a game-time decision earlier in the day, but he took warmups in a top-six spot while Spencer Smallman was an extra. The 28-year-old Strome will functionally replace Pierre-Luc Dubois (lower body) in the lineup for this contest.

  • Dylan Strome C | WAS

    Capitals' Dylan Strome: Game-time call

Strome (lower body) will be a game-time decision against Buffalo on Saturday, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post.

Strome has two goals and 10 points in nine appearances with Washington in 2025-26. He's missed the Capitals' past two games because of the injury. Spencer Smallman might make his NHL debut if Strome isn't able to face the Sabres.

  • Avalanche's Gavin Brindley: Not playing Saturday

Brindley (upper body) won't play against San Jose on Saturday, according to Corey Masisak of the Denver Post.

Brindley will miss at least one game after being injured in Friday's 4-2 win over Vegas. He has chipped in one goal, one assist, 12 shots on net and nine hits across 11 appearances this season. Due to Brindley's absence, Taylor Makar will make his NHL debut on Colorado's fourth line versus the Sharks on Saturday.

  • Seth Jarvis C | CAR

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Good to go Saturday

Jarvis (lower body) will play against Boston on Saturday, per the NHL media site.

Jarvis won't miss additional time after blocking a shot in the third period of Thursday's 6-2 win over the Islanders. He will occupy his regular roles on the top line and first power-play unit versus the Bruins. He has accounted for seven goals, 11 points, 35 shots on net, five blocked shots and six hits over 10 appearances this season.

  • Matt Duchene C | DAL

Stars' Matt Duchene: Not available Saturday

Duchene (upper body) will miss Saturday's tilt in Florida, Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sports reports.

Duchene is not in concussion protocol, according to head coach Glen Gulutzan, but is day-to-day. Duchene will miss his seventh straight game. He has one goal and one assist in four appearances this season.

  • Flyers' Sean Couturier: Game-time call

Couturier (upper body) will be a game-time decision against Toronto on Saturday, Charlie O'Connor of PHLY Sports reports.

Couturier participated in Saturday's morning skate, but he wasn't involved in line rushes. He sat out the final two periods of Thursday's 4-1 win over Nashville due to the injury. Couturier has accounted for two goals, seven assists, 16 shots on net, nine blocked shots and nine hits across 10 appearances this season. If Couturier receives the green light to play against the Maple Leafs on Saturday, Jacob Gaucher will probably be a healthy scratch.
