The Canadiens announced Thursday that Suzuki is expected to miss 2-4 weeks due to an upper-body injury. Suzuki had appeared in 546 consecutive regular-season games for Montreal, but his iron-man streak will come to an end early in the 2026-27 campaign due to his upper-body injury. He was off to a solid start to begin the year, recording five goals, seven assists, 14 hits, seven blocked shots and two PIM while averaging 21:47 of ice time across his first nine appearances of the regular season. Given his return timetable, the 27-year-old will likely be in the mix to return in early-to-mid November.

Suzuki picked up a goal on four shots on net and added an assist, a blocked shot and a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Sharks. Montreal's top line of Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky accounted for all the team's scoring and wasn't on the ice for either of San Jose's even-strength tallies. Suzuki has a tidy four-game point streak going, and through nine contests to begin the season he's delivered five goals and 12 points as he looks to repeat or even exceed his 101-point campaign from 2025-26.

Suzuki scored a power-play goal on three shots in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Capitals. Suzuki's tally got the Canadiens within a goal late in the third period, but they weren't able to tie it. The 27-year-old center is up to four goals, five assists, 20 shots, 11 hits, five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over seven contests this season. Remarkably, his goal Wednesday was his first power-play point of the campaign. Once he gets rolling with the man advantage, he'll be a true force on offense as he looks to repeat his 101-point regular season from last year.

Suzuki scored a goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to Nashville. Suzuki extended his point streak to three games in Thursday's loss, where he tallied an unassisted goal just over three minutes into the second period. Overall, the 27-year-old center is up to three goals, seven points, a plus-3 rating, nine shots on goal and eight hits across four outings to begin the new season. While Montreal's offense as a whole took a hit with the loss of Ivan Demidov (lower body) to injured reserve, Suzuki has showcased enough skill across his eight-year NHL career to stay the course when another key offensive player goes down to injury. Fresh off a 101-point showing across 82 regular-season games a year ago, Suzuki projects to challenge the century mark once again in 2026-27, where he is an elite fantasy option in all league formats.

Suzuki has delivered back-to-back multi-point performances, giving him two goals and six points through three games to begin the campaign along with eight shots on net, eight hits and a plus-4 rating.
