Korpisalo (lower body) will miss at least four more weeks, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet on Saturday. Korpisalo has already missed the first six games of the season and remains on injured reserve. The Rangers announced Saturday that Igor Shesterkin (lower body) will miss the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign. With Korpisalo and Shesterkin unavailable, Dylan Garand is currently the Rangers' No. 1 goaltender.

Korpisalo sustained a lower-body injury and has been placed on injured reserve Thursday, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. Korpisalo was labeled week-to-week by the Rangers, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect him back in action in the short term. Last year, the 32-year-old netminder went 14-9-6 in 31 regular-season outings with a 3.15 GAA, .894 save percentage and one shutout. With Korpisalo on the shelf, Dylan Garand has been called up to serve as the No. 2 option in New York.

Korpisalo stopped 20 of 23 shots in a 4-3 preseason shootout win over the Devils on Thursday. Korpisalo's first start of the preseason wasn't all that impressive. The veteran netminder is still the favorite to fill the backup role behind Igor Shesterkin, but Korpisalo has left the door open for Dylan Garand to make a challenge for that gig. All three goalies have started one preseason game, though it's unlikely Korpisalo will go again Friday against the Islanders. Even if he wins the competition, Korpisalo isn't in a fantasy-friendly role -- he's on a rebuilding team and trapped on the depth chart behind a star goalie.

Korpisalo was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports, indicating that he'll draw the home preseason start against the Devils. Korpisalo is competing for the Rangers' backup goaltending job ahead of the regular season and will draw his first preseason start Thursday. He made 31 regular-season appearances for Boston last year, going 14-9-6 with a 3.15 GAA and .894 save percentage. It seems likely that Korpisalo will win the No. 2 job over Dylan Garand, but a strong showing Thursday would help to further stake his claim on that role behind Igor Shesterkin.

Korpisalo will have to earn the backup job ahead of Opening Night against the Bruins, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports Wednesday. Korpisalo should have the inside track to secure the No. 2 role, but he is far from a lock to beat out Dylan Garand. Even if Korpisalo wins the battle, he is unlikely to see many starts behind workhorse netminder Igor Shesterkin. As such, Korpisalo probably won't offer much more than middling fantasy value.
