  • Bears' Luther Burden: Expected to play Sunday

Burden and fellow rookie Colston Loveland are expected to play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Dolphins, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Several of the Bears' offensive starters will be absent from Sunday's contest, including Caleb Williams, D'Andre Swift, DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Cole Kmet. Per Briggs, Burden figures to see plenty of reps Sunday, and he'll operate as the WR1 with Moore and Odunze in street clothes.

  • Jaylen Waddle WR | DEN

Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Unlikely to play vs. Chicago

Based on pregame warmups, Waddle is not in line to play against the Bears in Sunday's preseason opener, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Waddle and Tyreek Hill (oblique) are in street clothes during warmups. It appears Tua Tagovailoa will be without his top two pass catchers, which means Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Malik Washington, Dee Eskridge and Tahj Washington should see more snaps on offense. Waddle's next chance to play will be Saturday against the Lions.

  • Tyreek Hill WR | MIA

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Not on track to play Sunday

Based on pregame warmups, Hill (oblique) is not in line to play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Bears, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

It appears the Dolphins will be without their top wideout duo with both Hill and Jaylen Waddle absent from warmups. Hill currently is working through an oblique injury, and his next opportunity to suit up will be this coming Saturday against the Lions.

  • Texans' Braxton Berrios: Scores lone TD in preseason opener

Berrios caught all three targets for 33 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown reception, in Saturday's 20-10 preseason loss to the Vikings. He also had a 24-yard kickoff return and nine-yard punt return.

Berrios did most of the work on a misdirection play, catching the ball near the line of scrimmage and scooting up field before lowering his shoulder at the goal line. His primary job for the Texans is expected to be that of a returner, but the touchdown catch was a significant moment in Berrios' first game back since tearing his ACL last season while with Miami.

  • Bengals' Jermaine Burton: Doesn't practice Sunday

Burton did not participate in Sunday's training camp practice due to an undisclosed injury, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Burton may have picked up the injury during the Bengals' preseason loss to the Eagles on Thursday. The 2024 third-rounder is considered day-to-day, and his practice participation over the coming week may indicate his chances of playing against the Commanders on Monday, Aug. 18. Burton finished Thursday's contest with one catch (on two targets) for three yards along with 42 yards on two kick returns and 32 yards on his lone punt return.

  • Jets' Jamaal Pritchett: Extensive return work Saturday

Pritchett caught one of three targets for six yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers. He also had a 23-yard kickoff return and returned four punts for 33 yards.

Pritchett's lone catch didn't come until the fourth quarter, but he saw extensive work as a return man on special teams. The 5-foot-8, 175-pound undrafted rookie out of South Alabama has an overlapping skill set with Xavier Gipson (shoulder) as an undersized wide receiver with special teams upside in the return game. The Jets are likely to keep either Gipson or Pritchett on the 53-man roster, with Gipson's injury opening the door for Pritchett to continue improving his case for a spot after he caught the coaching staff's eye with a strong training camp.

  • Malachi Corley WR | CLE

Jets' Malachi Corley: One catch in preseason opener

Corley caught one of two targets for eight yards and had a 31-yard kickoff return in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.

Corley didn't contribute much Saturday, and the 2024 third-round draft pick looks to be on the roster bubble heading into his second NFL season under a new coaching staff. Allen Lazard (shoulder) exited Saturday's game, and Xavier Gipson (shoulder) remains sidelined. Corley's chances of making the team would improve if those injuries to fellow wide receivers linger into the regular season, and the Jets would have another reason to retain him if Corley shows promise on special teams as a kick returner.

  • Arian Smith WR | NYJ

Jets' Arian Smith: Two catches in NFL debut

Smith caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.

Smith's production came in the second and third quarters, well after starting quarterback Justin Fields had exited the game. Nonetheless, Smith flashed the impressive speed that enticed the Jets to draft him in the fourth round out of Georgia. The rookie wide receiver's in good position to make the 53-man roster, even if it's in a depth role at first.

  • Garrett Wilson WR | NYJ

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Brief cameo in preseason opener

Wilson didn't catch his only target in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.

Wilson wasn't on the field for long, and while the only pass directed his way from quarterback Justin Fields fell incomplete, the starting offense still managed to produce a touchdown on Fields' and Wilson's only drive of the game. After signing a four-year, $130 million extension in July, Wilson's locked in atop the Jets' wide receiver depth chart.

  • Tyler Johnson WR | DAL

Jets' Tyler Johnson: Only WR to catch pass from Fields

Johnson caught both of his targets for 27 yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.

Johnson was the only wide receiver to catch a pass from starting quarterback Justin Fields, who played one drive. The veteran wide receiver added a 21-yard catch from rookie quarterback Brady Cook on the last play of the first quarter. Johnson looks like a lock to make the 53-man roster after impressing the coaching staff in training camp, and there's still time for him to make a case for a starting role.
