  • Jaylen Waddle WR | DEN

Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Limited role in opener

Waddle recorded four catches on five targets for 78 yards in Sunday's 36-34 win over the Chargers.

Waddle looked to be in for a big game, as he ripped off a 35-yard gain on Miami's opening drive. It's not overly surprising that he was overshadowed by Tyreek Hill from there, though Waddle was also out-targeted by Durham Smythe. Despite the limited volume, he still managed a fairly productive game thanks to his big-play ability, as half of his receptions went for more than 20 yards.

  • A.J. Brown WR | NE

Eagles' A.J. Brown: Leads way in rainy conditions

Brown recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 79 yards in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Patriots.

Brown and DeVonta Smith each had exactly 10 targets and seven receptions, though Brown worked more as the big-play threat. Despite rainy conditions, he had long receptions of 23 and 15 yards, each of which was based primarily on run after the catch. Given the context and typically tough matchup, it was a solid start to the new campaign for Brown.

  • Jayden Reed WR | GB

Packers' Jayden Reed: Encouraging NFL debut

Reed caught two of five targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Bears. He also rushed once for a two-yard loss.

Reed was rocked on his first touch, an option pitch he did well to hold onto. Afterward, though, he made a couple key catches on third downs and showed some shiftiness in the open field by totaling 54 yards on three punt returns. While he briefly exited with cramps late in the game, Reed ultimately returned to recover an attempted onside kick. Overall, it was an eventful debut for the rookie second-rounder, who'll now turn his attention toward Week 2's trip to Atlanta, when top wideout Christian Watson (hamstring) could return to Green Bay's starting lineup.

  • Darnell Mooney WR | NYG

Bears' Darnell Mooney: Scores in defeat

Mooney caught four of seven targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers.

Mooney tied with two others for Chicago's team lead in targets, but his total was significantly higher than top wideout DJ Moore's two. In fact, Mooney led the Bears in receiving yards, with a 20-yard touchdown to end the third quarter to boot. After a disappointing, injury-shortened 2022 campaign, Mooney was one of the few bright spots for the Bears while returning to action Sunday.

  • DK Metcalf WR | PIT

Seahawks' DK Metcalf: Lone bright spot offensively

Metcalf had three receptions on five targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Rams.

The entire offense struggled in Seattle's home opener Sunday, but Metcalf was able to escape with a healthy stat line. The 25-year-old finished tied for the team lead with five targets after logging only two games with five or less targets in 2022, making his volume the only concern coming out of an ugly team loss. Metcalf will look to build off of a solid start to the season in a road matchup against Detroit on Sunday.

  • Romeo Doubs WR | NE

Packers' Romeo Doubs: Scores twice to start season

Doubs caught four of five targets for 26 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Bears.

Doubs overcame a hamstring injury to suit up Sunday and took advantage of his opportunities, with fellow starting wideout Christian Watson (hamstring) sidelined. Although his yardage wasn't anything special, Doubs opened Green Bay's scoring with an eight-yard touchdown in the first quarter before impressively hauling in a four-yard TD in the fourth. While Watson could return for the Week 2 matchup versus the Falcons, Doubs should remain a prominent option for quarterback Jordan Love to target in key situations, with upside for a wider variety of involvement as Doubs gets more healthy.

  • DJ Moore WR | BUF

Bears' DJ Moore: Quiet Bears debut

Moore finished with two catches on two targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers.

Moore was held in check in his Bears debut, with five teammates garnering more looks than him in the passing game. To his credit, Moore hauled in the only pair of throws his way, but he nonetheless failed to make a meaningful impact in his first game with quarterback Justin Fields. Chicago's top offseason addition will strive to make a bigger splash in Week 2 while facing a Tampa Bay secondary he knows well from his time in Carolina.

  • Tyreek Hill WR | MIA

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Torches Chargers' secondary

Hill recorded 11 receptions on 15 targets for 215 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 36-34 win over the Chargers.

Hill teamed up with Tua Tagovailoa to singlehandedly dismantle the Chargers. He had five receptions of more than 20 yards, one of which went for a 35-yard touchdown late in the third quarter. Hill also tallied the game-winning score on a four-yard catch with just under two minutes remaining in the game. It was an incredible performance to begin the 2023 season and marked Hill's third career contest, and his first with the Dolphins, with more than 200 receiving yards.

  • Davante Adams WR | LAR

Raiders' Davante Adams: Targeted nine times in win

Adams (leg) corralled six of his nine targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over Denver.

Adams had a pedestrian stat line by his lofty standards, but it was a positive to see him out there for the season opener after suffering a minor leg injury late in camp. New quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo targeted his star wideout nine times, but it was fellow new addition Jakobi Meyers who cashed in on both passing touchdowns Sunday. Meyers is dealing with a potential head injury, so Adams could be in store for even more targets against the Bills on Sunday.

  • Curtis Samuel WR | BUF

Commanders' Curtis Samuel: Leading receiver in win

Samuel caught all five of his targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Cardinals.

The veteran receiver led the Commanders in receiving yards while tying Jahan Dotson for the lead in catches on a fairly quiet day overall for the passing game. Samuel is No. 3 on the depth chart behind Dotson and Terry McLaurin, which will likely limit his volume and ceiling as the season progresses, but new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy's scheme could keep all three wideouts involved in a Week 2 meeting with the Broncos.
