Rashid Shaheed WR | SEA
Saints' Rashid Shaheed: Not playing Saturday
Shaheed (hamstring) isn't in uniform ahead of Saturday's preseason contest in Arizona, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
During a summer in which he inked a one-year extension, Shaheed has been tending to a tight hamstring since last Saturday and will miss the Saints' first exhibition as a result. His next opportunity for game action is Sunday, Aug. 18 at San Francisco.

Marquise Brown WR | PHI
Chiefs' Marquise Brown: Hurts shoulder Saturday
Brown sustained a shoulder injury during Saturday's preseason contest at Jacksonville.
QB Patrick Mahomes connected with Brown on an 11-yard catch on the first play from scrimmage, but afterward the offseason addition appeared to favor his shoulder on the sideline. After a Harrison Butker field goal ended the Chiefs' first drive, Brown was seen making his way to the locker room. Considering it's the preseason and not the regular season, Brown likely has seen his last action of the team's exhibition opener.

Kadarius Toney WR | CLE
Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Not playing vs. Jacksonvile
Toney (back) was not seen in pregame warmups for the Chiefs' preseason opener against the Jaguars on Saturday, Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star reports.
Toney has battled separate ankle and back injuries during training camp, and the 2021 first-round pick will be held out of Saturday's preseason tilt. He may get some reps in Kansas City's second preseason game against Detroit on Aug. 17, if healthy. Toney is competing for a depth spot at wide receiver, and he's also been utilized out of the backfield and on special teams as a returner during training camp.

Josh Palmer WR | BUF
Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Likely not playing Saturday
Palmer is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Seahawks, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The team is likely to keep a number of its clear starters on the sideline to kick off the preseason. Expect to see plenty of Quentin Johnston and Brenden Rice as the young wide receivers look to continue improving in the exhibition contests.
-
Ricky Pearsall WR | SF
49ers' Ricky Pearsall: Unlikely to play Saturday
Pearsall (shoulder) isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason game at Tennessee, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Pearsall kicked off training camp on the active/non-football injury list due to a hamstring injury, and since the 49ers activated him July 29, the shoulder issue that impacted his on-field work during OTAs resurfaced. With Brandon Aiyuk away from the team as he seeks either a long-term contract from San Francisco or a trade elsewhere, Pearsall is missing out on key reps in camp and now the exhibition slate. Pearsall's next chance for game action is Sunday, Aug. 18 against the Saints.

Jakeem Grant WR | ATL
Falcons' Jakeem Grant: Catches on with Atlanta
The Falcons signed Grant to a one-year deal Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Grant missed all of 2023 after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in the preseason. He had a tryout with the Giants in July, but he will now head to Atlanta to compete for a return specialist role with the Falcons. His last full season was in 2021, when he played 15 regular-season games between the Dolphins and Bears, accumulating 250 punt return yards and one touchdown while adding 11 catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Keon Coleman WR | BUF
Bills' Keon Coleman: One catch in preseason opener
Coleman caught one of three targets for eight yards in Saturday's 33-6 preseason loss to the Bears.
Coleman didn't make much of a splash in his NFL debut, with his lone catch coming on a pass thrown by backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Coleman worked in with the starting wide receivers, but Josh Allen's pair of first-quarter completions went to Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel. Coleman's expected to play a significant role as a rookie in a Bills receiving corps that lost Stefon Diggs in the offseason, and the 2024 second-round pick out of Florida State will try to put forth a stronger showing in next Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers.
-
Rome Odunze WR | CHI
Bears' Rome Odunze: Blanked in preseason debut
Odunze didn't catch his only target in Saturday's 33-6 preseason win over the Bills.
Chicago's starters played two drives, and DJ Moore was the only wide receiver to record a catch over that span, notching two receptions for 27 yards. It was a quiet preseason debut for Odunze, who didn't play in the Hall of Fame Game last week. Odunze could be more involved in next Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals as the Bears try to get the rookie ninth overall pick some touches prior to the regular season.
-
David Bell WR | CLE
Browns' David Bell: Exits game with quadriceps injury
Bell left in the first half of Saturday's preseason game against the Packers due to a quadriceps injury and is questionable to return, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Bell headed back to the locker room due to the injury, per Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Prior to his exit, Bell caught his lone target for five yards.
-
DJ Moore WR | BUF
Bears' DJ Moore: Catches pair of Williams passes
Moore caught two of three targets for 27 yards in Saturday's 33-6 preseason win over the Bills.
Moore was the only wide receiver to record a catch while rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was in the game, as Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze combined for only one target. Those offseason additions could cut into Moore's volume after Moore led the team with 136 targets last season, but Chicago's entire passing game has a much higher ceiling with Williams under center than it did with Justin Fields last season. Moore will look to keep building chemistry with Williams as the Bears continue preseason play next Saturday against the Bengals.
