Harold Fannin Jr. TE | CLE
Browns' Harold Fannin: Can't connect with Watson in preseason loss
Fannin failed to haul in his only target in Saturday's 34-10 preseason loss to the Bears.
With Deshaun Watson getting the start under center for the Browns, Fannin's only target came on a 3rd-and-5 in Chicago territory, but he couldn't bring in it. Fannin had an impressive rookie season in 2025 after being a third-round pick despite the team's QB woes, but he missed most of the offseason program while recovering from groin surgery and only got cleared in mud-July, costing him valuable time to develop chemistry with Watson. If Watson does win the Week 1 starting job ahead of Shedeur Sanders, who showed a strong rapport with the tight end last year, it could impact Fannin's numbers in the early part of the schedule.

Max Klare TE | LAR
Rams' Max Klare: Logs seven catches in Rams debut
Klare caught seven passes on eight targets for 37 yards during the Rams' 20-12 preseason win over the Chiefs on Saturday.
Klare was listed as the Rams' starting tight end for Saturday's exhibition game while Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee and Terrance Ferguson all observed the contest from the sidelines. Klare made the most of the opportunity, with four of his team-high seven catches coming in the first half, though he did commit a holding penalty late in the third quarter. Still, it was a productive performance from the rookie second-rounder, who is battling against Davis Allen (quadriceps) for a depth spot on the 53-man roster. The Rams' next preseason game takes place Saturday, Aug. 22 against the Saints.

Jake Ferguson TE | DAL
Cowboys' Jake Ferguson: Not in uniform Saturday
Ferguson isn't suited up for Saturday's preseason contest against the Seahawks, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said in early August that the Cowboys' starters won't play during the preseason, so Ferguson's absence from the opener Saturday isn't a concern. The veteran pass catcher is slated to resume his role as Dallas' top tight end in 2026 after notching a career-high 82 receptions (on 102 targets) for 600 yards and a career-best eight touchdowns over 17 regular-season games last year. Dallas' tight-end corps will be rounded out by Brevyn Spann-Ford and Luke Schoonmaker, among others.

Sean McKeon TE | IND
Sean McKeon: Reaches injury settlement with Indy
The Colts released McKeon (undisclosed) from IR with an injury settlement Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
McKeon signed with Indianapolis on a reserve/future contract in early January but suffered an injury that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve Aug. 6. However, the negotiation of an injury settlement means McKeon will be able to find a new organization and potentially play in 2026 once healthy. The 28-year-old saw action in one regular-season game with the Colts last year, finishing with no targets or touches on eight offensive snaps.

Nikola Kalinic TE | CHI
Bears' Nikola Kalinic: Hurts knee in preseason opener
Kalinic suffered a right knee injury during Saturday's preseason victory versus the Browns, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Kalinic had to head to the locker room during the game due to the injury. Coach Ben Johnson said after the contest that the tight end hurt his right knee but didn't elaborate on the extent of the issue. Kalinic didn't see any targets during his time in Saturday's preseason opener. He's competing for a depth role among the Bears' TE corps.

Jaren Kanak TE | TEN
Titans' Jaren Kanak: Out for season with pec injury
Kanak will miss the entire 2026 campaign due to a torn pectoral, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Kanak made an early exit from Thursday's preseason game at San Francisco and wasn't able to return to action. Now that the severity of the injury is known, the rookie seventh-round pick will need to wait until 2027 to make his pro debut. Kylen Granson, David Martin-Robinson and Joel Wilson now will compete for the tertiary TE roles in the Titans offense behind Gunnar Helm and Daniel Bellinger.
-
Baylor Cupp TE | ARI
Cardinals' Baylor Cupp: Headed to Arizona
The Cardinals signed Cupp to a contract Saturday.
Cupp is a third-year undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech. The tight end played in one career regular-season game for the Chiefs in 2024, totalling 10 snaps and one target for zero catches. The 26-year-old was likely signed to replace Jameson Geers (undisclosed), who was just placed on season-ending injured reserve.
-
Jameson Geers TE | ARI
Cardinals' Jameson Geers: Moved to IR
The Cardinals placed Geers (undisclosed) on injured reserve Saturday.
Geers likely sustained an injury during Thursday's preseason win over the Raiders. The tight end was fighting a losing battle to make the 53-man roster, and the injury brings an end to that bid. Geers will spend the entirety of the 2026 regular season on injured reserve unless he is waived with an injury settlement.
-
Jack Endries TE | CIN
Bengals' Jack Endries: Catches touchdown in preseason debut
Endries caught a 17-yard touchdown reception from Joe Flacco in Thursday's preseason opener against the Lions. He's competing with veteran Tanner Hudson for a roster spot, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.
This is a roster battle for the fourth tight-end spot, so the stakes are pretty low for fantasy purposes. Endries gets points for athleticism and pass-catching ability, whereas Hudson is more of a reliable veteran that knows the system well. At any rate, either tight end would fall behind Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample and Erick All on the Bengals' depth chart.
-
Elijah Higgins TE | ARI
Cardinals' Elijah Higgins: Progressing through concussion protocol
Higgins (concussion) is progressing through the league's five-step concussion protocol and is close to returning, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.
Higgins missed Thursday night's preseason contest against the Raiders due to the issue. The tight end is likely meeting with an independent neurologist daily at this stage, hoping to be cleared for full contact so that he can return to complete team activities. With Tip Reiman (ankle) still on the active/PUP list, Higgins is set to be the No. 2 option at tight end behind Trey McBride.
